3 M E C H A T R O N I C C O N T R O L S O L U T I O N S Overview New Eagle J1939 Library fr MtHawk The New Eagle J1939 Prtcl Library fr OBD (On-Bard Diagnstics) r EMD (Engine Management Diagnstics) ffers an easy t use apprach t add J1939 prtcl supprt t any existing r new MtHawk prject. It handles the cmplex netwrk management and transmissin requirements f the J1939 prtcl, such as message packing, errr handling and crdinated multi-frame message transimissin, which allws fast develpment f a J1939 cmpatible applicatin. In additin t applicatin level messaging defined in J which is prvided with an easy t use SPN/PGN blck interface, this library seamlessly interfaces with the MtHawk OBD Fault Manager behind the scenes t prvide diagnstic truble cde messages such as DM1 defined in J This blckset has been used successfully in creating a prductin EPA/CARB OBD-HD cmpliant engine applicatin. Technical Overview The New Eagle J1939 (OBD/EMD) Library implements the Netwrk Management (J ), Data Link (J ) and Applicatin Diagnstic (J ) layers as described in the J1939 prtcl specificatin. The library's Simulink blcks and cde generatin prvide simple supprt fr the cmplex features f J1939. The New Eagle J1939 Library includes supprt fr BAMs, RQSTs, ACK/NACK, RTS/CTS, ptimized multi-frame PGN transprt, and Address Claiming, amng ther cnsideratins. The blcks that make up the New Eagle J1939 Libraries use a cmbinatin f custm S-functins as an existing MtHawk blcks t allw the user t efficiently add the J1939 prtcl t any prject. This ensures cntinued cmpatibility with future MtHawk releases and cntrller families. The New Eagle J1939 Library uses the J1939 structure f PGNs and SPNs. This makes it simple t integrate int an existing mdel by allwing the user t define SPNs thrughut the mdel. The Library will autmatically cllect and manage the SPN data required fr each PGN message, ptimizing speed and memry usage and simplifying the mdel layut. The separatin f SPNs and PGNs greatly simplifies the prcess f adding supprt fr additinal PGNs. It allws the cmmunicatin functins (PGNs) f the mdule t be cllected in a cmmn lcatin in the Simulink mdel t simplify netwrk management functins and allws the SPNs t be set near where they are calculated t minimize signal ruting in the mdel. The OBD Custm Fields feature f the fault manager is used t define SPN, FMI, and ccurrence cunt values fr each fault and manage the additinal infrmatin required fr J1939 cmpliance. Diagnstic Message Supprt New Eagle ffers tw levels f Diagnstic Message supprt with the J1939 Prtcl Library: CCR 1971 Engine Manufacturers Diagnstics (EMD) CCR Onbard Diagnstics fr Heavy Duty (HD-OBD) These tw levels target different emissins regulatin identifiers as shwn belw. NE-J1939-EMD-LIB prvides a lw cst entry pint t J1939 prtcl supprt. This level prvides the cmmn messaging required fr interfacing with instrument clusters including basic fault messages fr cluster lights and interface panel fault readut. When its time t target emissins certificatin, upgrading t NE-J1939-OBD- LIB includes the additinal messaging and capability required such as emissins-related DTC cdes and extended freeze frame supprt.
