3 IMPORTANT PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE SIGNING UP FOR CLASSES Space is limited in all of our classes. Please, sign up early! Please let us know at least 2 weeks in advance if you need to back out of a class. Our teachers work very hard preparing for class and to do so properly, they need to have a head count a couple of weeks before the class begins. Because all class fees go to our teachers, we cannot refund class fees if you do not show up for a class or if you cancel less than 1 week before the start of the class. CLASS DISCOUNTS! Receive a 15% discount on any supply you need for a class! RECEIVE a 15% Discount on fabrics, notions, books, etc. during the class! ***We encourage you to make sure that the class has the minimum enrollment before you purchase supplies.*** When you register for a class, you must pay the class fee in order to hold your seat. If at the time of registration a supply list for the class is not available, please check back with us no later than 2 weeks prior to the first class so we can get you one. If at all possible, please come to class at least 15 minutes early. It makes it much easier for the teacher to begin at the designated time and doesn t take away from the other students. We encourage students not to wear perfumes as many people are allergic. Please label your belongings, so if anything is left behind, we ll know who it belongs to. If for any reason a class is cancelled, we will refund your class fee.

4 Prairie Woman s Sewing Circle Gather together as the Prairie Women did, and hear anecdotal stories about their quilt-making, and what daily life was like for those who traveled by wagon train on the Oregon Trail, to the lives of quilters during the Civil War, and the years of women s suffrage for equal rights. A fee of $35.00 at sign up provides you with monthly patterns. Your hostess will be Karen Brindle. 5 Sewing Class Learn How to Sew in Six Short classes; Learn to Sew with Olga When: June 3 rd, 17 th, 24 th, July 15 th, 22 nd, 29 th Hours: 9:30-12:30 Fee: $ Class Size: 4-6 eager participants! This class is designed for the novice who has little or no sewing experience. In it, you ll learn the fundamentals of sewing so you too can proudly say, I made this! You ll learn how to do the following: Sew buttons Hem a garment Choose fabrics Use measuring tools Read a pattern Use a rotary cutter Stitch accurate seam allowances Press properly Install a zipper You ll learn tricks of the trade along the way to produce professional work. You will make the following items: I encourage you to buy your fabric and thread at The Sew n Place Credit card holder Reversible Market Bag* Easy Sew Cosmetics Bag* Small kit fee for notions Please bring the following with you to class: Sewing machine that you re familiar with and that is in good working order. (If not sure, please bring it in for servicing ahead of time.) Basic sewing kit that consists of the following: Shears, scissors, seam ripper, pins, needles, sewing gauge Rotary cutter, rotary ruler (preferably 6 x 24 ), rotary mat Thread

6 Notebook and pen or pencil Phone or tablet to take photos Free Pattern: =635&_token=jOAG6FC8B4Y3lWTnqYzxoM5lctP4aH7E&_part=3 Quilting Classes Ebony and Ivory March 31 from 9:30 3:30 $35 Half square triangles and squares are sewn together to make this eye catching quilt. Black and white prints with a dash of red give it a dramatic look. This pattern is adaptable to any color scheme just as long as there is contrast. Using a great variety prints enables you to use your stash to make this quilt. Great project for beginners as well as more experienced.

7 Let s Get It Quilted Basic Feathers (Not for Beginners) April 7 from 9:30-3:30 Cost $45 Instructor: Sue Papouschek This class is an introduction to creating home machine quilted feathers. There are various ways to stitch these beautiful designs, so you may find that one method is more comfortable to stitch than another. Each technique creates a slightly different style feather. You will begin with a playful feather then move to some more formal style feathers. Add some additional curves or bumps and you ve got something even more unique. Your creativity will be flowing in no time. So, when that next quilt project asks for something special you will be able to get it quilted!

8 OODLES OF DOODLES. A fabric version of the very popular ZENTANGLE. April 15 from 9:30-3:30 Cost $35 Raid your stash or share some fabrics with friends. If you have taken the Ebony & Ivory class, the leftovers will work for this class. You will just have to add some medium tone black & white prints. No two quilts will be the same. This is really a fun project that goes together rather quickly. It may be completed in class.

9 DRESDEMANIA May 1 and May 8 from 9:30-3:30 Cost: $60 You can take an old quilt block pattern and give it an updated look by the fabrics you use. All of the plates are made from the same medium to large print fabric. Even ugly fabrics come out beautiful. The construction of the Dresden Plates is quick and simple using rotary cutting and machine piecing shortcuts. You can also give the quilt a contemporary look by randomly placing them on the quilt background, or a more traditional look by setting each plate in a separate block. Every plate is a surprise because you don t know what it will look like until you lay the pieces out. Instructor: Dottie Moreland

10 Intro to Quilting Fridays, April 28 & May 12 9:30 3:30 $60 Have you ever wanted to quilt and thought... I can't it s too hard. Well yes you can! Come learn to piece a quilt with basic techniques, baste it, quilt it and bind it. The introduction to quilting will let you create a doll size quilt to get you started with a fun and easy hobby. There will be homework in between and a lot of fun to fill the time. Please get supply list when signing up. Minimum of 2. Instructor: Jessica Diehl Quilted Purse Friday, May 5, 2017 from 9:30 3:30 Cost $40 Spring is here and summer is around the corner. Time for a new purse and one from your favorite fabric. This purse has multiple outside and inside pockets. Join us for the day and go home with a new purse. To take this class, you should be familiar with the walking foot and zipper foot for your machine. Instructor: Ruth Phillips

11 HAND APPLIQUE CLASS June 15 from 9:30-3:30 Instructor: Dottie Moreland Cost $35 In this class, you will learn to hand applique, including how to make those sharp points and inside points and smooth inside and outside curves. Once you learn how to master these four techniques you can do any kind of hand applique. Come and learn these applique skills whether you are a beginning appliquer or have done some in the past. String Piecing Club May 4 from 10:00-12:00; June 6 10:00-3:30; Sept 5 10:00-3:30; Oct 3 10:00-3:30 Instructor Nancy Bills Cost $100 String piecing uses small strips of fabric cut from leftovers or yardage. These strips are sewn together into scrappy units that are then cut apart and sewn together into different quilt patterns. It may sound strange but if you love the scrappy look and have never tried it, you don t know what you re missing. If you have tried it, you ve probably used a foundation when piecing

12 the strings. In these classes, there are no foundations to cut and/or tear away once the blocks are finished. I ve designed this as a club because once you cut the necessary variety of strings, chances are you ll have more than enough for one quilt (not to mention that you may get hooked on string piecing). We ll be making four different quilts. First is a string star pattern, then a spider web that s designed so that you get perfect points between the webs, a string pieced Wedding Ring designed as a wall hanging, and finally a string pieced Dresden Plate that uses leftovers from the other projects. Each of the patterns uses the same size strings and the projects can be as small or large as you want to make them. To get everyone started, there will be a two-hour meeting to talk about what you need for the class, tips on cutting your strings, what types of scraps you need and tips for accumulating the necessary variety. In addition, you ll get a look at all the finished quilts. If you have a stash or a ton of scraps, this is a great class for you, or if you have a small stash or have been hoping to start accumulating one, this is also a great class. If you don t want to string piece one or more of the projects, each of the patterns can be done using blocks pieced from just one fabric. The class fee includes the preliminary meeting, four all day classes, and patterns for all four projects. Additional photos can be seen at the Sew N Place. Going Wonky Club May 9 from 10:00-3:30 June 13 10:00-3:30; Sept 26 10:00-3:30; Oct 4 10:00-3:30 Instructor Nancy Bills Cost $75 This club is designed for anyone who loves quilts that are a little off, and for quilters who sometimes just want to have fun making something that has very few rules, almost no worrying

13 about matching or points, and is a great way to use up all types of scraps and other fabric that is just sitting around. The club consists of three classes. The first covers wonky stars that can be any size and are made without triangles as well as Not so square-in- a-squares, wacky flying geese and more, all without using foundations. The second class is my new pattern titled, How Did That Happen? It uses one single background and all kinds of scraps that end up going every which way in the quilt. It s great for batiks, homespun, kid s fabrics or traditional and also teaches setting blocks at an angle. If you choose, the wonky stars from the first class can be incorporated into this pattern. The third class makes use of wedges cut from scraps to create unique borders, sashings, baskets, flying geese, crazy blocks, pieced prairie points, and much more. Students are encouraged and helped in designing their own unique quilt using these pieces. Patterns are included in the class fee. Jelly Roll Weave Monday May 15, :30am-3:30pm Cost $35.00 Ever wonder what to do with those pretty precut Jelly Rolls? Well I have the solution for you. The Jelly Roll Weave is a simple yet stunning quilt. It is not only fun and fairly quick to sew but

14 also versatile in that the pattern can be easily adapted to multiple sizes, and works well in various color palattes or themes. Which is why it is perfect for Jelly Rolls. Of course, it would also make a great scrappy quilt and a way to use up a quilters stash. This project is suited for all skill levels. Instructor Laurie Donaldson Jack in the Blocks June 23 from 9:30 3:30 $35 Join us to make this sweet table runner. You will learn techniques that you can use in many future projects, such as accurate half-square triangles and flying geese 4 at a time. This project makes up really quickly. The model uses the Americana color scheme, but you can vary the colors to match any décor. Instructor: Patty Prodonovich

Carrying these to classes, retreats or even just keeping them contained at home is a challenge. 16 Party Time Placemats (Beginners) June 16 from 9:30-3:30 Cost: $35 These Placemats are fun to make and a great project for a beginning quilter. The front side of the placemat is sewn in a kaleidoscope design. Use for a picnic or patio or even a party. Learn to make two but you can always make more for fun or quick present for a friend. Instructor: Jessica Diehl DRESDEN FLOWER GARDEN TABLERUNNER July 17 from 9:30-3:30 Cost $35 The block used to make up this table runner is a blend of the two traditional blocks: Dresden Plate and Grandmother s Flower Garden. The blocks make up quickly and the setting triangles make the assembly very easy.

17 Software - Premier Extra April 18 Part 1 & April 20 Part 2 June 20 Part 1 & June 22 Part 2 1:00pm 4:00pm Free for those who purchased at The Sew n Place. You will learn how to set up your program with your own preferences plus much more. You'll learn how to convert your designs to pictures, zip a group of designs, print work sheets, and more. You'll learn how to add letters to your design, change colors, add frames, create monograms, and edit your designs, this and more. Software must be installed and dongle activated before class day. Instructor: Janie Reed Software - Premier Create (Digitizing) May 16 and 18 from 1:00 4:00 Part 1 July 11 and 13 from 1:00-4:00 Part 1 and Part 2 Free for those who purchased at The Sew n Place. This class teaches the functions and tools of the Design Creator program. You will learn to digitize from clip art, how to change the fills, create your own fills, change density, plus much more. Instructor: Janie Reed Software - Premier Modify (Stitch Editor) May 30 from 1:00 4:00 July 18 from 1:00 4:00 Free for those who purchased at The Sew n Place. In this class we will start in Design Creator creating a design and taking it into Stitch Editor. In Stitch Editor we will fix any flaws, add words from 6D Embroidery, add and remove stitches, add trims where needed, and save. Must have taken digitizing class or be knowledgeable of the tools and functions of the Design Creator program. Instructor: Janie Reed Thinking of taking a class?
