3 IMPORTANT PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE SIGNING UP FOR CLASSES Space is limited in all of our classes. Please, sign up early! Please let us know at least 2 weeks in advance if you need to back out of a class. Our teachers work very hard preparing for class and to do so properly, they need to have a head count a couple of weeks before the class begins. Because all class fees go to our teachers, we cannot refund class fees if you do not show up for a class or if you cancel less than 1 week before the start of the class. CLASS DISCOUNTS! Receive a 15% discount on any supply you need for a class! RECEIVE a 15% Discount on fabrics, notions, books, etc. during the class! We encourage you to make sure that the class has the minimum enrollment before you purchase supplies. When you register for a class, you must pay the class fee in order to hold your seat. If at the time of registration a supply list for the class is not available, please check back with us no later than 2 weeks prior to the first class so we can get you one. If at all possible, please come to class at least 15 minutes early. It makes it much easier for the teacher to begin at the designated time and doesn t take away from the other students. We encourage students not to wear perfumes as many people are allergic. Please label your belongings, so if anything is left behind, we ll know who it belongs to. If for any reason a class is cancelled, we will refund your class fee.

4 Viking Club Viking club is geared toward owners of Viking sewing machines. Much of the time, a simple Viking sewing machine will be fine because much of what is taught will focus on techniques, presser feet and tools to help you to sew "smarter". The upcoming projects we will be featuring are tailor made for you, the club member. Because of this, there is no defined plan for projects in the upcoming months the projects are defined by club members. If you've not yet joined our Viking club, you will need to leave us your information so our instructor can help get you into an appropriate club for your skill level. We will be making accessories for handbags as well. The projects are defined by club members. Instructor: Bernice Shytle Handbag Club Dates - $15 per session Sep 6 from 5-8 Juki Club The Juki Club is for those who own the Juki F or G series sewing machines. We will be making projects that will use some of the wonderful stitches and features exclusive to your machine. Projects are defined by the club members. Instructor: Bernice Shytle Juki Club Dates - $15 per session Sep 20 from 9:30-12:30 Log Cabin Club 2 Explore all types of Log Cabins including traditional square cabins, triangular and hexagon cabins, Wonky cabins, thick and thin, half Log Cabins, and much more. Each month will be a different block (or sometimes two) and all the blocks will be made using my Perfect Strips technique that uses no foundations or paper piecing, requires very little pre-cutting, results in very square and accurately sized blocks, and is scrap friendly. 5 Prairie Woman s Sewing Circle Gather together as the Prairie Women did, and hear anecdotal stories about their quilt-making, and what daily life was like for those who traveled by wagon train on the Oregon Trail, to the lives of quilters during the Civil War, and the years of women s suffrage for equal rights. A fee of $35.00 at sign up provides you with monthly patterns. Your hostess will be Karen Brindle. 7 Classes Intro to Quilting Fridays, July 8 & 15 9:30 3:30 $60 Have you ever wanted to quilt and thought... I can't it s too hard. Well yes you can! Come learn to piece a quilt with basic techniques, baste it, quilt it and bind it. The introduction to quilting will let you create a doll size quilt to get you started with a fun and easy hobby. There will be homework in between and a lot of fun to fill the time. Please get supply list when signing up. Minimum of 2. Instructor: Jessica Diehl Software - Premier Extra Tuesday, July 12 Part 1 Thursday, July 14 Part 2 1:00 4:00 Free for those who purchased at The Sew n Place. You will learn how to set up your program with your own preferences plus much more. You'll learn how to convert your designs to pictures, zip a group of designs, print work sheets, and more. You'll learn how to add letters to your design, change colors, add frames, create monograms, edit your designs, this and more. Software must be installed and dongle activated before class day. Hager s Fancy Monday, July 18 9:30 3:30 $35 This quilt is literally made from scraps a real stash buster. Hager s Fancy is designed with 2 blocks the Ohio Star and Churn Dash. Together they form and underlying pattern. In this class you will learn to make the hour glass block and accurate halfsquare triangles. Both of these techniques can be applied to many future quilts. The braided border is easy to make and frames this or any quilt with a little flair. Once you learn to make this border you ll want to use it again and again. Instructor: Patty Prodonovich

9 Stars & Crescents Mondays, August 1, 8, & 15 9:30 12:30 $50 This quilt is very similar to the Stack N' Whack method of making blocks, but you can make any size star you want even up to a 90 star for in the middle of a large quilt. The quilt you will be making will a 52 wall hanging with a 34 eight-pointed star as the middle of the wall hanging with crescent circles around the borders. You can also add smaller eight-pointed stars to the design if you wish. If you have ever done a One Block Wonder, Dresden Plate or Stack N' Whack quilt you know how much fun it is to do this method. The fun comes in when you open up the stacks of 8 diamond or crescent shaped pieces and lay them out and each set is a different design. It really is addictive. Come and join the fun and become addicted too. Instructor: Dottie Moreland Jack in the Blocks Tuesday, August 2 9:30 3:30 $35 Join us to make this sweet table runner. You will learn techniques that you can use in many future project, such as accurate half-square triangles and flying geese 4 at a time. This project makes up really quickly. The model uses the Americana color scheme, but you can vary the colors to match any décor. Instructor: Patty Prodonovich

10 Mondo Bag Friday, August 5 9:30 3:30 $35 This is a simple bag that finished approximately 10 inches square on the bottom x 17 inches high, using fusible marked interfacing. You can add a pocket on the inside & a key strap is you wish. A great way to use jelly roll strips or attack your stash for those favorite fabrics. 11 English Paper Piecing Monday, August 8 1:00 4:00 $25 The hand stitching of English Paper Piecing is a calming pastime and I ve designed a charming small purse project to give you a chance to try it out without making any big commitments. Once you are addicted to hexies, you won t have any trouble finding big projects to suck you in!! We ll look at basting and gluing for the first step in the process, talk about the best needles and thread to use and stitch up a group of 1 hexagons for you to use as you wish. I ll provide the hexie papers! The little clip purse sample on display is just one idea! Bring a stack of forty to fifty 2½ fabric squares from your stash scrappy or coordinated! Minimum 4 students. Instructor: Mary Huey Fun & Easy Free Motion Quilting Monday, August 11 9:30 12:30 $25 Have you always wanted to learn how to free motion quilt? Have you tried it and found it too hard? Let me help you overcome your fears and gain confidence in this relaxed and fun class. We ll start with a basic meander, and then move on to some other simple free motion patterns that you can do with ease. The key to successful free motion quilting is to relax and have fun and practice! 12 Software - Premier Create (Digitizing) Tuesday, August 16 Part 1 Thursday, August 18 Part 2 1:00 4:00 Free for those who purchased at The Sew n Place. This class teaches the functions and tools of the Design Creator program. You will learn to digitize from clip art, how to change the fills, create your own fills, change density, plus much more. Instructor: Janie Reed Beach Bowl Monday, August 22 9:30 3:30 $45 Add a touch of the Beach to any room with this adorable paper pieced wall hanging. The bowl of seashells and starfish is inspired by the elements of the ocean and captured in fabric. The bowl block is about 10 x 10 inches finished and can be made as seen here as a wall hanging or into a pillow or use as an accent on a tote or even framed for a more formal look. The project is a paper pieced technique and uses mostly scraps of fabric. The cost of the class includes the cost of the pattern and the sewing papers. Instructor: Laurie Donaldson Make a T-Shirt Quilt Tuesdays, August 23 & 30 1:00 4:00 $40 T-shirt quilts make great gifts for that grad heading off to college! Turn that stack of t- shirts from high school into a treasured quilt! In this class, you'll learn what layouts work best, how to stabilize the t-shirts, how to calculate the fabric for sashing and borders, and how to finish the quilt. In the first session, we'll measure the shirts, decide on a layout, and calculate sashing yardage. I'll show you how to stabilize the shirts and cut them to the final size. In the last session, we'll work on putting the stabilized shirts together into a finished top and talk about quilting options. Instructor: Patti Laird

Not like Chubby Checker, although you may if you wish With some prep work, you can be ready to twist into a fun & fast quilt top in this one session class. We will use CS Designs Twister tool to recut your prepared 6x6 base block. Minimum 4 students Instructor: Cindy Bender Software - Premier Modify (Stitch Editor) Thursday, September 6 1:00 4:00 Free for those who purchased at The Sew n Place. In this class we will start in Design Creator creating a design and taking it into Stitch Editor. In Stitch Editor we will fix any flaws, add words from 6D Embroidery, add and remove stitches, add trims where needed, and save. Must have taken digitizing class or be knowledgeable of the tools and functions of the Design Creator program. Instructor: Janie Reed Big Stitch Hand Quilting Thursday, September 8 1:00 4:00 $30 With big stitch, you can enjoy hand quilting without the stress of striving for small stitches. You may use this stitch as an embellishment, as primitive style stitching, or for the entire quilt. Using the big stitch and contrasting thread will accent your quilting stitches. For class, you need to bring only scissors and thimbles (bring an assortment to try). The class fee is $30, which includes a kit with specialty needles, thread, a threader, and pre-marked fabric for the project. Instructor: Pat McGraw

14 Flower Basket Quilt Fridays, September 9 & 16 9:30 3:30 $50 The best of both worlds can be found in the "Flower Baskets Galore" class. This class will create a quilt that will have both quilting and embroidery utilized. It can be done with color or as red-work. It is a two day class that will require purchasing the embroidery software utilized. Spend some summer days with us putting together some baskets of flowers. Instructor: Jessica Diehl Garden of Memories Mondays, September 12 & 26 1:00 4:00 $50 Based on the traditional Grandmother s Flower Garden pattern, this wall hanging combines traditional piecing with modern photo transfer of memories onto fabric and then appliqued into the petals of the flower. This class will be taught in 2 parts, and features a variety of simple and fun techniques for both the beginner and experienced sewer/quilter. The first class will teach the technique for completing the hexagon pieces and preparing the photos. The second class will concentrate on the construction of the wall hanging. Other techniques taught will include applique and piecing. Project is suited for all skill levels. Cost of class includes 2 photo transfer papers. Instructor: Laurie Donaldson

15 Fat Quarter Twist Saturday, September 24 9:30 3:30 $40 This is a quick and easy quilt that uses 8 fat quarters and a coordinating fabric. You make the half-square triangle border at the same time as you are sewing the center. It s my most popular original pattern and looks great in any colorway. The finished quilt is 64" x 76" but it can easily be increased in size by changing the number of fat quarters used or increasing the number or size of the borders.
