g ^ft Lcatin and Access The Weseyan Lake prperty is cated within the Red * Lake Mining District, apprximatey 3 mies nrthwest f the * Sate Fas Indian Reservatin (see figure 3). The grid incudes a prtin f ake which is the suthwest sectin f Weseyan Lake, Access t the prperty during the survey perid was by fixed-wing aircraft n skis, suppied by Gd Bet Air frm * Picke Lake, ntari. Fight time frm Picke Lake t B Weseyan Lake is apprximatey 1/2 hur. A fied camp was U estabished n the shre f Weseyan Lake n grid tt at L30N/21E. The prperty was accessed frm this pint fr the entire survey perid. Gephysica Prgram This prgram, cmpeted by Exsics Expratin Limited during the mnth f January, 1989, cnsisted f a tta fied magnetic survey, eectrmagnetic (VLF) survey and induced pariatin survey. The magnetic and m e ectrmagnetic surveys were cmpeted n every ine at 50 ft intervas, whie the induced pariatin was read n every secnd ine at 50 ft intervas ver and and 100 ft intervas ver the ake prtin

m Magnetic Survey Survey Prcedures T he magnetic survey was cmpeted n mies (35.39km) f grid ines using the EDA mni Pus System. A tta f 2322 readings were recrded acrss the grid. The specificatins f the EDA mni Pus System can be fund as Appendix C f this reprt. tm This survey was dne by first reading the base ine and string this data within the unit fr the remainder f the survey. The base ine statins were estabished t assist in the cacuatins fr any diurna variatin in the tta J magnetic fied. A the nrth-suth ines were surveyed with "tie-ins" t the base ine. The unit then accunts fr any diurna change in the tta magnetic fied based n the eapsed time between "tie-ins". The diurna was nt fund t exceed pus r minus 25 gammas in three hurs. The cected data was then ptted n a base map using * a scae f I" r 200'. A base eve f gammas has been B remved frm each reading t simpify ptting. The data was then cntured at 100 gamma intervas. r epr t. The base maps are incuded in the back pcket f this - k -

Eectrmagnet i c (VLF) Survey The VLF survey was cmpeted n mies (35.39km) f grid ines using the EDA mni Pus System. A tta f 2322 readings were recrded acrss the grid. Specificatins fr this unit can be fund under Appendix C f this reprt. The survey was cmpeted ver the entire grid using the transmitter statin, Cuter Maine, at a frequency f 24.0 kh. A dip ange measurement was recrded at each statin n the grid. The data was then ptted directy nt the base map and prfied. When interpreting this data, a true cnductr axis is nted as psitive readings t negative readings when traversing suth t nrth. ne shud keep in mind, when interpreting this survey, that the VLF unit is an idea gegica t as it wi react favraby t cntact nes, fauts and shears as we as utcrp t swamp cntacts, creeks ake shres, and f curse anmaus nes. Induced Pariatin Survey Every secnd ine was read using a Time Dmain Pe-Dipe eectrde array. An 'a' spacing f 50 feet was empyed ver the and area because the verburden is reativey shaw and sme targets expected t be narrw. Because f increased verburden depths, it was fund necessary t empy an 'a' spacing f 100 feet ver the ake prtin f the grid, in rder t achieve prper bedrck resut i n

The IP invves appying vtage acrss tw eectrdes in a puse manner i.e. 2 secnds n, 2 secnds ff. A secnd "dipe" r eectrde pair, measures the residua ptentia r vtage between them after the vtage is shut ff r during the 2 secnd ff cyce. The ptentia is recrded at different times after the shut ff. If fr exampe there is suphide mineraiatin within the measured dipes they wi be paried r charges set up in the suphide partices. This pariatin gives the ne a capacitir effect, thereby bcking the current deay giving a higher chargeabiity reading. A typica signature fr many gd shwings wud be a chargeabiity high, resistivity high and magnetic w. This wud be characteristic f a mineraied, highy atered carbnitied and/r siicified ne. Hwever, this is by n means the ny gegica setting fr gd, therefre every IP prfie shud be ked at individuay and crreated with a ther gephysica-gegi ca data. The eectrde array used fr the survey was the Pe-Dipe Array. In this array ne current eectrde (Ci) is paced at infinity fr the entire survey, whie a secnd current eectrde (C2) and tw ptentia eectrdes are mved dwn the ine in unisn. In this case the 'a' spacing r distance between each dipe was fixed at 50 feet ver and and 100 feet ver ake. Fr an H - reading, the csest current and ptentia eectrdes were 50 r 100 feet

g The C2 dipe remains in the same piace whie the ptentia dipe (P1-P2) mves ahead ne 'a' spacing t read N^2. The C2 nw mves ahead ne 'a' spacing and the array is ready fr an N r 2 reading. Because f the reativey shaw verburden, ny N r -3 were read. The IP survey was carried ut using the fwing parameters: Methd: Time Dmain Eectrde Array: Pe-Dipie M ' a' Spacing: 50 and 100 feet Number f Dipes Read: N-1,2,3 Puse Duratin: 2 secnds n, 2 secnds ff Deay Time". 500 ms Integratin Time: ^20 ms Receiver: EDA IP-2 Transmitter: Scintrex IPC-7 Data Presentatin: Individua ine Pseud-sectin (in reprt) : Fitered Chargeabiity Pan Map - 7 -

g Survey Resuts The gephysica prgram cnducted n the Weseyan Lake Prperty Grid #1 was successfu in utining a number f areas f interest. Due t the cmpexity f sme f the B nes, each wi be discussed individuay and in further detai bew. Z^HUL-AL This ne is the mst dminant feature n the prperty. m I t extends frm L6E/500N t L56E/2000N and appears t B cntinue ff the prperty t the east. It's strike varies frm apprximatey 75 TN at L6E t 90 TN where it runs ff the bck t the east. Generay, it appears as a brad ne when ccuring n and, becming narrwer t the east f E, where it crsses Weseyan Lake. The IP respnse ver this ne shws it t be extremey cnductive thrughut it's strike ength. The best chargeabiity respnses ccuring ang the and prtin f this ne are rughy k ~5 t imes backgrund. These respnses ccur prirnariy ang the nrthern and suthern bundaries f the ne. Due t the cnductivity f the ne it was nt pssibe t read IP thrugh sme f the areas f this ne. Fr the sectin f the ne that crsses Weseyan Lake, the highest IP chargeabiity repnses seem t ccur ang the nrthern fank frm LfcSE t L52E

The VLF respnse ver this ne crreates very we with the IP. A VLF cnductr axis is cincidenta with the IP cnductive ne fr the prtin acrss Weseyan Lake. secnd cnductr paraes this t the nrth and has a weak m I P respnse n L36E/2000N. As mentined this ne becmes much wider n and, because f this a number f VLF cnductrs with shrt strike engths and varius directins ccur within the cnductive ne itsef. This ne shws a strng magnetic respnse thrughut mst f it's strike ength. Frm L6E t L32E, strng magnetic highs fanked csey by ws situated ang the ne's nrthern and suthern fanks may suggest areas f ateratin ang this ne's cntacts. Frm L^8E t L56E the ne is cincidenta with and fanked t the nrth by these same high w magnetics, again suggesting areas f ateratin. This feature as crreates with a cnductr shwn by a previus HLEM survey cnducted in This feature extends frm L36E/900N t L56E/1100N and appears t cntinue ff the grid t the east. The IP respnse ver this ne shws it t be very cnductive, with high chargeabi i t ies cntained within the cnductive unit itsef, frm L36E t LfcSE. Frm L52E t L56E the mst chargeabe prtin f the ne is ang it's nrthern fank, with it's strngest respnse f 8-9 times backgrund ccuring n L5-9 - A

The VI. F respnse fr this feature shws a cnductr B ang the ne's nrthern fank fr it' v s entire strike m ength. A cnductr shwn t run frm L k2e t L U6E a t 750N wud appear t mark the ne's suthern bundary. A VLF cnductr as marks the suthern bundary frm L50E/950N t L56E/850N. Magnetics fr this ne are simiar t that f ne A, im w ith csey fanking highs and ws ccuring primariy within the western prtin f the ne. These magnetics are between L36E and L kke, a ng the ne's suthern fank and again may suggest areas f ateratin. T the east, frm J L50E t L56E the magnetics are situated ang the ne's nrthern bundary and cnsist f highs fanked t the nrth by ws, again suggesting ateratin ang the ne's cntact. This cnductr is cincidenta with an HLEM cnductr cated by a survey in Zne C: B This ne runs parae t, and suth f ne B, m e xtending frm L2fcE7550N t L52E/650N. The IP shws it as a ne resuting frm the cntact between backgrund and sighty wer than backgrund resistivities. It has chargeabi i ties f 2-3 times backgrund and may cntinue ff the prperty t the east. - 10

The ne is shwn t be narrw thrughut it's strike ength, with the exceptin f L32E. n this ine the ne is shwn t be cnsideraby wider, which may be the resut f infuence frm ne B. Here nes B and C appear t mm merge with the characteristic ws f ne B disappearing. The VLF fr this ne shws a cnductr between L^2E and L^6E which ccurs ang the nrthern fank. This B respnse is cmmn with the suthern fank f ne B, again suggesting a reatinship between the tw nes. Magnetics fr this ne seem t ccur primariy ang it's nrthern bundary and cnsist f highs and ws typica U f ateratin. As with the VLF fr this area, this ne's m magnetics are cmmn t the suthern bundary f ne B, suggesting a simiarity between the tw nes. Zne D: This ne is shwn by the IP survey t be a resistivity w which strikes frm L2J/E/700S t L^E/SS and may cntinue ff the prperty t the east. T the west this feature appears t take a change in strike directin, striking frm L12E/500N t L2^E7?S and appears t be cut ff by ne A in the west. This sectin f the ne shws mm u p as being fairy wide, which is ikey due t the ne's strike directin in reatin t the ine directin. highest chargeabi i ties f 3-fc times backgrund tend t The ccur ver the mst cnductive areas f the ne.

The VLF shws a cnductr running ang the nrthern edge f the ne fr it's entire strike ength. As we frm L28E t L32E a cnductr is shwn ang the suthern * edge f the ne. These VLF respnses ikey mark the nrth and suth bundary f this feature. The magnetics tend t crreate with the VLF respnses ver this ne, ccuring primariy ang the ne's nrthern edge. The magnetics are simiar t that f the previus m nes, cnsisting f highs fanked by ws, indicating tt p ssibe areas f ateratin. The best magnetic respnses fr this ne ccur between L18E and L^2E. Again, this ne crreates with a cnductr cated by m Z ne E: a HLEM survey cnducted in This feature which strikes frm LE/100N t L16E/500S and remains pen t the west, is rughy n strike with ne D, and may pssiby be an extensin f that ne. This feature hwever, ccurs ver resistivities which are high t backgrund, rather that the characteristic ws f ne D. It cnsists f chargeabi i t ies f 3 -b t imes backgrund, thrughut mst f it's strike ength. The VLF respnse as suggest the pssibiity f a reatinship t ne D. Here a cnductr appears t branch ff frm thse n D, and strike int this ne n LfcE and L16E

There are very itte magnetics assciated with this feature with the exceptin f isated ws n L8E/100S and L2E/100N. Zne F: This ne's IP respnse is made up f chargeabiity highs f 3 ~k t imes backgrund situated ver resistivity B highs. It strikes frm L8E/900S t L20E/1050S and appears t remain pen t the east. " A VLF cnductr runs parae and t the suth f this B ne frm L8E t L16E, where it then crsses the ne and fanks it t the nrth n L20E. Magnetic ws fank the feature t the nrth n L8E and L20E, whie it is fanked t the suth by a high n L16E and B a w n L^E. These magnetics may suggest sme srt f aterat i n. Zne G: This feature strikes frm L32E300N t L52E550N and may cntinue ff the prperty t the east. It is made up f a B j resistivity high with chargeabiity highs f rughy 2 times backgrund. Magnetics reated t this ne are primariy ws with B the exceptin f a magnetic high n L^2E. The magnetics tend t ccur ang the nrthern bundary f this feature. B This may be the resut f infuence frm ne C, which csey paraes this ne t the nrth

Zne H; This feature strikes frm L36E/150N t L^SE/BL and has characteristics simiar t that f ne G. This ne as strikes int ne G t the west, suggesting the tw nes may be reated, As with ne G, there is n direct VLF respnse r B this ne, hwever a cnductr is shwn t ie between the tw nes frm L1/E/200N t L48E/200N. The ny magnetics that crreate with this ne are B Zne : tw ]ws ccur ing n L^E and L^6E. m T his ne's IP respnse shws it t be a resistivity w with chargeabiity highs f 2-3 times backgrund. It extends frmle/1sn t L8E/2100N and remains pen t the west. n L2E/2100N an anmay with the same characteristics M as this ne ccurs which may be a branch r extensin f the main ne, as shwn by the. VLF. This feature ccurs ang the western prtin f an extensive VLF cnductr striking frmle/1 SN t LME/2600N. This cnductr branches ff frm the main ne at L8E, pssiby accunting fr the IP respnse n L2B/2100N. This feature is assciated with magnetic ws ccuring n LE/2100N, L2E/2000N and L8E/2100N.

Zne J: This is an IP anmay which is shwn as a chargeabiity high f apprximatey 2 times backgrund ccuring ver B backgrund resistivities. It strikes frm L20E/2300N t B L28E/2600N. This feature des nt appear t have any crreatin with the VLF, and it's ny magnetic sugnature is a w ccuring n L22E2400N. m R ecmmendatins and Cncusins The gephysica prgram cnducted n the prperty respnded very we, and was successfu in utining a number f areas f interest, a wrthy f fw-up wrk, Sme f the areas discussed under resuts are fairy M cmpex, therefre each ne shud be ked at * individuay, and crreated with ai three f the surveys 8 cnducted. Mst f the main nes encuntered were discussed under P resuts, hwever, a number f ne ine anmaies thrughut * the prperty were nt discussed.
