Sundance DCU , SD-880 Series, PN Features inlcude: Zne 3(1), RGBW, 4-O/Ps, Exterir Zne 2, RGB, 4-O/Ps, Tp Side and waterfeature lights Zne 1(3), RGB, 2-O/Ps, Interir, underwater lighting 3 Buttn Auxiliary cntrl panel functinality Single AC ON/OFF mde frm the main cntrl panel, t SW AC I/P Phtcell enabled Temp prbe and RF utput enabled Music feature, nt implemented Jacuzzi DCU , Jac-J300/J400 and SD-780 series, PN / The feature list includes all f the abve features with 2 changes, 2 Buttn Auxiliary cntrl panel functinality N SW AC input cntrl, cnstant 12vAC pwer nly, all peratins are handled frm the AUX panel. Sftware Features t implement and Basic Operatinal Guidelines: The riginal sftware design is based n the 2005/2006 versin f the DCU-6600 Atmel prcessr sftware applicatin. Basic peratinal features are very similar. Bryan Huff has supplied a chart fr the mdes f peratin he wuld like t see included fr bth a Jacuzzi and Sundance versin f the cde. Basic Mde changes fr the Standard 8 Mdes are listed as per Bryan Huffs Excel Spreadseet chart, which will be included later in this dcument. The 5th draft rcvd Nv 14/06, has since been implemented in the Nv 27/06 final prductin cde. There are 5 hidden mdes n bth the Jacuzzi and Sundance DCU. Standard Mdes are all available with the use f the AUX Mde buttn nly, bth versins. Hidden Mdes are available, if the lights are already ON, with a "Push and Hld" f the AUX buttn fr 3 secnds, this will get yu the first hidden mde, an additinal Mde buttn press (shrt duratin) will mve t the next hidden mde and s n. A 5th push f the Mde Btn will get back t the standard mdes f peratin at the beginning f the sequence. A standard 2 Hr timeut is n all standard and hidden mdes. (** Questin: can we make ne f the hidden mdes disregard the timeut fr shwrm peratin**)

3 New Features Cntrls added fr this DCU The Phtcell feature and Default Mde The Exterir Zne 3(1) will perate n phtcell cntrl. ON during the night, OFF during the day, Exterir Zne3(1) nly. When n phtcell is installed the exterir lights and ipod white lights will be ON all the time. If the Phtcell Pins are shrted (jumpered) the lights will never be n, always OFF **Nte: A 10 secnd delay has been implemented in v1.40 sftware (Nv27/06) as per Charlie B. and Bryans 5th draft f the requested mde. The "default" clur mde will be initiated whenever the DCU is nt in peratin, s nt turned n frm the AUX panel r the SW AC input. T set/stre the default clur mde: With the interir lighting turned OFF (all lights ff except the exterir n phtcell cntrl) Simply "Push and Hld" the Mde buttn fr 3 secnds. Upn release f the buttn, a new mde will be selected, "Push and Hld" again fr anther 3 secnds t select the next default mde. Each "Push and Hld" buttn press will cycle thrugh the STD mde list. Once a default mde is selected it will be remembered until the DCU pwer (tub pwer) is remved. Intensity f the default mde is nt cntrlled. Temperature Prbe and RF LCD Status Mnitr The DCU cntains an RF transmitter, perating at MHz, it has a peridic transmissin f temperature data fr a separate battery perated wireless LCD Status mnitr. The intentin is that the Status mnitr can sit in a cnsumer's kitchen and have relaitvely up t date infrmatin ( apprx. 15 minute intervals) n the status f the ht tub temperature in the backyard. This shuld aid in the ability t determine if a circuit breaker has ppped r a tub is shut-dwn, especially during the critical cld winter mnths, where a freeze up wuld cause majr disasters. The DCU transmits an updated temperature every 11 secnds. "Unique ID" Each DCU will have a Unique ID s it can transmit its cde and nt interfere with a neighburs LCD unit. There are 65,560 different cmbinatins (0xFFFF), with 0xDEAD being an R&D test case. "Offset" Each DCU has a transmissin delay upn startup based n the unique ID, this shuld enable tubs in the neighburhd, that start at the same time, pssibly after a pwer blackut, a chance t receive a clear transmissin and nt have 2 tubs bradcast at the same time. (16 variatins, 1 secnd each) The LCD Status mnitr will need t "Bnd" t the unique ID f it's respective DCU. This is a ne time prcedure and des nt need t be repeated fr battery changes.

4 The DCU cde must be able t be tld t send the "Bnd" cmmand, while the LCD Status mnitr is in a "listening" fr a "Bnd" cde, and cannt pickup a randm transmissin frm a different tub. T send the "Bnd" cmmand frm a DCU, it must be available during any peratin status (lights n r ff, 2 hr timeut On r ff, AC On r Off fr Sundance) "Press and Hld" the Intensity buttn fr 5-secnds (There is nly 1 n Jacuzzi s it must be that ne) The DCU will bradcast it's "Bnd" cmmand fr a perid f 4-minutes alng with it's temperature transmissin. Any LCD (with it's batteries freshly inserted within 20-minutes) listening during this prcedure, will be bnded t this DCU, if it des nt receive it's wn tranmissin first. The DCU, as lng as it is pwered, regardless f it's lighting status (ON r OFF), will send a peridic transmitin f its temperature. (apprx every 11 secnds, fr a 0.11mS 4680 baud, packet) The actual baud rate and transmissin scheme is as fllws: All packets with a 1 start bit, 0 stp bits and dd parity 11 bits/byte, 55 byte packet (1) Sync byte and type f transmissin (Bnd r Temp) (2) ID, with LSB first and inverted fr Linx mdules (1) Temp packet in degrees F nly nw, as f v1.40 (1) CHKSM Temperature Prbe Input The first specificatin fr the Temperature prbe t be used was the US Sensr Crp Prbe. Sundance Part # , nw changed t the GE versin DC95H303W, as per Tny S. The DCU is t be made t read the values f this prbe with a prvided R/T temperature curve chart. The DCU hardware is currently set t have the Resistive thermcuple t perate frm the +5v line t the IC analg input pin, with a 18K resistr used t linearalize the termcuple fr the intended range. When a thermcuple is nt installed the pin will be pulled t GND. The LCD Status Display will read "L" when n prbe is installed r the thermcuple cable is brken. Upper and Lwer Limits are currently set t 55F-115F, r 13C-46C. Abve r belw that limit will display "Hi" r "L". "Data Transmissin", (4680 Baud, 8,0,1) Data is transmitted apprx every 11 secnds. Initial data time is ffset based n the inuque ID f the DCU, s all transmissins will nt be happening at the same time after a pwer failure. Cnsists f: Sync Byte and cmmand type(1), Unique ID Wrd (2), Temp (1), CHKSM(1). "Bnd" transmisstin: (4680 Baud, 8,0,1) Sent after a 3 secnd intensity buttn push transmissin packcet is sent fr 4 minutes upn regular 11 secnd intervals Cnsists f: Sync Byte and cmmand type(1), Unique ID Wrd (2), Temp (1), CHKSM(1).

5 The Music Optin (nt peratinal fr the 2007 prductin year) The music ptin will have t have sme hardware additins (space available n the PCB already) fr a stere r mn music input. In the future this will allw the lighting t functinally "beat" with the music. Either n a simple Lw frequency beat (drums, base etc) r n a 3 frequency spectrum f highs, mediums and lws fr different clurs t different beats. 6 LCD Status Mnitr Basic Sftware Specificatin and Operatin LCD cde peratin: Batteries are inserted, waits fr a 20 minute perid fr new "Bnd" cmmand Flashes green if it already has a unique ID number in memry. Displays -- (2 dashes). Once the unit receives an update r the "Bnd" cmmand, it will display the current temperature. Wakes up listens fr signal: rcvs signal checks timing value displays temp value changes status t flash green (which is the same as previus?) if n signal is rcvd after 34 secnds, g t sleep wait fr 15 minutes, lsiten fr signal fr 34 secnds. Change status LED t flash RED if it misses 2 updates (30 minutes) Change the display t remve the temperature reading and display --, after 2 additinal lsses f signal (ttal time 1Hr) Cntinues t flash Red with n display, until a return f the signal r the battery dies. If the signal returns (ie: after pwer failure), changes status LED t flash green Displays Temp Test cnditin: A new LCD unit that is nt "Bnded" t a unique ID will always recgnize and display a temperature frm a unique ID f 0xDEAD fr test purpses.

7 LCD Status Mnitr Pint Frm Installatin and Operatin Ntes Remve unit frm packaging Remve 2 screws frm back cver Mnitr is factry set t indicate degrees in Fahrenheit, fr Celsius display, mve the small black jumper (lcated n a 3-pin header belw the battery husing) frm the left tw pins t the right tw pins. Insert 3 x "AAA" batteries (Alkaline r Lithium recmmended) Replace the cver and screws First time installing batteries: Set the Status Mnitr n r near the ht tub Within 15 minutes f installing the batteries, n the ht tub lighting cntrls, press and hld the light intensity buttn (waterfall intensity n SD 880 series) fr 10 secnds t bnd the receiver. Within 1 minute f bnding, the display will update with a temperature indicatin and the LED indicatr will start flashing green every secnds. Future battery changes simply replace ALL 3 BATTERIES and allw the unit time t receive several updates (30 minutes t 1 hur) If unit des nt appear t update prperly (after 1 Hr) Ensure the tub is pwered prperly. Mve the unit clser t the tub t ensure it receives an update. It is recmmended t wait fr 1Hr t ensure receptin f several updates. Effective range is apprx 150 ft in clear line f sight. Each bstacle (ie. wall, fence, windw, pet, family member) will decrease this range. Range can als be affected by battery cnditin. If the unit indicates 'L' with n temperature units displayed, it culd be indicating a prblem with the thermcuple cnnectin t the Lighting Cntrller. Yu may reverse the stand included n the back f the unit t make it a desk tp unit. Squeeze the arms at the tp f the stand tgether t release it frm the husing. Reverse the stand and re-install the arms, frming a tripd stand.
