Please, sign up early! Please let us know at least 2 weeks in advance if you need to back out of a class. Our teachers work very hard preparing for class and to do so properly, they need to have a head count a couple of weeks before the class begins. Because all class fees go to our teachers, we cannot refund class fees if you do not show up for a class or if you cancel less than 1 week before the start of the class. CLASS DISCOUNTS! Receive a 15% discount on any supply you need for a class! RECEIVE a 15% Discount on fabrics, notions, books, etc. during the class! ***We encourage you to make sure that the class has the minimum enrollment before you purchase supplies.*** When you register for a class, you must pay the class fee in order to hold your seat. If at the time of registration a supply list for the class is not available, please check back with us no later than 2 weeks prior to the first class so we can get you one. If at all possible, please come to class at least 15 minutes early. It makes it much easier for the teacher to begin at the designated time and doesn t take away from the other students. We encourage students not to wear perfumes as many people are allergic. Please label your belongings, so if anything is left behind, we ll know who it belongs to. If for any reason a class is cancelled, we will refund your class fee 2

3 Prairie Woman s Sewing Circle Gather together as the Prairie Women did, and hear anecdotal stories about their quilt-making, and what daily life was like for those who traveled by wagon train on the Oregon Trail, to the lives of quilters during the Civil War, and the years of women s suffrage for equal rights. 5 Quilting Classes Lets get it quilted Instructor: Sue Papouschek Part 1 and Part 2 August 4 from 9:30-3:30: Repeats November 3 Part 1: This home machine quilting class will help you learn how to do small quilting projects on your sewing machine with your walking foot. You will be surprised at the possibilities. It gets you familiar with your machine prior to using your free motion foot. Part 2: Using your home machine s free motion foot you will have curves and swirls flowing across your fabric with a new sense of free motion. You will be surprised with your newfound talent. Part 3 and Part 4 August 5, 2017 from 9:30-3:30: Repeats November 4 Part 3: This class is an introduction to creating home machine quilted feathers. There are various ways to stitch these beautiful designs, so you may find that one method is more comfortable to stitch than another. Each technique creates a slightly different style feather. You will begin with a playful feather then move to some more formal style feathers. Add some additional curves or bumps and you ve got something even more unique. Your creativity will be flowing in no time. So when that next quilt project asks for something special you will be able to get it quilted! Part 4: Ever wonder how a triangle shape can be quilted with feathers? Ever wonder how to stitch around a border corner with feathers? Ever want to just stitch inside of feathers with whatever you can come up with and play with ideas? In this home machine quilting class you ll play with various added tweeks of designs for feathers. Learn how to go around border corners with continuous feather stitching. Triangular shapes of a quilt top piecing don t have to be intimidating. Many feathering options are available. You ll be able to add some real pretty quilting motifs to your library after taking this class. 6 DRESDEMANIA Instructor: Dottie Moreland August 10 and 17 from 9:30 3:30 $60 You can take an old quilt block pattern and give it an updated look by the fabrics you use. All of the plates are made from the same medium to large print fabric. Even ugly fabrics come out beautiful. The construction of the Dresden Plates is quick and simple using rotary cutting and machine piecing shortcuts. You can also give the quilt a contemporary look by randomly placing them on the quilt background, or a more traditional look by setting each plate in a separate block. Every plate is a surprise because you don t know what it will look like until you lay the pieces out. Intro to Quilting Instructor: Jessica Diehl Fridays, October 12 & October 26 from 9:30 3:30 $60 Have you ever wanted to quilt and thought... I can't it s too hard. Well yes you can! Come learn to piece a quilt with basic techniques, baste it, quilt it and bind it. The introduction to quilting will let you create a doll size quilt to get you started with a fun and easy hobby. There will be homework in between and a lot of fun to fill the time. Please get supply list when signing up. Minimum of Ways to Applique Instructor: Dottie Moreland Monday, August 21, and August 28, 2017 from 1:00 4:00 There are many ways to applique and through this class you will learn 12 various ways that you can specialize your quilts or crafts. Put your personal touch. Join us for this fun way to explore the various styles. Log Cabin for Beginners Instructor: Jessica Diehl August 18 and September 1, from 9:30-3:30 $60 Beginning Log Cabin is based on the Eleanor Burnes, Quilt in a Day: Log Cabin. It is for beginning quilters or individuals that have never quilted a log cabin before. Log cabins vary and we have advanced classes throughout the quarter that will take you to the next level. Join us for fun and quilting. You will use the book to decide the size and pattern layout. 6

7 Pin Cushions Wool Applique Instructor: Ann Kessel Friday September 15, 2017 from 9:30am-3:30pm.00 Have you wanted to try wool Applique? Here is the class for you. We will make a small project that makes a cute Pin cushion. If you like you can add a border or two to the wool center and make a small pillow or even a frame and hang on your wall. Using Rulers and Scraps Instructor: Karen Manderson September 19 from 10:00 to 12:00 $15 Have you ever wondered how do I use this ruler to the max and what do these lines mean? Can I use it on my scraps or do I need to have fresh cut material certain lengths and size s? Come hear Karen discuss options for various rulers and how you can use up those leftover scraps. Party Time Placemats (Beginners) Instructor: Jessica Diehl September 22, 2017 from 9:30-3:30 $35 These Placemats are fun to make and a great project for a beginning quilter. The front side of the placemat is sewn in a kaleidoscope design. Use for a picnic or patio or even a party. Learn to make two but you can always make more for fun or quick present for a friend Tool Tote or Boxy Tote Bag Instructer: Irene Crofford October 3, 10 and 17 from 9:30-12:30 $60 plus pattern These great quilted bags have lots of pockets inside and out for your quilting tools, make up or travel items. The bag construction uses quilting, sewing and some zipper installation skills and is not for beginners. Cutting and fusing requirements prior to first class. Large one fits a featherweight machine perfectly. 7

8 Twisted Log Cabin Instructor: Dottie Moreland October 9 and 16 th 2017 from 9:30-3:30 $60 This quilt is a twist on the traditional log cabin block. If you have watched the quilt show Simply Quilts, you have seen this quilt in the very beginning of the show where the show name is. It looks like a pinwheel design but is paper pieced like a traditional log cabin with the sides of the block at an angle to the center which is a triangle instead of the traditional square. It s easy piecing but gives a very dramatic look to the quilt. It s not hard but you will get a beautiful quilt in the end. You can make the quilt any size you wish, such as the size of the sample, 40 x 60, or any size larger or smaller. Willow Tree Instructor: Ann Kessel October 13 and 14 from 9:30-3:30 $60 The willow tree is a combination quilt and wool applique. The main quilt is made with cotton quilting fabric and the applique is combined with wool accents. It is a beautiful primitive piece that will add to your character of home. The willow tree has many symbols in life which varies for many people. What does the willow tree mean for you? Cold Days: Advanced Wool applique Instructor: Ann Kessel October 20, 2017 from 9:30 3:30 $40(+ $10 Pattern) This is for induviduals who have taken a begging wool applique course. The Cold Days project is just in time for winter. It can be a table topper or a pillow at approx. 8 X 35. You can use wool as your background or find some flannel or cotton to cover. Christmas Dresden Plate Instructor: Patti Prodonovich October 30, 2017 from 9:30-3:30 Gather some of your Christmas fabric leftover and make this cheery wall hanging or table topper for the Holidays. You will learn to make Dresden Plates the easy way. Add a little applique and the project is complete. Makes up quickly so you ll be able to make some great gifts in no time. 8

9 Highland Hearts Instructor: Laurie Donaldon October 31 and November 14 from 9:30 3:30 $60 This creative quilt will win your heart. It is easy to follow pattern and allows you to make in either table topper or lap size all the way to King. Join us for a heartfilled experience. Wool Purse: I Love to Stitch Instructor: Ann Kessel November 7 from 9:30 3:30 It is always fun to have a new purse to show around this time it is one you made with wool and applique. The class is for beginners and intermediates. Please join us for the love of stitching. Diva Wallet Instructor: Cindy Bender November 10 from 9:30 3:30 The Diva Wallet is a fun project that makes a great addition to your purse. It is individually crafted and can be made to match your wallet. It is a quick and easy wallet make of scraps or fat quarters along with the metal frame. Tumbling Topper Instructor: Jessica Diehl November 18 from 9:30 3:30 If you are in search of a long narrow topper this is the one for you. It can use scraps or precut squares. The Pattern is from Primative gatherings and comes with a template. (pattern is sold separately due to copyright. Available in store.) Learn to use small pieces and create big projects. Mini Dresdens Instructor: Patti Prodonovich November 27 from 9:30 3:30 Mini Dresden Plates Approx. 23 sq. This little scrappy wall hanging, or table topper will surely brighten up a room. In class, you will learn how to make Dresden Plates, accurate circles, and a flying geese pieced border. Approx. 23 sq. 9

10 Stitch up a Memory Instructor Laurie Donaldson Dec. 4 from 9:30am-3:30pm $40 Photographs provide us with reminders of special times in our lives. Why not combine fabric and photos to create one of a kind personalized memories. In this class, we will be creating a small wall hanging, by transferring an image onto a piece of 8 X 10 fabric and then completing the project with borders to create a beautiful fabric memory from a cherished photo or photos. (This process will not damage your original photo.) Photo transfer process will be briefly discussed. Mondo Bag Instructor: Cindy Bender December 8, from 9:30 3:30 This is a simple bag that finishes approximately 10 inches square on the bottom by 17 inches high. It uses fusible marked interfacing. You can add a pocket on the inside and a key strap if you wish. It is a great way to use Jelly roll strips or attack your stash for those favorite fabrics. You will need to have your squares cut before the class. Minimum 4 students for this all day session. Software - Premier Extra August 22, Part 1 & August 24, Part 2 1:00pm 4:00pm September 16 Part 1 & Part 2 10:00-3:3 Free for those who purchased at The Sew n Place. You will learn how to set up your program with your own preferences plus much more. You'll learn how to convert your designs to pictures, zip a group of designs, print work sheets, and more. You'll learn how to add letters to your design, change colors, add frames, create monograms, and edit your designs, this and more. Software must be installed and dongle activated before class day. Instructor: Janie Reed Software - Premier Create (Digitizing) August 29 and 31 from 1:00 4:00 Part 1 and Part 2 September 19 and 21 from 1:00-4:00 Part 1 and Part 2 Free for those who purchased at The Sew n Place. This class teaches the functions and tools of the Design Creator program. You will learn to digitize from clip art, how to change the fills, create your own fills, change density, plus much more. Instructor: Janie Reed Software - Premier Modify (Stitch Editor) September 7 from 1:00 4:00 Free for those who purchased at The Sew n Place. In this class we will start in Design Creator creating a design and taking it into Stitch Editor. In Stitch Editor we will fix any flaws, add words from 6D Embroidery, add and remove stitches, add trims where needed, and save. Must have taken digitizing class or be knowledgeable of the tools and functions of the Design Creator program. Instructor: Janie Reed 10
