Objectives Jintly analyse the lng-term eclgical impacts f deep-sea mining and devise mnitring strategy. Ultimately, make cmmn recmmendatins t plicy-makers, industry and the ISA.

5 Pilt Actin: Eclgical aspects f deep-sea mining Activities Germany has ffered 118 days n the RV Snne fr a jint cruise in the Pacific. Scientists were tasked t draft a cruise prpsal. Researchers frm 25 institutes are jintly studying: Envirnmental status f plymetallic ndule habitats in the DISCOL Area Implicatins fr future ndule mining activities in the CCFZ Prject duratin Jan July 2018, including 3-legged cruise Budget Apprx. 9.7m (ttal funding: ~6.2m ; ship days)

Very cstly, therefre, a better integratin and cllabratin needed Aims Testing the prcess f designing a crss-brder integrated mnitring strategy. Jintly cllecting data required by Eurpean and natinal legal bligatins; Jintly cllecting data fr research purpses; Increasing the value f each Eur spent natinally n marine infrastructure and research by smart crdinatin and cllabratin; Increasing experience with jint data cllectin, strage and prcessing.
