2 Picnic Bag with Pop-up Embellishments (Intermediate skill level) The picnic bag is fun to sew and is decorated with some of the bonus designs that comes with your Husqvarna Viking HICLASS 600E Embroidery machine. Sewing supplies Husqvarna Viking HICLASS 600E machine and embroidery unit White cotton (seed coat) 50x140cm (20 x55 )or (1/2 yard on full width) Chequered cotton for lining 50x140cm (20 x55 ) 100% Cotton batting 50x140cm (20 x55 ) Pink Polyester Organza 25cm x140cm (10 x 55 ) Leather (to the handle fix) 25x5cm (10 x2 ) Water soluble stabiliser 33x300 cm(13 x 3,3yard) Cotton cord 7mm (1/2 ) 90 cm (1yard) Buttons: 4 Sewing thread Robison Anton Rayon 40 wt Embroidery thread Bobbin thread Inspira Embroidery needle #75 (# ) Pictogram Pen Grace Company True Cut Rotary Cutter True Cut Quilting Mat (24 x 36 ) True Cut Quilting Ruler Embroidery scissors 3. Trace straight illu lines 1 on the fabric with your Pictogram with 2,5 cm (1 ) apart. 4. Select a triple straight stitch on your Husqvarna Viking HICLASS 600E and sew straight stitching following the marked lines. 5. Place the side pieces right side together. Pin. Sew a straight stitch along the sides. 6. Open up the bag so you get a tube. Pin the bottom piece to the sides of the bag. Make sure you have right sides together. Sew a straight stitch. Turn inside out. Trim seam allowances if necessary. Cut: White cotton: Cut the pattern pieces for the bag Cut the handles on the bias 48x 6,5 cm (19 x2 ½ ) Chequered cotton: Cut the lining pieces for the bag Cut a bias for the piping 110 x 5,5 cm(44 x 2 ½ ) Pink Polyester Organza Two pieces for the flower embroideries 300 mm x 240mm (12 x 10 ) Leather: Cut 4 pieces for the handle fix Cord: Cut the cotton cord in two 45cm pieces (1/2 ) Batting: Cut the pattern pieces for the sides and bottom of the bag. Assembly instructions 1. Pin the batting together with the white cotton sides and bottom pieces. 2. Thread your Husqvarna Viking HICLASS 600E Sewing machine with sewing thread in the top and bobbin thread. 7. Fold 6 mm (1/4 ) on the handle pieces along both sides. Press. 8. Place the cord on the fabric and fold. Use Husqvarna Viking Mega Piping Foot and stitch a straight stitch along the edge of the handles. 9. Place the handles on the sides of the bag to your liking; make sure they are even on both sides. Pin. Sew a straight stitch to fix the handles. 2

3 illu 1 illu Cut and place the leather handle fix on top of the end of the handle strip. Pin. Stitch a straight stitch following the edge of the leather piece. Repeat this on all handle fixes. 4 illu Hoop the Pink Organza and water soluble and embroider the 3 large flowers and the 4 small flowers. 20. When the embroidery is finished rinse your designs in water. 21. Once you are finished your embroideries attach them to your bag between one of the handles with a small straight stitch in the same color as the embroideries. 11.Place a button on top of the leather pieces and use the easy to sew on button function. illu 4 illu 5 5 Continued assembly instructions 22. Thread your Husqvarna Viking HICLASS 600E Embroidery machine with sewing thread in the top and thread. 23. Place the side lining pieces right side together. Pin. Sew a straight stitch on the sides. 24. Open up the bag so you get a tube. Pin the bottom lining piece to the sides of the bag. Make sure you have right sides together. Sew a straight stitch. 25. Pin the bag with the lining wrong sides together. Sew a straight stitch following the top edge with a presser feet width allowance. EMBROIDERY 12. We have embroidered butterflies and flowers from the USB stick that came with your Husqvarna Viking HICLASS 600E Embroidery machine. illu 6 illu Insert the USB stick into the USB port of your computer. 14. Go to File, click on Bonus Embroidery designs. 15. Click on the Butterflies folder. Select design Butterfly. xxx Double click on the design to load it into the software. 26. Pin the lining bias right sides together with the bag along the edge. Sew a straight stitch with a presser feet width allowance. 17. Thread your embroidery machine with Robison Anton embroidery thread 40 wt in the top and bobbin thread in the bobbin. 18. Hoop with water soluble in your hoop. Embroider two butterflies. 27. Fold the bias over the edge towards the lining. Pin. Press. Sew in the ditch from the right side of the bag. Press. Have a fantastic picnic! 3
