12 3 Device Cnfiguratin There are tw parts f the device that require sftware t setup. First are the cnfigurable features f the device and secnd is the Dante audi ruting. Cnfiguratin f the specific features is carried ut using the Atter Tech unify Cntrl Panel applicatin. This applicatin is available frm the Atter Tech website ( It shuld be used t examine and mdify the device specific features such as input sensitivity and internal audi surce ruting. If the Dante audi is used, the audi ruting shuld be carried ut using any applicatin that supprts Dante audi ruting. This culd be frm a 3 rd party manufacturer r Audinate s wn Dante Cntrller. Dante Cntrller can be btained frm the Audinate website ( Instructins n hw t use this sftware and abut setting up rutes n a Dante netwrk can als be fund n Audinate s website. *Nte: When using Dante cntrller, the will be shwn using a default device name f -###### where ###### is the last six characters f the device s MAC address. 3.1 IP Address Setup ******************************************************* IMPORTANT ****************************************************** Failure t crrectly cnfigure an IP address will nt allw an device t crrectly authenticate in the unify Cntrl Panel sftware and while it will be detected by Dante Cntrller, it will nt appear in the ruting table. It will be visible n the Device Inf page, thugh nly its name will present and all ther infrmatin will be blank. Other infrmatin n the in ther parts f Dante Cntrller will als either be blank r marked N/A. In this state, it will als nt be pssible t rute audi t and frm the either. In rder t cnfigure an bth t set up its internal parameters and als setup audi ruting, the PC will need t be able t cmmunicate with it ver the netwrk. While all Dante devices will be discvered regardless f the IP address setup n the PC, cmmunicatin can nly ccur if the PC and the device have cmpatible IP addresses. By default, the is set t get a dynamic IP address. As with all Dante devices, if the device des nt find a DHCP server t retrieve an IP address frm, it will give itself a lcal link address smetimes als knwn as an autmatic private IP address (APIPA) instead. A lcal link address is always in the range x.y. T ensure cmmunicatin, the PC can either be set t get a dynamic IP address r be given a static IP address in the range x.y. The PC may require a restart fr the changes t its IP address setup t take effect. Further infrmatin n IP setup fr an audi system using Dante can be fund in the FAQ s n Audinate s website ( 3.2 Factry Reset ******************************************************* IMPORTANT ****************************************************** The factry reset returns the entire device t its factry defaults. Using this feature will mean all custm Dante settings and all audi pwer-n default settings will be cleared. *NOTE: The factry reset is a useful way f quickly restring cmmunicatins with a device which has an unknwn static IP address as a factry reset returns the device s netwrk settings t getting a dynamic IP. Having successfully cmpleted a factry reset f the device, setting the PC s IP address t als btain a dynamic IP address shuld then allw the PC t cmmunicate fully with that device. The factry reset buttn is accessed thrugh a small hle n the frnt f the unit using a small screwdriver r a paperclip. A factry reset is initiated by pressing and hlding this buttn fr 5 secnds r mre while the device is running and then releasing it. If dne crrectly, the Dante status LEDs will change state. They will all turn ff except fr the SYS LED which will turn red fr a cuple f secnds. All three LEDs will then briefly turn range, befre the device then rebts and a nrmal start-up prcedure begins. If the LEDs remain green immediately after releasing the buttn, that is an indicatin the buttn was nt held fr lng enugh and the factry reset was nt applied. Having applied a successful factry reset, n the Dante side, custmized device name and channel names will be cleared and any receive flw subscriptins will be remved. The netwrk settings will als be reset s the device will return t retrieving an IP address dynamically. The pwer-up defaults fr the audi settings are als cleared. Fr every input, input gain is set back t 0dB while the input pad and phantm pwer settings are turned ff. Fr every utput, utput vlume is set t maximum (0dB) and the utput mute is disabled. 15 4 3 rd Party Cntrl The supprts 3 rd party cntrl f the device parameters. There are tw cntrl interface types available fr the. The first type is a Dante prprietary interface which is typically used by devices that already have built-in supprt fr Atter Tech devices. The secnd type supprts a 3 rd party UDP interface and is available t anyne t use with any device capable f sending and receiving UDP messages. Infrmatin n the cmmands the supprts as well as details f hw t use the 3 rd party UDP interface can be fund in the unify 3 rd party Sftware API dcument, available frm the registered users sectin f the Atter Tech website (G t and click n the lg-in ptin). 4.1 Cmmand Interface Type The type f cmmand interface a specific supprts is defined by the Dante firmware it has been laded with. There are tw methds t determine which Dante firmware and thus which cmmand interface that is: 1) Run unify Cntrl Panel V2.3 r later. Right-click n the device, and select the Device Inf ptin. The interface type is shwn indicated by the Cntrl Type field. A -C means the device is using the Dante Prprietary interface. A -U means the device is using the 3 rd party UDP interface. 2) Using Dante Cntrller, duble-click n the device in questin, select the Status tab and lk fr the Firmware Versin parameter in the Device Infrmatin bx. If the Firmware Versin is V1.x.x, the device is using the Dante Prprietary interface. If it is V2.0.0, the device is using the 3 rd party UDP cntrl interface. A device s cmmand interface can be changed simply by updating the device s Dante firmware. Mrever, this can be dne in the field in almst all cases. The tls and necessary firmware files fr updating a device s cmmand interface can be btained frm the registered users sectin f the Atter Tech website (G t and click n the lg-in ptin). The firmware files have an extensin.dnt (therwise knwn as dnut files) and there is ne fr each cmmand interface type. The file with the C in its name supprts the Dante prprietary interface while the ne with -U in its name supprts the 3 rd Party UDP interface. 4.2 Using the Cmmand interface In rder t make use f the cmmand interface, regardless f type, the simply needs t be cnfigured with an IP address that is cmpatible with the device ding the cntrlling. The cntrl devices shuld then be able t cnverse with the withut any further cnfiguratin necessary. Atter Tech LLC 2018 Page Rev 01_a
