When applied crrectly this system will restre the shine and brighten the riginal clr back t an almst new appearance adding 8-12 years f additinal service t the dr while prviding a very hard, super durable, chemical and slvent resistant surface that is easily cleaned and resists future chalking. It is als much mre cst effective than cnventual painting. This system invlves the prper preparatin f the dr including cleaning and remving f all chalk, dirt and ther surface cntaminates then the applicatin f the apprpriate Chem-Clear 2k Plyurethane Clear Cat. 2 Evaluate drs t determine if they are candidates fr refinishing with Chem-Clear 2k Clear Cats Chem-Clear 2K prducts shuld nly be applied t substrates that are sund and shw n signs f peeling r adhesin failure. If applied t a surface that has inter-cat adhesin issues, Chem-Clear 2 K prducts in sme cases will accelerate the peeling failure prcess because f their strng adhesive and hard-shell nature. If there are any cncerns r questins abut the surface integrity then an adhesin test shuld be perfrmed. This can help determine if the substrate adhesin is adequate fr using Chem-Clear 2 K prducts especially if questinable cats f anther prduct are n the drs. The rll up drs in questin shuld nt be rusty. If drs are crrded and rusty, yu shuld repaint with the apprpriate Dr-Guard system. Surface Preparatin. Surfaces must be clean, dry and free frm wax, grease, dust, silicne, scaling paint, il, chalk and surface xidizatin s thrughly remve all chalk, dirt, grit, and ther freign matter! NOTE- any dirt, grime r ther freign matter left n the dr will remain visible thrugh the Chem-Clear finish after the prcess is cmplete. Clean all surfaces using the fine versin f Sand & Scrub cleaning mixture per label instructins. Care shuld be taken t remve lubricant sprayed arund dr lck areas and track. Glssy r smth hard surfaces must be dulled! Use fine grit Sctch-Brite r ther abrading medium t de-glss and create a surface prfile. CAUTION d nt sand thrugh existing paint film and expse bare metal r previus cats f paint. This is almst impssible t repair and may necessitate the cmplete repainting f the dr! A cmpletely clean, and sund substrate with n dust, chalk, r ther surface cntaminates must be btained prir t applying any cating. If dust, chalk, r dirt remains, repeat the cleaning prcess Any cating failure resulting frm inadequate surface preparatin r failure t fllw manufacturer s recmmendatins and specificatins are the sle respnsibility f the cntractr t remedy. Inspectin: Inspect all drs fr damage, especially weather stripping and dr seals t identify areas where paint culd enter int the units. Masking and Prtectin: Prtect all areas nt being painted. Seal all areas arund the drs t prevent paint frm entering int units, especially at the tp f the dr. Check fr nearby cars and trucks that might be at risk fr verspray. Chem-Clear prducts have high adhesin prperties. If items are ver-sprayed, it is very difficult t remve! Envirnmental Cnditins: Dn t apply if the air, surface, r material temperature is abve 110 degrees. Avid applying in direct sunlight. Apply in the shade during warmer temperatures. Dn t apply when there is a risk f rain r freezing temperatures within 12 hurs after applicatin. Dn t apply Chem-Clear 2k prducts when relative humidity is abve 90% r will becme s within 2 hurs after applicatin. Dn t apply when the ambient r surface temperature is within 5 degrees f the dew pint. Dn t apply if the air, surface, r material temperature is belw 45 degrees r if it will becme s within 4 hurs after applicatin. When temperature is belw 60 dn t apply within 2 hurs f sunset. Chem-Clear 2k prducts will remain tacky fr 1 4 hurs depending n temperature and humidity. Avid spraying in windy cnditins t reduce the risk f cntaminates adhering t the surface. Handling: Read all label warnings and data sheets prir t handling any paint r cating! Althugh Chem-Clear 2k prducts are cnsidered envirnmentally friendly when used prperly, as with any industrial cating they cntain certain chemicals that can irritate the skin and lungs. Always wear chemical resistant glves when handling and avid cntact with the skin. Always use a prperly fitted respiratr that emplys chemical cartridges while handling, mixing, r spraying this prduct. Cnsult the specific Chem-Clear 2k prduct MSDS sheets fr further warnings and infrmatin n the chemical cmpsitin. Sprayer and Spray Equipment. Use nly airless spray equipment that has lw pressure capability, either hydraulic r have electrnic pressure cntrls. The sprayer, hses and gun must be thrughly clean and flushed with acetne r equivalent slvent. Always use a hse and gun that is dedicated fr spraying slvent based prducts, separate frm spraying water based catings. Never use a hse that has been used fr water based cating r has paint build-up in it. The strng slvents in Chem-Clear 2k prducts may disslve the build-up cntaminating the finish.

Slwly add Part B activatr int Part A while mixing and cntinue t mix a minimum 1 minute. 4. Add reducer and ther additives as required NEVER mix un-catalyzed Part A r Part B with an existing catalyzed batch! Always cmbine Part A and Part B fllwing the abve directins in a separate cntainer befre mixing with an existing batch Adjusting fr Crrect Spraying Pressure: Chem-Clear 2k prducts shuld be sprayed at the least amunt f pressure required t btain a unifrm spray pattern. T adjust t the prper pressure, using a NEW tip, back-ff the pressure knb all the way and then screw it in abut 1/3rd f the way. (Screwing in increases pressure n mst sprayers). Pint the gun at a piece f cardbard fr testing and with yur hand in mtin, pull the trigger and spray a sample area. If yu have thick lines at the edge f the spray pattern, smetimes referred t as fingers, turn pressure knb 1/8 and spray again. Repeat until they are gne. Nw yu have the prper amunt f pressure fr the material yu are spraying. (If n amunt f pressure eliminates the tails, then the tip is wrn r damaged). If yu need mre paint flw, increase the size f the tip, nt the pressure. There shuld never be a clud f spray-mist surrunding the persn spraying, a sign f t much pressure! Applicatin f Chem-Clear 2k clear cat Cnfirm the substrate is clean, free f chalk, and de-glssed per abve specificatins. Refer t chart fr apprpriate spread rate and dry film thickness fr selected Chem-Clear 2k prduct. Use a new 2-10, 3-10, r 3-12 duble rifice fine finish spray tip. Hlding the spray gun apprx. 4, and n mre than 6 frm the surface, start at the tp f the dr and spray hrizntally acrss the dr fllwing a crrugatin rib. Start yur hand in mtin first and then pull the trigger, release the trigger just befre yu reach the stpping pint f yur swing. Each pass shuld extend cmpletely frm ne side f the dr t the ther. Each rib in the rll dr requires a cmplete pass acrss the face verlapping the prir rib by 50% t btain full cverage. Imprper technique can lead t dry-spray resulting in areas that have a rugh texture, and a bltchy and incnsistent lk. Always maintain a wet edge and verlap passes by 50%. If dry spray des ccur, apply a 2nd cat. HELPFUL HINT: Keep all fluid lines, spray pump, and material ut f the sun. Cler material flws (smth s) ut n the surface better. The final finish shuld be smth and have n pinhles r stippling in the finish which may vid the warranty. Make a thrugh inspectin f all painted drs. Clsely examine under the crrugatin rails at the bttm f the drs and the tp f crrugatin rails at the upper part f the drs as these are the area s mst cmmnly prne t hlidays. Minr imperfectins can be tuched up with a high-quality brush. D nt use a rller. Larger areas will need t be re-sprayed.
