Pin Descriptions Pins 1 to 6 - Input Modue: See the individua pin out of the input signa conditioning modue seected. Usuay Pin 1 is the Signa Input High pin and Pin 3 is the Signa Input Low pin. A caibration and scaing functions are performed on the individua input signa conditioner modue. See pages 6 and 7. Pin 9 - Hod: If this pin is eft unconnected the meter wi operate in a free running mode. When this pin is connected to the Common Pin 11, the meter dispay wi be atched. A/D conversions wi continue, but the dispay wi not be updated unti Pin 9 is disconnected from Pin 11. Pin 1 - Dispay Test: When this pin is connected to the Common Pin 11, a segments of the dispay ight up and 1888 is dispayed. This is used to detect any missing segments in the dispay. Pin 11 - Common: To Hod, Test or Dim the dispay, the re spec tive pins have to be connected to this Common Pin. Pin 1 - Dim/Bank: When this pin is connected to the Common Pin 11 the dispay is banked out. If it is connected through an externa 1KΩ pot, the dispay may be dimmed. Pin 14 & 15 - AC/DC Power Input: These pins are the power pins of the meter and they ony accept a specia poarized screw termina pug that can not be inserted into any other input socket. The standard meter has a auto sensing AC/DC power suppy that operates from VAC/95-3 VDC (PS1 Std). An optiona isoated ow votage power suppy that operates from VAC/1-7 VDC (PS) is aso avaiabe. The resuting over range Signa Span is then scaed down, by seecting the position of the SPAN RANGE Header and or the SPAN ADJUST Header, which wi reduce the input Signa Span to a percentage, that the required Digita Dispay Span can be reached by caibration with the SPAN pot. Exampe A: to 1 V to read to 18 gaons. Signa Span = 1V, Digita Dispay Span = 18 counts 1 Seect the V INPUT RANGE Header position. This wi provide a digita dispay of 18 counts with an input of ony 1.8 V which is (1.8 1)=18% of the exampes 1 V Signa Span. To scae down the Signa Span to 18% seect the % Signa Span position on the SPAN ADJUST Header (position 1) or if the modue has a SPAN RANGE Header, seect ( Range) and % Signa Span position on the SPAN ADJUST Header (position ). 3 Appy a zero input or short the input pins. The dispay wi auto zero, or if the modue has a ZERO pot, it shoud be adjusted unti the dispay reads zero. 4 Appy 1 V and adjust the SPAN pot unti the dispay reads 18. Large offset scaing and caibration of process signa inputs with modues that utiize ZERO ADJUST Headers and or ZERO SET RANGE Headers. Texmate s unique ZERO SET RANGE Header enabes the use of a simpe two step scaing and caibration procedure for those process signas that require arge offsets. This eiminates the back and forth interaction, between zero and span settings, that is often required to caibrate ess finey engineered products. The first step is to set the ZERO SET RANGE Header to the center position (No ) and scae down the Input Signa Span to a percentage that wi enabe caibration with the SPAN pot to reach the required Digita Dispay Span. The second step is to set the ZERO ADJUST and or ZERO SET RANGE Header to provide a positive or negative offset of sufficient counts that caibration with the ZERO pot wi offset the Digita Dispay Span to produce the required digita reading. Exampe B: 1 to 5 V to read 1. to 15. C. Signa Span = 4V, Digita Dispay Span = 16 counts 1 If the modue has an INPUT RANGE Header the V position shoud be seected. This wi provide a digita dispay of 16 counts for an input of 1.6 V which is (1.6 4) = 4% of the exampes 4 V signa span. To scae down the Signa Span to 4% seect the 4% Signa Span position on the SPAN ADJUST Header (position ). If the modue is a Process Input 1-5 V DC type, seect the (Hi Range) position on the SPAN RANGE Header and the 1% Signa Span position on the SPAN ADJUST Header (position 5, max increase). This wi provide a digita dispay of 16 counts for an input of 4V which is 1% of the exampes 4V Signa Span. 3 Set the ZERO SET RANGE Header to the center position (no offset). Appy 1 V and adjust the SPAN pot unti the dispay reads 4. A 4V input woud then read 16 counts. 4 Set the ZERO SET RANGE Header to the negative offset position. If the modue has a ZERO ADJUST Header seect the position that wi provide a negative offset of 5 counts. Appy 1 V and adjust the ZERO pot unti the dispay reads 1. Appy 5 V and check that the dispay reads 15. Seect decima point 1xxx x to dispay -1. to 15.. 8 Instaation Guideines Instaation 1. Insta and wire meter per oca appicabe codes/reguations, the particuar appication, and good instaation practices.. Insta meter in a ocation that does not exceed the maximum operating temperature and that provides good air circuation. 3. Separate input/output eads from power ines to protect the meter from externa noise. Input/output eads shoud be routed as far away as possibe from contactors, contro reays, transformers and other noisy components. Shieding cabes for input/output eads is recommended with shied connection to earth ground near the meter preferred. 4. A circuit breaker or disconnect switch is required to disconnect power to the meter. The breaker/switch shoud be in cose proximity to the meter and marked as the disconnecting device for the meter or meter circuit. The circuit breaker or wa switch must be rated for the appied votage (e.g., 1VAC or 4VAC) and current appropriate for the eectrica appication (e.g., 15A or A).! 5.
