You are welcome to send a friend in your place if you cannot attend, but we will be unable to refund the tuition. For their safety, we cannot allow children to attend an adult sewing class with you. You will receive a 10% discount on any specified class supplies you purchase at Paramount - just be sure to tell us the name of the class you are taking. To comply with U.S. copyright laws, if an instructor specifies a book, embroidery card, embroidery CD or design for the class, each student must own their own copy. If you d like to use one of our machines for a class, just let us know a day or two before the class. This is a great way to "test drive" a new machine. For all-day classes, you will have a lunch break. You may bring a lunch (we have a refrigerator & microwave) or you can purchase lunch nearby. 4 CALENDAR QUILTS Saturday, March 2, am - 4 pm Instructor: Susan Stark Phone: Page 2 of 2 I have listed a number of different feet. You do not need to have all of them, but we will discuss using all of them in class. If you have them, bring them. If you don t that s ok, you ll be able to learn about them. You will need to purchase the Book and Patterns by Kim Schaeffer Kim Schaeffer s Calendar Quilts. * The patterns are all included with the book. You will want to get the book ahead of time in order to select the quilt you want to make, and see the yardage requirements for your quilt of choice. These little quilts are great stash busters! If you have a lot of scrap pieces feel free to bring a good assortment to choose from during class. The book is available to special order here at Paramount, please allow enough time to get it in prior to class. You will also need to purchase a double sided fusible web. We carry Steam a Seam light 2* and Floriani s Appli- Kay Wonder. Both are good choices. You may also want to purchase a non stick ironing and crafting sheet, which will keep your iron safe from the sticky stuff on the fusible web and save you lots of time cleaning it off, should you put the iron to the wrong side of the fusible we. Ask me how I know this. : / We carry the BoNash Giant Sheet* available here. You will also need thread for piecing your quilt together, and decorative thread for your appliqué/embellishment work. We carry a wide selection of great threads*! If you have ric-rac, ribbon, special threads or yarns, beads, or anything else that you may want to use for embellishment, feel free to bring them with you. You will get some great ideas for incorporating these items into your projects. All the quilts have a center that will consist of /2 x 4-1/2 blocks. Please have them cut and sewn together prior to class they should be sewn in rows of 3 across and 5 down (see diagram). Center Blocks All the quilts will have an outside border that will consist of /2 blocks. Please cut them and bring them to class. If you have done appliqué work before and are comfortable cutting out the pieces for your project you may cut them ahead of time. This will give you more time in class to play with different appliqué and embellishing techniques. If not, you are welcome to cut them out in class.in that case, you may want to consider starting with a quilt with less pieces to cut out. You will also need a 24 X 32 piece of batting, 1 yard of fabric for your backing and binding, and some quilting safety pins*. We may not finish the entire project in class, but you will have the knowledge to be able to finish at home. The amount of time it takes to do the appliqué and embellish can vary, depending on how little or how much you decide to do. *Notions and supplies purchased for classes at Paramount receive a 15% class discount. Come prepared to have a great time!!! Page 2 of 2
