1 New Owner Classes - Sewing, Serging & Embroidery These New Owner instructional lessons are FREE and are reserved for customers who purchased their machine from us. Please register to receive your list of supplies you need to bring to class. Some classes have a kit fee. Many of these classes have workbooks you will need to print out before class. Feb. 14 Sewing Machine Quick Start - Zippered Bag This class will cover: straight line quilting, zipper insertion, buttonhole, sewing on buttons, seams and seam finishes. Feb (bring lunch or a snack) MyBERNINA Embroidery 101 Learn the basics of your BERNINA embroidery machine: stabilizers, hooping, stitching a design, lettering, and combinations. Deco 340 Mon. Jan. 23 Aurora 430/440/450 Mon. Jan. 30 Artistas & 830 (630/635/640/730/830) Mon. Feb. 13 Embroidery Quick Start - Towel & T-shirt Pre-requisite: Embroidery 101 class. Embroider a towel and a t-shirt. Learn to hoop these two common embroidery items. Designs will be provided in class. Make sure you get the supply list before class. Sat. March (bring lunch or a snack) Serger Basics Learn the basics: threading, tension, 3 thread, 4 thread, rolled hem, flatlocking. Workbook Class. Two Classes. Wed. Jan. 18 & Serger Quick Start Zippered Bag Get comfortable using your serger in this 3-hour class. At the end of class, you ll have a zippered pouch perfect for storing your serger accessories. Kit Fee. Wed. Feb Retreat Become familiar with the features and functions of your machine and embroidery module. Play with pintucks, combi-mode, bobbin play, directional stitching, tapering stitches, and embroidery while making a 10 3/8 x 14 5/8 computer cozy/ portfolio. 2 day class. Set up your machine for the evening class and leave it over night for the next day s class. Saturday, Feb. 25 5:00-9:00 pm & Sunday, Feb. 26 1:00-5:00 pm Cutwork Tool Appliqué Lettering Cathy Learn cutwork tool basics as you learn to set up a word for appliqué in the Cutwork software. Send the design to your machine and embroider it. Free if you purchased your Cutwork Tool from us. Fri., Feb. 10 Page 1

2 JANUARY 2012 Rotary Cutting & Rulers Bonnie Learn fast and accurate cutting techniques using a rotary cutter and rulers. We will also learn how to use specialty rulers to help your projects come together easily. Wed. Jan $15 Stabilizer 101 Kate Attend this lecture to learn all about stabilizers and more. The way to perfect embroidery starts with the correct stabilizer. Very informative for the beginning or veteran embroiderer. Thurs. Jan or 6-8 $20 Installing New Fonts in the Software Cathy Learn how to download and install True Type fonts into your Designer Plus V6 or ArtDesign Software. Once you install them, you can use them as embroidery lettering. Fri. Jan. 20 $20 Make a T-Shirt Quilt Bonnie This is a great memory quilt to make with all of those t-shirts that you have been saving but don t wear anymore. This class will teach you how to prepare your t-shirts, plan your layout, piece, baste, quilt, and bind your quilt. Wed. Jan. 25, Feb. 1 & 8 $60 Monogram Mania Kate Learn all about many different ways to create monograms for yourself or for the perfect gift. You will learn to use the lettering in your machine to make very creative monograms. We will monogram a towel to practice what you learn! Thurs. Jan. 26 $20 Serger Blanket with Sleeves Cathy This fun blanket is made on the serger. Add a decorative edge finish using specialty serger threads; or, if you have the 1300 Model, learn to hem the edges with the Cover Stitch. Pre-requisite: Serger Basics. Fri., Jan. 27 $20 FEBRUARY 2012 Embroidery on Paper Kate Learn all the tips and tricks of doing beautiful embroidery on paper. You can make a beautiful greeting card faster than you can run to the store to get one. Thurs. Feb. 2 $20 Shirring Construction for Girl s Clothing Marcia Girl s peasant top with shirring substituted for elastic casings. Learn to set up your sewing machine to use elastic thread and create this fun finish. Mon. Feb. 6 $20 Chalkboard Take Along Mat Kate Make this mat for that special child using chalkboard fabric on one side and laminated fabric on the outside. Feb (bring a snack or lunch) $30 Paper Piecing Table Runner Bonnie Learn to make perfect points through paper piecing. We will learn the basics of paper piecing, basting, quilting and binding while making a beautiful table runner designed by Judy Neimeyer. 3 classes. Wed. Feb. 15, 22 & 29 $60 Appliqué in the Hoop Baby Bib Kate You will learn how to do perfect appliqué in the embroidery hoop and have a beautiful bib to take home. The design is included so you can make many more of these for gifts for that special new baby. Thurs. Feb. 16 $20 Cutwork Tool - Chubby Chicks Quilt Cathy Learn to use the Cutwork Tool software to create this cute appliqué design. Use the software to create the appliqué and the cutting file for the chicks. We will create the appliqué files, cut out the chicks and appliqué them onto the base fabric. Fri., Feb. 17 & 24 $40 Embroidery on Jeans Kate Have you been wanting to embroider on jeans but didn't know where to start? Bring in old or new jeans that need a little pizzazz and learn all you need to know. Thurs. Feb. 23 $20 Girl s Knit Pants Marcia Learn to make those cute knit pants with the ruffle at the hem that we would pay so much for at the boutique. Get over your fear of knit! It s Fun. Mon. Feb. 27 $20 Serger Placemat & Napkins Cathy Very quick and easy placemats made on your serger. Use a decorative thread to add a special touch to the edges. Make a set of four in class. Tues., Feb. 28 $20 MARCH 2012 Cloth Baby Shoes Kate Learn to make cute cloth shoes to keep those tiny feet warm. For baby boys or girls, you can make shoes to co-ordinate with any outfit. Thurs. March 1 $20 Skirts, Skirts, Skirts for Children Marcia Feel confident in skirt making as you learn the basics involved in designing your own skirt patterns. 4 MARCH 2012, continued Baby Love Quilt Cathy This adorable quilt features serger rolled hemming and sewing machine ruffling. You can make this for a baby or change the fabric and make it for anyone. If you don t own a serger, we can set one up for you to use in class. This is a combination serger and sewing machine class. Two classes. Wed. March 7 & 14 $40 Cloth Doll & Dress Kate In this 2 week class, you will make a precious 18" cloth doll the first week and dress her the second week. You can customize her perfectly for that special little girl. You can machine or hand embroider the face with the design provided with the class. Thurs. March 8 & 15 $40 Ruffled Flowers Marcia Learn to create ruffled flowers for embellishments on t-shirts, headbands, etc. Mon., March 12 $20 Beginning Sewing : Apron Cathy Learn to sew: reading pattern, choosing fabric, layout and cutting of fabric, seams, and topstitching. Make the apron for an adult or child. Misses' and Girls' aprons, each in three sizes, have flounce, patch pocket, and ties at back neck and waist. Pocket and flounce are made from contrast fabric. Three classes. If you don t own a machine, we can provide one for you in class. Adult Class. Tues. March 13, 20, & 27 $60 Duffle Bag Dianne Sew a beautiful duffle bag. Quilt your own fabric, insert a zipper, sew a handle, make pockets and overcast your edges. You may want to include a monogram on an outside pocket. Two classes. Fri., March 16 & 23 $40 Baby Buggy Blanket w/ruffle Cathy Pretty little baby blankets. You can never have enough. Use pre-ruffled satin or make your own ruffles using the Ruffling foot. Posh and cute, any mother will love them. Mon. March 19 $20 Quilter s Tote Bonnie As quilters, we collect lots of tools. This tote is made for the tools you have as we customize the pockets to meet your needs. Now you can go to class cute and organized. Two classes. Wed. March 21 & 28 $40 Cuddle Cloths Cathy Burp cloths have never been so sweet! 18 x 22 they are the perfect size for burping baby. Make a half dozen for a shower or baby gift.
