2. Operating Instructins -User Guide- This guide prvides step-by-step instructins n pwering up, using and pwering dwn the meter. Figure 1. Key pad Layut NAVIGATION: The meter uses an n-screen, menu-driven apprach t navigate thrugh the meter features, allwing fr an intuitive understanding f keypad functins. Each screen presents the user with a number f selectable ptins. One f the ptins is always selected and the user can mve (navigate) the selectin t any ther available ptin. The keypad is aimed at prviding navigatinal cntrl, and nt at accessing specific features. There are fur directinal keys aligned intuitively arund a middle (fifth) key (see Figure 1): Abve (UP), belw (DOWN), t the right (RIGHT) and t the left (LEFT). The middle key is used t SELECT the ptin highlighted n the screen. INSTALLING THE BATTERY: The battery cmpartment is lcated n the underside f the case, at the bttm f the handle. i. Open the battery cmpartment by sliding the lid back while pressing n the release indent. ii. Ensure crrect plarity, and push the battery in flush with the bttm bard until the cnnectrs snap tgether n bth sides. iii. Replace the battery cmpartment lid. NOTE: DO NOT REMOVE THE BATTERY WITHOUT TURNING THE METER OFF FIRST. BATTERY REMOVAL WHILE THE METER IS ON MAY CAUSE LOSS OF STORED READINGS AND MAY CORRUPT THE STORAGE MEMORY. IF THIS OCCURS, CERTAIN FUNCTIONS (SUCH AS STATISTICS, READING RECALL, ETC) WILL FAIL AND LOCK UP THE METER. If the battery is remved by accident while the meter is ON, and if the readings already stred are imprtant, DO NOT stre additinal re adings. Turn the meter back n and perfrm a PC dwnlad. Beware that any readings stred during the pwer cycle that included the battery remval WILL NOT be available and CANNOT be recvered. Once the dwnlad is cmplete, perfrm a meter reset by chsing RESTORE DEFAULTS in the Strage Menu. If a dwnlad is nt necessary, g directly t RESTORE DEFAULTS. 4
LOW BATTERY: The meter features a battery status mnitr, designed t warn the user as well as prtect measurement accuracy frm impending battery failure cnditins. The battery warning is triggered by either cntinuus r temprary lw vltage cnditins. Visible (a battery icn n the tp right side f the display) and audible (buzzer) indicatrs accmpany a battery warning. Once a permanent lw battery cnditin is detected, all measurement functins are disabled. Enugh pwer remains fr ther menu functins, including a PC dwnlad, althugh almst any user actin at this time causes a lw-battery warning t be generated. The battery shuld be replaced immediately. If the battery reaches critical levels, the meter will refuse t stay n at pwer-up. This gradual warning system is intended t prvide the user advanced battery status ntice and give ample time fr replacement befre peratinal limitatins ccur. NOTE: Stred readings are nt lst during battery replacement r lw battery cnditins. Current meter settings are maintained as well. POWERING UP THE METER: I. Press and hld the center (SELECT) buttn. II. The meter switches n and displays the meter name and sftware versin fr a cuple f secnds. If the buttn is released during this time the meter will turn ff immediately. III. Fllwing the meter name/sftware versin screen, the meter switches the display t the Main Menu and pre-selects the PIN MODE ptin. Release the SELECT buttn at any time nw and the meter will remain ON. NOTE: Once the pwer-n cycle is cmplete, the center buttn returns t its main functin f selecting the currently highlighted ptin n the screen. 5
SETUP MENU: The Setup grup f features allws access t the cnfigurable parameters f the meter. They are: Date and Time, Pwer-ff time and Backlight. All can nly be accessed in the Setup Menu. Strage Menu entry descriptins: Return t Main Menu: This menu ptin returns the meter t Main Menu. The meter als returns t Main Menu if n user input is detected fr 20 Secnds. Set Date and Time: This menu ptin allws user access t the date and time set screen: The Date and Time set screen is ppulated with the time and date values present in the meter at access time. UP and DOWN key actin switches the rw selectin amng available parameters. LEFT and RIGHT key actin changes the selected parameter s value (fr DONE and CANCEL parameters withut assigned values, the LEFT and RIGHT keys perfrm n functin). All parameter values are incremented using the RIGHT key and decremented using the LEFT key. The DAY parameter mves frward thrugh weekdays using the RIGHT key and backward using the LEFT key. The SELECT (center) key is nly active when menu selectin is applied t HOURS (switch between standard r military time), DONE r CANCEL. Selecting DONE exits this screen back t the SETUP MENU and updates the clck with the newly chsen values. Selecting CANCEL exits this screen back t the SETUP MENU withut updating the clck. Set Pwer_Off time: This menu ptin allws the user t change the amunt f time allwed t lapse between the last key press and meter shut-dwn. Allwable range is 1min 9min, with a default value f 2min. 6
Set Backlight: This menu ptin allws the user t change the amunt f time allwed t lapse between the last key press and backlight shutdwn. The default setting fr this feature is NO, where the backlight is cmpletely disabled. Backlight shutdwn delays are 10, 20, 30sec. It is recmmended that the backlight delay be set t the minimum amunt f time necessary in rder t maximize battery life. NOTE: Except fr clck settings, all ther parameters will return t their default values, as indicated abve, when the RESTORE DEFAULTS ptin is selected in the Strage Menu. The values chsen fr the Setup Menu parameters will remain in effect even if the meter is turned f f, and even if the battery is remved. Meter Use This chapter describes each meter menu in detail, as well as the use f each meter feature. MAIN MENU: The RDM-3P Main Menu is the default screen at pwer-up. It prvides access t every available meter functin, as well as t each feature r feature categry. PIN MODE: This menu ptin selects the cntact paper scale Misture Cntent measurement functin Strage: This menu ptin selects Reading Strage and related features. They are: View Statistics, Stred Readings, Clear Memry, Restre Defaults IR Link: This menu ptin selects the PC dwnlad interface feature Setup: This menu ptin selects access t the rest f the meter features: Set Date and Time, Set Pwer-ff Time and, Set Backlight Off: This menu ptins turns the meter ff. It shuld be nted here that the meter will remember certain cnfigurable parameters thrugh t the next pwer -up. 7
Meter functins: PIN MODE: The RDM-3P perates n the principle f electrical resistance - it uses paper as the element in a circuit by driving tw electrde pins int it. This methd is effective because misture is an excellent cnductr f electricity and paper is an effective insulatr. The meter is able t stre MC measurement results fr review, statistical analysis r dwnlad t a PC. In rder t allw the user t better keep track f stred data, the meter rganizes MC readings in grups called JOBS. A reading cannt be taken r stred withut being part f a jb. There are n limitatins t a jb size, ther than thse impsed by strage memry limits. The meter supprts up t 98 different jbs at any ne time. The meter impses strict bundaries amng existing jbs. All peratins n stred data can nly be perfrmed n the jb selected. The meter restricts each jb t ne scale. Only readings taken frm the same scale can belng t a specific jb. Mre than ne jb can be defined with the same scale. RDM-3P autmatically cnfigures MC READ Mde with the fllwing default set f parameters when this feature is first accessed: Default scale: Paper Default Jb Number: 1 Alarm Off Mde Trig An example f the main PIN MODE screen is shwn belw: This screen prvides a cmplete snapsht f the current meter settings, as well as the current reading. In the upper left crner the meter indicates the current scale being measured. The large text in the line belw shws the current MC measurement. The Dry-Wet bar belw shws where the current reading falls between DRY and a user-defined WET cnditin. NOTE: The WET bar limit is directly tied t the Alarm value, when it is used. If the Alarm feature is ff, the WET bar limit is reached at a reading f 7% MC Paper. If anther scale is used, this value becmes the scale-crrected reading fr 7% MC Paper. Belw the Dry-Wet bar is an infrmatin area, shwing the jb number, alarm sett ing and the measurement mde. The EXIT ptin allws the user t exit this functin. The selected scale screen has bth selectable and nn-selectable items. 8
Nn-selectable items: SCALE NAME (tp line) DRY/WET bar The MEMORY status (tp right crner) Selectable items: MC reading (large text) JOB (current jb) ALARM (current alarm setting) MODE (current measurement mde) EXIT (leave MC READ Mde) NOTE: The default selectin n this screen is MC reading, which places the meter in measurement mde. Pressing the SELECT key causes a single reading t be taken (Triggered mde) r initiates a reading stream (Cntinuus mde). READ MODE CONTINUOUS/TRIGGERED The meter has tw measurement mdes: Triggered and Cntinuus. Chsing the MODE ptin and pressing the SELECT key will change the measurement mde. Triggered mde causes a single reading t be taken every time the SELECT buttn is pressed. Each reading is stred in memry. The last measurement remains displayed n the screen. Cntinuus mde starts by pressing the SELECT key. The meter keeps taking MC readings in this mde. These readings are NOT stred until the SELECT key is pressed again. T exit cntinuus mde WITHOUT STORING the current reading, press any directinal key (UP, DOWN, RIGHT, LEFT). T exit cntinuus mde and STORE the current reading, press the SELECT key. Exiting cntinuus mde leaves the last reading n the screen. T resume cntinuus mde, press the SELECT key again. Use the directinal keys t chse a different ptin. 9
CREATE/EDIT A JOB: This menu ptin selects the jb edit functin: This screen always begins by displaying the current jb. NOTE: If DONE is selected with the current jb n the screen, there can be tw utcmes: The current jb is empty; the meter will prceed t the Create Jb screen. This is dne t give the user the pprtunity t mdify the settings fr the current jb (this is pssible because n readings have been stred yet). The current jb is nt empty; the meter will immediately return t the MC READ Mde menu. This is the same as selecting CANCEL. Select JOB and use the LEFT r RIGHT keys t change the jb number t the ne desired. When finished, select DONE. T abandn, select CANCEL. If the selected jb des nt already exist, a Create Jb screen appears, such as this: This screen ffers the pprtunity t cnfigure the cmplete measurement envirnment, as applied t the new jb. All parameters are alterable while taking readings in the new jb, except fr the scale. Selecting ne f the three scales will bring yu back t the CREATE JOB screen. The navigatinal selectins are always at the bttm: Dne, Cancel. DONE brings the user t the MC READ screen, and CANCEL returns the user t the JOB EDIT screen. 10
ALARM SETTING: Click SELECT n the ALARM t switch the ALARM n and ff. If n, a Value% is shwn. Use the left/right switches t lwer r increase, and select DONE t return t the MC READ screen The ALARM feature in the meter prvides the user with a set -pint: readings abve a specified value (cnsidered WET r unacceptable) generate an audible alarm. The first reading breaking the alarm set-pint will be signaled by fur shrt beeps in quick sequence. Subsequent readings that remain abve the set -pint will be signaled by a single shrt beep. A reading belw the threshld will cause the alarm signal t reset, such that any fllwing reading abve the threshld will be nce again signaled by fur beeps. Once ALARM is chsen, pressing the SELECT key tggles the state f the alarm feature (ON-OFF). The ON state is marked by the current alarm threshld value, while the OFF state is indicated with an OFF statement. When the alarm is ON, pressing the LEFT r RIGHT keys will change the threshld value (dwn and up, respectively). Threshld values range frm 0.05% MC t 59.5% MC (default is 8%). Select DONE t return t the Create Jb menu. Selecting DONE in the Create Jb menu returns the user t the MC READ screen. The meter is nw cnfigured with the new jb and all parameters defined in the Create Jb screen. Selecting CANCEL in the Create Jb menu returns the user t the Jb Select screen; where it has the pprtunity t re - start the jb select/create prcess. Pressing CANCEL in the Jb Select screen brings the user back t MC READ. The meter maintains the cnfiguratin it had befre the JOB ptin was selected. 11
USE OF THE VARIOUS SCALES TESTING PAPER, PAPER CORES, AND CORRUGATED PRODUCTS Set the meter scale fr PAPER. Check that the cntact pins are firmly hand tightened. Push the cntact pins int the paper prduct t their full penetratin if pssible. Press the SELECT buttn t read %MC when in TRIGGER mde. In CONTINUOUS mde, press SELECT t start readings and press SELECT again t stre a reading. Since the readings are the result f an average calibratin, if a high degree f accuracy is required, the meter shuld be checked n the specific material and crrectins determined by the user. Meter readings indicate misture cntent at rm temperature f 21ºC - 32ºC. Meter readings will be affected by lwer r higher temperatures. Lwer temperatures cause readings t be lwer; higher temperatures cause readings t be higher than the actual MC. The meter tends t read the highest misture cntent that is in cntact with bth pins. If thick samples are nt well equalized, it may be necessary t make tests at different depths t determine the degree f unifrmity f misture distributin in the sample. If the meter is used n stck s thin that the full length f the pins is nt entirely embedded in the thickness f the sample, the readings tend t indicate a lwer than actual MC. This can be vercme by testing mre than ne sample in stacks. USING THE RELATIVE SCALE This scale is used t test the misture cntent f hygrscpic materials fr which a calibratin is nt available. Depending n the material, a special applicatin external electrde, instead f the integral cntact pins may be required. Increasing readings n the reference scale indicate higher levels f misture cntent. These readings can be translated int percent misture cntent nce a calibratin has been develped. Set the meter scale t REL If necessary, attach an external electrde t the meter. Push the cntact pins int the material r apply the external electrde. Take readings as described abve. The readings may als be used fr cmparative tests, after meter readings have been related t given cnditins fr the materials invlved. When the meter is used as a gauge fr cmparative tests, readings shuld be taken n samples cnsidered t be at safe levels r in satisfactry cnditin. These readings are then used as the standard against which subsequent readings n the s ame material are evaluated. The standard fr any given material is related t safe strability r any ther prperty which is imprtant fr further prductin prcessing. 12
TESTING BALED SCRAP PAPER Set the meter scale t BALED PAPER. Attach an external electrde t the meter. Push the external electrde int the material being tested. Take readings as described abve. The level f accuracy f meter readings depends n a number f factrs: similarity between the material tested and samples n which the calibratin was made; misture distributin; and chemical applicatin r prcessing which may affect the electrical prperties f the paper prduct. The required electrde is the H-4 with a #830-series prd (25cm(10 ) r 45cm(18 )). A sharp, steel rd t pen the hle fr the prd may be helpful if the bale is very dense. A few meter readings in a limited number f specific areas f a large mass can hardly be prjected t indicate an average misture cntent f an entire bale. The readings can be very helpful in prviding an indicatin f the verall misture cnditin inside the bale and t detect areas f excessive misture. Meter readings may be used as an arbitrary guideline in determining whether r nt t accept r reject the material. Since checking the misture cnditin f bales is perfrmed when buying and selling, the specific value f the meter readings remains an element t be agreed upn between buyer and seller. Such an agreement shuld cnsider nt nly a specific range f readings, but the number and lcatin f where they are taken. The fllwing ranges can be used as a guideline and may help t interpret the readings: Readings f 8%-12%, with envirnmental humidity up t 60% RH are usually cnsidered dry. Readings frm 12%-20% with envirnmental humidity up t 95% are usually cnsidered acceptable but shuld be taken with sme reservatin. Readings f 20%-40% are cnsidered wet and unacceptable. NOTE: MC RANGE AND VALID READINGS Readings belw 5% r abve 60% are displayed as LOW r HIGH, respectively. Hwever, since the resistance f the paper als depends n the scale and temperature f the paper, the meter may nt always be able t read dwn t 5%. Fr different scale and different paper temperatures, there is a minimum %MC limit belw that the meter cannt read. All readings belw this lwest limit are displayed as LOW, and are nt stred. These readings are nt cnsidered valid readings and are nt used by the meter in any statistical calculatins. 13
APPENDING DATA TO A JOB: If the chsen jb des already exist, the user des nt have the ptin t edit the existing jb settings. An Append Data? screen appears: If YES is selected, the meter will retrieve the selected jb s settings (during this time a PROCESSING message appears) and then switch back t the Pin Mde screen with the restred settings. If NO is selected, the meter returns t the Select Jb screen. STORAGE: Data (readings) may be recalled internally fr review r MC statistical analysis and may be dwnladed t a PC fr recrd keeping r further study. MC measurements are cllected and stred in individual grups called JOBS. The user has the ptin t separate readings cllected frm varius scale f paper r entire kiln charges. MC readings can be separated by up t 98 distinct jbs (labeled 1 thrugh 98). Each stred result is accmpanied by a date and time stamp, jb identificatin, reading number, ttal number f readings in the jb, the paper scale n which the reading was taken and the measurement sample temperature, as defined by the user. There are n restrictins regarding jb-numbering sequences. The meter keeps track f existing jbs autmatically. The meter als ffers excellent flexibility in allwing the user t switch amng existing jbs, r create new nes, at randm. There are n restrictins regarding measurement strage based n jb number. Fr example, the user is free t take and stre readings pertaining t jb 3, then jb 5, back t jb 3 etc. The meter stres all readings in the rder they were taken, placing markers in memry t keep track f each stred measurement s jb and assciated infrmatin. The maximum strage capability f the meter is therefre determined by the way in which it is used. Heavy use f the meter s flexibility capabilities (i.e. measurements accmpanied by frequent jb r reading type changes), frces the meter t add additinal internal tracking infrmatin t memry recrds and thereby reduces strage capacity. Depending n meter use, up t 1,416 readings c an be stred in the RDM-3P. Varius memry usage-tracking features are present t make it easy fr the user t determine the rate at which strage space is being used up, as well as prviding infrmatin related t the amunt f strage space left. Once all available strage space has been filled, the meter will stp string readings (i.e. n verwriting ccurs) and warn the user after every measurement that the memry is full. The user has the ptin t clear the memry at any time. NOTE: Individual memry recrds cannt be deleted. Only blck memry erasure is allwed. The strage memry is nt deleted after a PC dwnlad. Delete the readings as instructed belw after a dwnlad if desired. 14
STORAGE MENU: The Strage Menu grups all meter features related t measurement strage, retrieval and manipulatin. All peratins n stred readings may nly be perfrmed n a single jb. Strage Menu entry descriptins: View Statistics: This menu ptin selects the meter s statistical analysis ptin. Selecting this ptin gives the user access t tw sets f statistical data. A screen sht example f the first set is shwn belw: The first line indicates the Misture Cntent (MC) jb being analyzed. The secnd line shws the number f readings stred in the specific jb The third line shws the Average MC value fr all stred readings in the specific jb. The furth line shws the Standard Deviatin fr the specific jb. The fifth line shws the Cefficient f Variatin fr the specific jb. Selecting DONE returns the user t the strage menu screen. Selecting MORE gives the user access t the secnd set f statistical data. NOTE: The secnd set f calculatins may require significant prcessing time, depending n the number f readings stred in the specific jb. The meter will display a screen with the wrd PROCESSING while calculatins take place. User input is ignred during this time. Cntrl is returned t the user nce the algrithm is cmplete and the secnd statistics screen is shwn, as in the example belw: 15
The first line indicates the specific MC jb. The secnd line indicates the number f readings present in the specific jb. The third line shws the 95% Cnfidence Interval fr the specific jb. This is the value (+/-) away frm the calculated average value within which 95% f the stred readings are guaranteed t exist. The furth line shws the value f the lwest MC reading stred in the specific jb. The fifth line shws the value f the highest MC reading stred in the specific jb. There are n cntrl entries present in this screen, such as MORE, CANCEL r DONE. The nly available ptin is t return t the strage menu screen, by pressing any key. Stred Readings: This menu ptin selects the measurement review feature f the meter, allwing the user access t measurements stred in memry. Only readings belnging t the selected jb will be retrieved. NOTE: Stred readings can nly be reviewed in ascending sequence (ex: reading 1, 2, 3, etc.). The meter assists mving t a set f readings later in the sequence by allwing the user t specify a start pint fr this ascending sequence, such that the readings f interest will be displayed first. The reading review prcess may be abandned at any time. Shw MC Readings: This feature selects stred MC readings fr review. Chsing this feature allws the user access t a jb verview screen. This screen always begins by displaying the current jb, whether it cntains any readings r nt. The Left and Right buttns can be used t navigate sequentially thrugh all available jb numbers (1-98) while the JOB: entry is selected. Jbs that are undefined r empty will display n readings. Use the Up r Dwn buttns t change the line selectin n the screen. An empty r undefined jb will nly have ne ther selectable ptin: CANCEL. Chsing this ptin and pressing the Select (center) buttn will bring the user back t the Strage Menu. A selected jb cntaining readings ffers tw ther selectable ptins: VIEW SET and DONE. 16
VIEW SET: This ptin allws the user t view a specific range f readings in a particular jb, as ppsed t the entire set, by prviding a cnfigurable start pint. It becmes useful when large numbers f readings are present in the meter. View Set always begins by displaying 1 TO XXX, where XXX is the maximum number f readings in the selected jb. If left unchanged, the first reading t be reviewed will be number 1. Readings may nly be reviewed in ascending sequential rder. Using the Left r Right buttns, the left-side value can be changed in increments f 10. Fr example, assume the selected jb cntains 23 readings. The View Set entry will begin by displaying 1 TO 23. Successive Right buttn presses will yield the fllwing: 11 TO 23 and 21 TO 23. At this pint, the value n the left side is within 10 readings f the value n the right side. Alternately, pressing the Left buttn causes the meter t subtract 10 frm the current left-side value. DONE: Selecting this ptin signals t the meter that the user has cmpleted the reading recall setup prcess and is ready t begin reviewing readings. NOTE: There may be a significant delay while the meter prcesses the required set f readings fr review, depending n the number f jbs present in the meter, percentage f memry space ccupied by readings, current jb size and fragmentatin. The meter will display a screen with the wrd PROCESSING. User input is ignred during this time. Cntrl is returned t the user nce the algrithm is cmplete and the Retrieved Readings screen is displayed, as shwn in the example belw: Cancel: This feature returns the meter t the Strage Menu Clear Memry: This menu ptin will erase the strage memry while keeping the default meter settings intact. This feature ffers accidental feature access prtectin thrugh the use f a subsequent memry deletin cnfirmatin screen: NOTE: Memry deletin is irreversible. 17
Restre Defaults: This menu ptin will erase the strage memry AND restre preprgrammed meter defaults. This feature ffers accidental feature access prtectin thrugh the use f a subsequent memry deletin interactive cnfirmatin screen. NOTE: Memry deletin is irreversible. Exit: This menu ptins returns the meter t Main Menu. IR LINK: This meter ptin initiates a wireless cmmunicatin sessin during which the currently stred readings will be dwnladed t a PC. Befre using this feature, the target PC must be laded with Delmhrst s Universal Applicatin Prgram and a Delmhrst Base Unit must be cnnected t an available serial prt. Nte that the Base Unit als requires pwer fr peratin, supplied by an AC adapter included in the PC/KIT. A serial cable is als prvided in the PC/KIT. Requirements: The wireless cmmunicatin technlgy emplyed in the meter requires line-f-sight access between the red side windw f the meter and the receiving windw f the Base Unit. Simply place the meter and Base Unit n a flat surface, with the red side windw f the meter facing the receiving windw f the Base Unit. Separatin requirements between the meter and Base Unit are anywhere frm 0 t 30 cm (0 t 12 ). Operatin: 1. Begin by starting the Delmhrst Universal Applicatin Prgram (duble click the applicatin icn, r chse the prgram frm the Start Menu). 2. Once the RDM 3 and Base Unit are lined up and the Base Unit is pwered (a green LED shuld be lit), select the IR Link ptin in the Main Menu. The meter will display the message Linking fr a few secnds, fllwed by Link OK when successful cmmunicatin was established with the Base Unit. The Base Unit will als indicate cmmunicatin established by turning ff the green LED and turning n a red LED. 3. Press the Manage Data buttn in the Delmhrst Universal Applicatin Prgram. The meter will display Data n the screen and the Base Unit will alternately turn n a yellw and red LED while data transfer takes place (red indicates cmmunicatin between the meter and Base Unit, while yellw indicates cmmunicatin between the Base Unit and the PC). When finished, the meter will return t the Main Menu and the Base Unit will, nce again, turn n its green LED. Fr further details n managing the meter data in the PC please refer t the HELP feature in the prgram. NOTE: The abve sequence f events in initiating cmmunicatin between the PC and the meter is nt mandatry. The Applicatin Prgram may be started first, r the IR Link may be selected first. The Manage Data buttn may als be pressed befre cmmunicatin is started between the Base 18
Unit and the meter. The meter, Base Unit and Applicatin Prgram all have ample delays built in t allw the ther link cmpnents t cme nline in any sequence. Trubleshting The I/R Link: Mst prblems tend t ccur due t the psitining f the meter relative t the Base Unit. There are a few errr messages that may appear n the meter s screen: a. Timeut: This errr message ccurs when t much time has passed bet ween data sent by the meter and the respnse that shuld have been received frm the Base Unit. Pssible causes: Meter misalignment with the Base Unit (make sure the cmmunicatin windws are facing each ther, within the distance indicated). Base Unit is nt pwered. If pwer is present, ne Base Unit LED shuld be lit. If this is nt the case, check pwer cnnectins. N cnnectin t the PC. The Base Unit must be cnnected t the PC thrugh a serial cable. Check cnnectin. b. KBD: This message ccurs when the user presses a key during cmmunicatins. The meter interprets this as a request t escape this activity and returns t the Main Menu. The Base Unit shuld return t a green LED status in a few secnds. A message shuld appear n the PC screen as well, indicating lst cmmunicatins. c. Sync: This message ccurs when data framing is lst during data transmissin. This wuld nly happen if the wireless link becmes unreliable.
