You won t want to miss it! President's Note Well, another summer is in full swing. I can't say that I've been sewing very much lately. I've been doing a lot of summer activities instead. Gardening, sitting on the porch, going to the ice cream store, watching the kid's ball games, stuff like that. I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has helped with the guild activities. I truly appreciate your time and efforts. We wouldn't be a guild without you. I did miss the June meeting but I have my priorities back in line and I will be at the July meeting. I hope to see everyone. We have a lot of good things going on. Have a wonderful week! 2 September 10-12, 2015 Retreat Christian Conference Center Newton, Ia Registration will be at our July and August Guild meetings. Since it is summer and folks may not be able to be at the guild meeting, just send me an if you wish to attend. Please determine who your roommates will be and register all at the same time. I will have a sewing room layout for you to mark your seating preferences. I will try to honor your wishes as much as possible. Again, you will not be guaranteed an upstairs room, so please keep this in mind as you consider your ability to attend. The retreat provides hotel type rooms with bed linens and bath towels, Wi-Fi, and satellite TVs. There will be two meals per day, a late breakfast and dinner, for Friday and Saturday. Dinner will be provided on Thursday. Please make plans for your lunch on that day. The retreat begins at 8:00am on Thursday and ends at 8:00pm on Saturday. All costs are on the registration form. This is a retreat that is very low key. If you translate that sentence, it means that I m not a party planner.. :) Thank you, Julie Quilt of Valor The Quilt of Valor presented to Marianne Fons will hang at the National Quilt Museum in Paducah as part of their QOV display this fall from August 20 to November 11. The quilts in this exhibit have been made to honor those who have served our country. Combine your rows in any way to create a unique quilt that represents the fun you had traveling throughout the summer. Travel with friends, discover new quilt shops and have fun collecting rows! Create a quilt using at least 8 different 2015 rows from 8 different 2015 participating RxR shops and be the first to bring it into a participating shop to win a stack of 25 fat quarters (6-1/4 yards of fabric!). Becky Goldsmith Workshop Blowin' In The Wind 6-Hour Class Sunday, August pm to 7 pm This class focuses on a variety of techniques including the invisible stitch, 2-part leaves, and outer points.
