3 1.0 INTRDUCTIN During February and March 1988, kns f inecutting fwed by k s f VLF-EM and agneteter surveys were carried ut n the Cane Lake prject. The bject f the agneteter survey was t assist in gegica apping, whie the VLF-EM survey was used t ap cnductive ithgy and structure. This wrk is an extensin f previus ice surveying carried ut n Sha Lake and Ech Bay in the winter f LCATIN, ACCESS AND GRID (Figure 1) The prperty is cated 35 ks suthwest f Kenra in the Lake f the Wds area. Access t the prperty is by Rush Bay rad then Cytie Bay rad fr Highway 17. The prperty cnsists f 2 grids, Ech Bay and Sha Lake. In tta, ks f ine were cut with picket ines estabished at 150 intervas with 25 statins. The aziuth f the Sha Lake grid is 069* and the ain Ech Bay grid is A sa extensin t the eastern end f the Ech Bay grid was estabished at PERSNNEL Linecutting and surveying were carried ut by M. The instruent easures the tta agnetic fied t an accuracy f -f-/- 0.1 nt. The tta agnetic fied easureents are diurna crrected by integrating easured synchrnized variatins f the earth's agnetic fied recrded n a base statin with the fied unit. 5.2 VLF-EM The VLF-EM syste epyed n this survey was the EM-16 unit anufactured by Genics Liited f Trnt, ntari. The survey paraeters used were as fws: Transitter : Cuter, Maine Frequency : 24. KHz Reading Interva : 25 eters Measureents : In-Phase and Quadrature cpnents in percent 6.0 DISCUSSIN F RESULTS 6.1 Ech Bay Grid The cntured agnetic data defines east-west trends parae t ca gegy and structure. The area is underain by weak t deratey agnetic ithgies indicated by a range in vaues f t nts. Magnetic reief is generay ess than 100 nt, abut an average vaue f nts. The agnetics are interpreted t indicate the area is underain by predinanty fesic ithgies. A agnetic bdy defined in the centra prtin f the grid prbaby defines the iits f the diritic unit apped n the peninsua patented cai. A ca nrth-suth striking agnetic high prbaby defines a gabbric dike. Severa cntacts and/r fauts/shears are interpreted fr the disruptins in agnetic trends r atera changes in the agnetic signatures.

A brad area f variabe, arge apitude agnetics, is defined in the suthern prtin f the Sha Lake grid. This area crrespnds with a nrth-suth trending unit f afic vcanics which has been intruded by gabbr dikes (si?). The eastern extensin f the agnetic zne ikewise aps gabbric dykes r an area f agnetite crystaizatin reated t cntact etarphis assciated with the Cane Lake stck. Structura features and/r ithgic cntacts are interpreted fr the disruptins in agnetic trends. These are nt reiaby defined since ca gegica strike is bique t the ine directin. The VLF-EM survey defines stensiby east-west cnductive trends crsscutting gegy. These anaies are thus refecting tpgraphic (creeks, akes, etc.) r structura features pssiby reated t the Crwduck Lake - Witch Bay Shear Zne. Anaies VSL-1 and VSL-2 are nrth-nrtheast trending strng cnductive features which dispay direct agnetic crreatin. Cnductr VSL-2, dried in 1968 by ypia Gd Mines, aps a pyrrhtite-chacpyrite zne within a sheared and siicified dirite unit. Cnductr VSL-1 ikey aps a siiar feature.
