2 Cnfigure Wavefrms Quickly and Easily Signal Studi fr WLAN prvides a flexible, intuitive graphical user interface that makes peratin easy and straightfrward. All signal and hardware parameters are cnveniently set in a windws interface. Graphical displays make it easy t cnfirm the parameters yu ve chsen, such as cding and mdulatin, paylad data setup, distributin f pwer (CCDF), and pwer envelpe. Figure 1. 4 Cmpnent Test Use the basic mde t access the sftware s physical layer (PHY) frame setup parameters and quickly generate statistically crrect a/b/g/j/p and n signals t test transmissin r receiver chain cmpnents, such as preamplifiers, filters, cmbiners r amplifiers. Cnfigure individual carrier elements and channel cding parameters such as mdulatin type, paylad data, partially cded channel data, cding rate, preamble and amplitude. Set the generatin mde t unframe r frame, and select the baseband filter t prvide adequate stress n the cmpnents being tested. Figure 2. Use basic mde t generate statistically crrect a/b/g/j/p r n signals Receiver Test The advanced mde prvides additinal features t help yu create IEEE WLAN standard-cmpliant frame structures fr testing receiver designs in all stages f develpment. Use the baseband signal t perfrm demdulatin and decding verificatin n ASIC and DSP chips. T thrughly test the demdulatin capabilities f a receiver, a test signal that is fully cded is necessary. This level f cding enables yu t determine if each functinal stage f a receiver is perating crrectly, and enables yu t use this test signal t perfrm FER/PER and BER measurements. Signal Studi fr WLAN creates fully cded frames, that enable yu t use this test signal t perfrm yur FER and PER measurements. The MAC parameters include MAC header setting, selectable MAC FCS, sequence cntrl, data type, and data length. The user s equipment can cmpare the FCS transmitted frm the surce t determine hw many packets were sent frm the surce t the receiver were lst t measure PER. The receiver can determine if there is a missing frame r if the frame has been retransmitted by lking at the sequence cntrl field. A multiframe wavefrm with an incrementing Sequence Cntrl field can be created. Fr n ptin, MAC als supprt Aggregatin MPDU mde. Each frame can be fully cded with cnvlutinal cding r scrambling, and interleaving. Yu als have the flexibility t cnfigure individual frame parameters, such as mdulatin type, cding rate and preamble type. 4

Micrsft.Net-Based API The Micrsft.NET-based applicatin prgramming interface (API) is prvided t enable systematic and efficient cnfiguratin f cmplex WLAN a/b/g/j/p/n wavefrm. It allws prgrammatic setting f signal parameters by imprting custm data sets r using prgramming lps and mathematical functins rather than manually entering data in the Signal Studi graphical user interface. The entire signal cnfiguratin and playback prcess can easily be autmated in yur wn prgramming envirnment using the API. Included with the sftware is a full API. Use the API t set parameters either prgrammatically r by using an API graphical user interface. The API's built-in Help System prvides prgramming examples that yu can easily leverage. 5
