T prmte the publicatin The link t the nline versin will be published n the TgetherfrVanier website; Prperty managers in Vanier will receive cpies; The Cuncillr s ffice will include an ad in their regular messaging t new prperty wners in Vanier, alerting them t a Welcme t Vanier package prepared by the Vanier Cmmunity Assciatin and available fr pickup at the CSCV. This package will include the bklet. Multifaith husing wuld like t include the bklet in their welcme package. 1

2 Tgether fr Vanier Website Jean-Michel Russeau presented the updates t infrmatin and layut n the Tgether fr Vanier website. A discussin regarding the use f the nline calendar resulted in the suggestin that either T4V partners have access t the calendar r that their wn Ggle calendars be merged with the T4V calendar. The discussin identified a cmmn desire fr a centralized calendar fr Vanier activities. Pst-incident Prtcl Training The cre participants fr implementing pst-incident prtcls are: Office f the Cuncillr (the riginal surce f infrmatin) VCA, CPV, CSCV, Cmmunity Plice Officer A secnd wave f participants will be invlved if the incident ccurs near t them r has a particular effect n their clients. These are Schls, OCH, Waban Centre fr Abriginal Health, Multifaith Husing Initiative, BIA Bys and Girls Club The Cuncillr s ffice will draft a letter describing the aims f the prtcl and the respnsibilities f the participants in the cmmunicatin chain, s that all participants have a cmmn understanding f the prcess. The grup cnfirmed that the Cuncillr s ffice shuld be the single pint f cntact and the surce f infrmatin. Vanier th Anniversary Lucie reminded the cmmittee that 2019 is the 50 th anniversary f the City f Vanier. Partners agreed that this culd be used as a prmtinal fcus (e.g. 50 things t d r see in Vanier), as a fcus fr a medium sized initiative e.g. and update t the brchure describing the murals in Vanier, r as the inspiratin fr a gala event. Partners cntributins: The VCA will be rganizing a New Year s party t launch the 50 th anniversary f Vanier; Lucie will begin the list f 50 things t d during Vanier s 50 th ; Lauren will liaise with the BIA and Muse-parc t determine what plans they may have; Helena will negtiate t have space in Perspectives Vanier thrughut the year and encurage Perspective Vanier t prmte the anniversary. 2

3 5. Partner s reprts Cuncillr Mathieu Fleury s Office The Cuncillr nted that the Clean the Capital and the Hallwe en events had fewer numbers f vlunteers this year. Helena ffered the explanatin that cnnectins t the yuth prgrams, Fcus Ad and Franc Jeunesse (and t the vlunteers they prvided) were weakened when thse prgrams mved frm Cmmunity Develpment t Families within the CSCV. A meeting will be rganized t recnnect. Jean-Michel in his rle as liaisn t the French Public Schl Bard has been meeting with rganizatins in the cmmunity t prmte vlunteer prjects fr students. He will prvide input int hw Vanier prjects can build up the numbers f vlunteers. Until July 27 th, Cuncillr Mathieu Fleury s Office will be able t spnsr and supprt Mvies in the Park. After the writ is drpped n July 27 th, the ffice will supprt, but the cuncilr will nt be named in the prmtinal material. CSCV: Velfest and The Happening. Velfest will be held June 2 frm 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. t celebrate and prmte safe cycling in Vanier. Everyne is welcme. The Happening, a cmmunity gathering in the parking lt f Centre Francphne, will be held n fur Wednesdays frm July 18 t August 8 frm 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Zumba, music and sprts will be available n site. Vanier Cmmunity Assciatin (VCA) Lauren Tuchant Lauren reprted n her fllw-up with Ginette Grattn. Her fcus is nw n the prject t revitalize Mntreal Rad. At a fcus grup asking what residents wanted fr Mntreal Rad, many ffered ideas. The BIA and the VCA will partner t encurage nging discussin. Ten residents participated in the VCA grup t Clean up the Capital. The VCA is wrking n these upcming initiatives. Tw r three evenings this summer fr Mvies in the Park in partnership with M. Fleury's ffice, the BIA and the CSCV. A relaunch f a Say Hi campaign (with buttns and t-shirts) t be implemented during many f their events. The celebratin fr St. Jean Baptiste, n the 23rd and 24th f June n the schl grunds f Ecle Hrizn Jeunesse. Le cmmittee francphne f the VCA will be participating in the rganizatin. An End f the Year festival the weekend befre Christmas A New Year Eve party. An educatinal sessin n Arsnists and Fire Preventin 3

4 A visining exercise, as a cmpnent f the AGM in June, t infrm the VCA s plans fr next year. A safety frum, being planned fr September. Crime Preventin Ottawa 95 peple attended a successful presentatin frm CPO s Speaker Series, entitled What Happens After Yu Call? CPO has been explring a prpsal fr a prject t cunter steretyping assciated with crime. Sme ideas frm the discussins: Prfile successful residents frm neighburhds in which residents are negatively steretyped Change the narrative in discussing crime: Facilitate discussin in such a way that might include input frm friends and families f criminals, t braden the scpe f understanding and prmte strnger slutins. Crime Preventin Vanier / PCV Lucie intrduced a new 'tips' sheet: Hw t identify and reprt a ptential Jhn. She als shared cpies f 7 ther tips sheets prepared ver the years and asked that they be shared, psted and distributed far & wide. She prvided a list f CPV activities: Presentatin f the Cmmunity Impact Statement at Jhn Schl - March 28 A presentatin befre the Plice Services Bard at the end f the mnth with representatives frm Lwertwn and Hintnburg abut their experiences with the OPS Service Initiative Implementatin Cmmunity Advisry Grup. A memrial fr Elvira Diaz-Granads will happen n Friday at 7 p.m. at Marier Park The Neighburhd Watch (NW) Prgram: A Meet & Greet with ur new CPO fficer was very well attended in April. 30+ member f Vanier's NWPrgram participated Vanier has 11 active Watches - 9 n the Nrth side f Mntréal Rd & 2 n the Suth side 2 new Watches (bth n the suth side!) are being develped Residents n Vachn have jined the Marier Nrth Watch Residents n Park have jined the Frntenac/Richelieu Watch Current cncerns include criminal activity in the Burger King parking lt + drug huse n Carilln VCA Safety Cmmittee: Last meeting had presentatins n verdse preventin & bylaw Walkabuts are starting again: 1st Saturday f the mnth, leaving a.m. Everyne welcme!!!! Lauren & Lucie will be wrking n develping an emergency plan fr Vanier in cllabratin with nearby cmmunities Participating in wrkplan activities: Welcme pkg fr new residents, bringing back the Say Hi Vanier! campaign, adpt-a-garbage can, kindness cards, and a whistle prject. 4

5 Ottawa Cmmunity Husing 300 Lacasse will be renvated. At the OCH site n Richelieu Street, 45 bachelr units will be cnverted t 15 family units. The wrk will happen in autumn. 271 Garneau received mney fr a shed and a BBQ. Vél-Vanier: Rse Anne Lenard Vel-Vanier has wn the 2018 Bruce Timmerman s Award t an rganizatin which prmtes cycling in Ottawa. The lan prgram launched n May 9 and will run until September 28. The mnthly tune-up wrkshps will be held at le Centre Francphne de Vanier, 270 Marier Ave. frm 6 p.m. 8 p.m. n May 17, June 21, July 18, Aug. 8 and Sept. 13 The prgram is lking fr vlunteer mechanics and cyclists wh wish t lead shrt evening bike rides fr Vanier residents during the summer. Vel-Vanier will be prmting cycling fr newcmers with learn t ride sessins. Ottawa Multifaith Husing: Patrick Mayangi f Multifaith Husing Initiative intrduced himself as the new representative fr Multifaith Husing. Next meeting: Sept. 17, 5 p.m. Ottawa Rm at Vanier Cmmunity Service Centre. 5
