1 Sign up for classes today!! Laura s has a wonderful group of talented teachers who love to share their expertise with you! But we need your help. When you see a class you are interested in taking, the teacher and she will register you and send you the supply list and any other information needed to have a fun and successful class. To help prevent cancellation for insufficient enrollment, students are encouraged to register early. Payment is by cash or check payable to the teacher. Creative Classes Accuquilt GO! Shooting Star Wall hanging Teacher: Jeannie Miller miller_j5@comcast.net Date: Thursday, March 9 & April 13 Saturday March 11 & April 15 10:30-3:00 Cost: $15 each class + supplies Eleanor Burns has created this beautiful new Shooting Star Wall Hanging just for you! It's a breeze to make using the GO. Jeannie and Eleanor will walk you through each step with clear instructions and color pictures. It even includes a bonus embellished Shining Star block from Eleanor. We will be making the wall hanging in class. If you don t have a GO! Or the dies, no worries, you can use Jeannie's in the classes Quick Quilts: 3 rd Monday of each month Date: Monday, April 17 10:30 1:30 Cost: $20 + supplies Explore the various ways to join quilt as you go blocks. Also discover the kinds of patterns that can be stitched directly onto the batting and backing to piece and quilt your project in one step. Port St Lucie Loralie s Sew Creative Purse Teacher: Denise Cargill neenee2@comcast.net Date: Saturday, April 29 10:30-2:30 Cost: $40 includes Pattern + supplies Skill Level: Intermediate This purse is based on Loralie's Design free project "The Nurse Purse". We are going to take Loralie's wonderful whimsical Sew Creative Ladies fabric panel and make this fun purse using a wonky log cabin type pattern. The rules for this project is there are no rules. We'll have fun being creative and everyone will leave with their own unique work of art that they can proudly use or give to that whimsical person in their life. Kit includes all the fabrics and supplies you will need to complete this purse and a step by step pattern. Free Classes for Laura s Machine Owners When you purchase a machine from Laura s Sewing & Quilt Shop there are classes designed to educate you how to use your new wonderful machine. Owners Classes: Make an appointment with Shop staff for a private class Owners Sewing Machine Techniques 1 st Friday of each month Date: Friday, April 7 1:30 3:00 Cost: No Charge, this is for machines purchased at Laura s Learn all about your new sewing machine. Learn about different types and sizes of needles, what kind of thread to use and different needle positions on your machine. We will learn the difference between a normal Zig Zag stitch and a stepped Zig Zag. Feather stitch for stretch fabrics. Learn about all your special feet and how to use them. The overlock, the blind hem, the button hole and zipper foot. Finally, we will look at all the wonderful decorative stitches on your machine. 3 Owners Embroidery Machine Techniques 4 th Friday of each month Date: Friday, April 28 1:30 3:00 Cost: No Charge, this is for machines purchased at Laura s This class is designed to understanding and use all the wonderful technology built into your top of the line machine. This is a lecture demo class - no need to bring your machine! You have "homework" to practice using various parts of your machine that was demonstrated in the class. Your "homework" will become a sample to add to the pages of your purchased notebook. Please bring your notebook to every class as well as your show and tells. Embroidery Workshop 3 rd Tuesday or 3 rd Thursday of each month Teacher: Jan Landry grammy8@bellsouth.net Date: Tuesday, April 18 10:30 4:00 OR Thursday, April 20 10:30 4:00 Cost: $25 includes kit + supplies Join us for the Embroidery Workshops. Each month you will participate in a hands-on embroidery project selected by the teacher. Then there will be a presentation giving you instructions, hints and tips to complete your block at home. Each month a new technique using great simple projects that will not add to your UFO stack. We will cover proper use of your sewing machine including threading, and seam allowances. Learn to choose a pattern, fabric yardage needed, thread and proper needles. There are many different cutting and measuring tools specially designed to make measuring fabric, and cutting fabric accurately and easy. You will be able to make a wall hanging or a quilt.
