An eclectic gathering of quilts (25-30) from my studio. Some made by myself. Some Vintage. Some Traditional. Some Art. Something for everyone. Because after all there is enough fabric in the studio to make both Art and Traditional Quilts. There are spots still available for the workshop on Sunday, March 16th at 1:00. If you are interested in the workshop contact Rita at to sign up. The cost of the workshop is $25. Charm Packs those delightful sets of 5 inch squares of fabric. Who can resist?!? Well I couldn t so I designed a pattern that allows you to put them into a charming little wall quilt. But wait you could make 9 of these little quilts for a unique full size sampler quilt. Hmmm the possibilities are endless Pillows? Refugee Resettlement Program (Catholic Charities) Twin Quilts for adults and children Pleasant Hill Residential for mentally disabled US male veterans Twin Quilts (red-white-blue would be great!) Altoona Nursing & Rehab Lap Quilts for wheel chair residents approx. 42 x50 (flannel backing) Lighthouse Transitional Living Program Polk County Youth & Shelter Services For pregnant & parenting young women Quilts for infant to preschool age Rhonda Leyda will join us at our March meeting to tell us about the Lighthouse program. Questions, call Sheri Olson ( ) or Pat Felderman at ( ). Community Sew Day Please join me Saturday, March 15 th, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM at Lutheran Church of the Cross for Community Sew Day. Come for the day or just a couple of hours, whatever works for your schedule. I am in the process of putting together kits with a couple new patterns to try out this year. THANK YOU all who donated fabric last year! Each kit will contain a pattern and fabric for a twin-size quilt top. Please bring your sewing machine, beige and/or gray thread, a rotary cutter, a ruler or two and supplies to sew-sew-sew!!! Irons, ironing boards and cutting mats will be available for your use. Bring an extension cord. You are more than welcome to bring a donation quilt of your own to work on or use one of the kits. Either way, you will be responsible for providing the batting, backing and binding to finish the quilt. I will try to have a list of people you can contact to help you out with the quilting. Everyone is welcome to join in the sewing. You do not need to be an EPQG Member to participate. Remember, this is a Community Day. Lunch will be provided. And for you ladies who know me... No! The member whose name is first in the list each month is the coordinator for the refreshments that month. Please remember the responsibilities of the refreshment committee each month: 1) Supply the goodies. 2) Supply the paper and plastic utensils. 3) Clean up after. 4) Take garbage out. Dumpster is right outside the back door. It is important that each one of us remains committed to these small responsibilities each month. Thanks!! Starting at 9 am, it is a day to get together and work on a project of your choice. Everyone is welcome. You do not need to be a member of the guild to attend. Bring your lunch and join us. 4 *****2014 President s Challenge***** The President s Challenge for 2014 is Traditional Block and Colors of Chance. You draw from a box of chance a small bag that that will have the name of a traditional block plus 3 colored crayons. These are the colors that you will use in the quilt. The rules are: You need to use the traditional block 3 times in the quilt. You need to use all 3 colors in the quilt. Size of the quilt must be 3 x 3. Quilt must be completely done. Bring your finished entry to the June meeting. Attach baggie to the quilt with the crayons in it and name of the traditional block. That is it. Go all traditional or mix the traditional with modern. Be creative and think out of the box. Have fun!!!
