5 1 ABOUT THE EZ GATEWAY EZ Gateway is a high perfrmance, cst effective Building and Industrial Autmatin multi-prtcl gateway prviding prtcl translatin between serial and Ethernet, devices and netwrks. NOTE: Fr trubleshting assistance refer t Appendix A, r any f the trubleshting appendices in the related driver supplements. Check the Sierra Mnitr website fr technical supprt resurces and dcumentatin that may be f assistance. The EZ Gateway is clud ready and cnnects with Sierra Mnitr s SMC Clud. See Sectin fr further infrmatin. 2 CERTIFICATION 2.1 BTL Mark BACnet Testing Labratry 1 The BTL Mark n EZ Gateway is a symbl that indicates that a prduct has passed a series f rigrus tests cnducted by an independent labratry which verifies that the prduct crrectly implements the BACnet features claimed in the listing. The mark is a symbl f a high-quality BACnet prduct. G t fr mre infrmatin abut the BACnet Testing Labratry. Click here fr the BACnet PIC Statement. 3 SUPPLIED EQUIPMENT EZ Gateway Preladed with the M-Bus, Mdbus and BACnet drivers. All instructin manuals, driver manuals, supprt utilities are available n the USB drive prvided in the ptinal accessry kit, r n the Sierra Mnitr website. 6 4 INSTALLING THE EZ GATEWAY 4.1 Munting The fllwing munting ptins are available: Prduct cmes with tabs fr wall r surface munt. These can be snapped ff if nt required. DIN rail munting bracket - included in the accessry kit r rdered separately (part# FS QS). DIN Rail Tab WARNING: Install nly as instructed, failure t fllw the installatin guidelines r using screws withut the DIN rail munting bracket culd result in permanent damage t the prduct. If the FieldServer is remved frm the DIN rail, use the riginal screws t reattach. Only screws supplied by SMC shuld be used in the hles fund n the back f the unit when attaching the ptinal DIN Rail bracket. USE OF ANY OTHER SCREWS MAY DAMAGE THE UNIT. 7 4.2 M-Bus Cnnectin R2 Prt The EZ Gateway M-Bus t Mdbus & BACnet is used t transfer data t and frm devices using prtcls. The M-Bus driver enables data access frm M-Bus netwrks t ther FieldServer prtcls. Mst M-Bus data-pint types are supprted, allwing cmmunicatin t almst any kind f M-Bus device in an installatin, such as utility meters, energy meters, flw meters, temperature & humidity sensrs, etc. This allws BMS systems t access an M-Bus netwrk using direct read the M-Bus pints. The EZ Gateway is intended t act as a master (t read slave devices) r a slave (t emulate ther single r multiple slave devices) t make the infrmatin available t ther prtcls. Mst M-Bus devices are nt plarity sensitive, but please verify the plarity befre cnnecting any devices. 8 4.3 R1 Prt Small DIP Switches Gently remve the FieldServer enclsure t access the small DIP switches fr the R1 Prt. Bias Resistr Switch End f Line Switch Figure 4: Bias Resistr DIP Switches & EOL If mre than ne RS-485 device is cnnected t the netwrk, then the field bias resistr switch needs t be enabled t ensure prper cmmunicatin. See Figure 4 fr the rientatin f switch psitins referenced belw. The default factry setting is OFF (switch psitin = right side) T enable biasing, turn the bias switch ON (switch psitin = left side) NOTE: Biasing nly needs t be enabled n ne device. The FieldServer has 510 hm resistrs that are used t set the biasing. If the FieldServer is the last device n the trunk, then the end f line (EOL) terminatin switch needs t be enabled. See Figure 4 fr the rientatin f switch psitins referenced belw. The default factry setting is OFF (switch psitin = right side) T enable the EOL terminatin, turn the EOL switch ON (switch psitin = left side) Page 8 f 38

9 5 OPERATION 5.1 Pwer Up the Device Apply pwer t the device. Ensure that the pwer supply used cmplies with the specificatins prvided in Appendix B.1. Ensure that the cable is grunded using the Frame GND terminal. The EZ Gateway requires a pwer supply that prvides 9-30V DC r 24V AC. 10 5.3 Cnnecting t the EZ Gateway Using the FieldServer Tlbx t Discver and Cnnect t the EZ Gateway Install the FS Tlbx frm the USB drive r dwnlad it frm the Sierra Mnitr website. Use the FS Tlbx t find the EZ Gateway and launch the Web App. NOTE: If the cnnect buttn is greyed ut, the EZ Gateway s IP Address must be set t be n the same netwrk as the PC. (Sectin 5.3.2) Using the Web App Open a web brwser and cnnect t the EZ Gateway s default IP Address. The default IP Address f the BACnet Ruter is , Subnet Mask is If the PC and the EZ Gateway are n different IP netwrks, assign a static IP Address t the PC n the X netwrk. Figure 7: EZ Gateway Landing Page Accessing SMC Clud The FieldPP tab (see Figure 7) allws users t cnnect t the SMC Clud, Sierra Mnitr s device clud slutin fr IIT. The SMC Clud enables secure remte cnnectin t field devices thrugh a FieldServer and its lcal applicatins fr cnfiguratin, management, maintenance. 11 5.4 Set the IP Address f the EZ Gateway Using the FieldServer Tlbx Applicatin t Set the IP Address Frm the FS Tlbx main page, click n the setup buttn (gear icn). Select Netwrk Settings in the Cnfigure Device windw. Mdify the IP Address (N1 IP Address field) f the EZ Gateway Ethernet prt. The fllwing fields may als be changed as needed: Netmask (N1 Netmask field), DHCP Client State (N1 DHCP Client State field), IP Gateway (Default Gateway field) and DNS 1 & 2 (Dmain Name Server fields) NOTE: If the EZ Gateway is cnnected t a ruter, the IP Gateway f the EZ Gateway shuld be set t the IP Address f the cnnected ruter. NOTE: D nt change the DHCP Server State (N1 DHCP Server State field). NOTE: If DNS settings are unknwn, set DNS1 t and DNS2 t Click Update IP Settings, then click n the Change and Restart t restart the Gateway and activate the new IP Address. NOTE: If the Web App was pen in a brwser, the brwser will need t be pinted t the new IP Address f the EZ Gateway befre the Web App will be accessible again. Page 11 f 38

12 6 CONFIGURING THE EZ GATEWAY SETTINGS Click n the Settings tab (wrench icn) t shw all three settings pages: M-Bus, BMS and Netwrk Settings. The table belw describes hw the buttns at the bttm f each page functin. Save Reset Defaults Buttn Definitin Click t save settings. Saving will require the device t be restarted. Click t clear the current settings befre saving; if settings have been saved the Reset buttn is unavailable. Click t change settings back t factry defaults. Figure 8: Settings Buttn Functins The fllwing sectins explain the setting parameters by page fr the EZ Gateway. 6.1 M-Bus Settings Enter the desired Baud Rate fr the M-Bus prt n the EZ Gateway. The fllwing baud rates are supprted fr M-Bus: 2400, 4800, 9600, 19200, Figure 9: M-Bus Settings NOTE: This Setting is als knwn as the glbal baud rate. The EZ Gateway supprts cmmunicatin between devices with different baud rates at the same time. Yu can specify a prfile baud rate when creating r editing a prfile (see Figure 22). Page 12 f 38

13 6.2 BMS Settings Select apprpriate prtcl and enter the fields fr the prtcl settings described belw as needed BACnet/IP and BACnet MS/TP Figure 10: BACnet BMS Settings Parameter Definitin All Cnnectins BACnet Netwrk The BACnet netwrk number fr the cnnectin. Legal values are Each netwrk number must be unique acrss the entire BACnet internetwrk. BACnet/IP Settings 2 IP Prt The BACnet/IP default is (0xBAC0), but ther prt numbers can may be specified. BACnet MS/TP Settings MAC Address Legal values are 0-127, must be unique n the physical netwrk. Max Master The highest MAC address t scan fr ther MS/TP master devices. The default f 127 is guaranteed t discver all ther MS/TP master devices n the netwrk. Max Inf Frames The number f transactins the BACnet Explrer may initiate while it has the MS/TP tken. Default is 50. Baud Rate The serial baud rate used n the netwrk. Figure 11: BACnet Cnnectin Parameters 2 See BBMD details in Sectin ; this includes Public IP Address and Prt. Page 13 f 38

14 Enabling BBMD and Editing the Bradcast Distributin Table Parameter Definitin BACnet/IP BBMD Settings Enable BBMD Select this checkbx t enable the Ruter t act as a BBMD. If the BBMD is being accessed acrss a NAT Ruter, then these values must be cnfigured with the public IP address and Prt by which the BBMD can be reached frm acrss the NAT Ruter. The Public IP Address and Prt wuld als be used in the Public IP Address Bradcast Distributin Table (BDT) f remte BBMD's that need t reach this BBMD acrss the NAT Ruter (see Figure 13). If n NAT Ruter is being used, these fields can be left blank. This MUST be different t the IP Prt used n the BACnet/IP Primary cnnectin. Public IP Prt Default is (0xBAC1). 15 6.2.1 Mdbus TCP/IP and Mdbus RTU Figure 14: Cnnectin Settings Parameter All Cnnectins Framing Timeut Accept Bradcast Mdbus TCP/IP Settings IP Prt Max Sessins Inactivity Timeut Multiple Server Messages Mdbus RTU Settings Parity, Data Bits, Stp Bits, and Baud Rate Definitin Sets time EZ Gateway will wait fr a message frame t cmplete n the netwrk. This is useful n busy Mdbus netwrks where unknwn messages fr ther devices may cause lnger timeuts. Legal values are millisecnds (0 means disabled). Select whether server will accept bradcast messages. The default is 502, but ther prt numbers can be specified. The maximum sessins that will be accepted by the server side. The FieldServer will clse the cnnectin pened by the client if there is n activity fr this time perid. Enable r disable the ability t parse multiple messages in a stream. Specify desired values. 16 6.3 Netwrk Settings The IP Settings fr the EZ Gateway are used by BACnet/IP and Mdbus TCP/IP. The IP Settings can be edited in the Netwrk Settings sectin as shwn. Figure 16: IP Settings Page 16 f 38

17 7 USING THE EZ GATEWAY 7.1 Find Devices Using M-Bus Explrer Page Click n the M-Bus Explrer tab n the left side f the screen t g t the M-Bus Explrer page. Figure 17: M-Bus Explrer Page T find M-Bus devices cnnected t the same subnet as the EZ Gateway, click the Discver buttn (binculars icn). This will pen the Device Discvery windw, select Secndary Address r Test Address, then fill in the desired device ID range/baud rate(s) and click Discver t start the search. 18 NOTE: The Secndary Address type shuld be used when there are multiple devices cnnected t the bus t d a wildcard search acrss the full address space. The Test Address type shuld be used when there is a single device cnnected the bus t d a fast discvery. Wait until the Device Discvery prcess is cmplete - a blue prgress bar will shw the discvery prgress and is fllwed by a green bubble stating that the discvery is cmplete. Once the discvery is finished, new M-Bus devices cnnected t the same bus shuld appear n the M-Bus Explrer page. N Prfile The EZ Gateway des nt have a prfile fr this device. Nt Laded The EZ Gateway has a saved prfile fr this device but the prfile instance is nt laded. Laded The EZ Gateway has a saved prfile fr this device and the prfile instance is laded. Data Errr Nt all data culd be retrieved fr the device. Click a device t see device details and data. 19 7.2 Create a Prfile frm a Discvered Device Click n the desired device t shw Cnfiguratin Status, Details and Data. Cmpatible Prfile Exists If True is displayed, a prfile already exists fr this M-Bus discvered device. Prfile Instance Laded If True is displayed, this prfile has been created and the prfile instance has been laded. Click the Add buttn and enter the number f Ntificatin Classes t create Fill in the fields as needed NOTE: The desired ntificatin class must be specified per pint n the data map. NOTE: The Save buttn will be disabled unless all red fields are filled in with valid values. Figure 24: New Prfile Adding Ntificatin Class Add State Table(s) if needed. Click the Add buttn and enter the name f the State Table t create a new table Click the table that was just created, then click the Add buttn in the table and enter the number f required entries (rws) fr the table NOTE: The desired ntificatin class must be specified per pint n the data map. NOTE: The Save buttn will be disabled unless all red fields are filled in with valid values. Page 21 f 38

22 Once all editing is cmplete, click the Save buttn t pen the Save Prfile windw; name the prfile and click Save again t cmplete prfile creatin. 23 7.3 Manage Prfiles Using the Device Prfiles Page Click n the Device Prfiles tab n the left side f the screen t g t the device prfiles page. Figure 27: Device Prfiles Page NOTE: If a prfile has been saved frm a discvered device using the M-Bus Explrer, the saved prfiles will appear n this page. Prfiles can be edited, deleted r exprted as needed using the buttns under the Actins heading t the right f each prfile name. Prfiles can als be imprted frm the lcal PC using the Imprt buttn Imprt Buttn T imprt prfiles frm the lcal PC, click the Imprt buttn. Select the prfile via the Imprt Prfile windw and click the Imprt buttn. Figure 28: Imprt Prfile Windw A green bubble will appear that states the prfile has been imprted sucessfully. 24 7.3.2 Edit Buttn Thrugh the Edit buttn the Prfile Settings, Data Map, Nticatin Classes and State Table can be redefined. NOTE: See Sectin 7.2 fr a walkthrugh n editing prfile infrmatin. 25 7.3.3 Delete Buttn Click the Delete buttn t remve the prfile in that rw frm the EZ Gateway. 26 7.4 Lad a Prfile Instance Using M-Bus Explrer Click the M-Bus Explrer tab. Click n a device t lad that als has a prfile saved n the EZ Gateway (the Cmpatible Prfile Exists parameter is True ). 30 7.6 EZ Gateway Diagnstics and Clud Cnnectin Cnnect the EZ Gateway t the third party device(s), and test the applicatin. Click n the Diagnstic link (fund alng the bttm f the page) t pen the FS-GUI. 31 APPENDIX A TROUBLESHOOTING Appendix A.1. Cmmunicating with the EZ Gateway ver the Netwrk Cnfirm that the netwrk cabling is crrect. Cnfirm that the cmputer netwrk card is peratinal and crrectly cnfigured. Cnfirm that there is an Ethernet adapter installed in the PC s Device Manager List, and that it is cnfigured t run the TCP/IP prtcl. Check that the IP netmask f the PC matches the EZ Gateway.
