The Sund Masking / Paging system must use ne cntrl unit fr the entire system. Multiple cntrl units are NOT acceptable. B. The Sund Masking / Paging system must cntain an integrated sund masking and paging digital signal prcessrs (DSP s) system that utilizes an pen platfrm netwrk technlgy with web appliances, brwser interfaces, infrared remte cntrls and internet access capable. C. The Sund Masking / Paging system must be capable f separately and independently cnfiguring znes fr sund masking, paging and music via the netwrk zned thrugh its singular central cntrl. D. The Sund Masking/ Paging must nly use speakers with diameters larger than 4 but nt t exceed 6-1/2 1.6 DESCRIPTION OF SYSTEM A. All masking/paging units must be UL Listed fr use in a ceiling plenum. B. The system must be manufactured in the USA. C. All equipment and assciated hardware shall be fabricated and installed in accrdance with the manufacturer's specified recmmendatins. D. All wiring fr pwer shall be minimum 16 gauge. E. All Wiring fr Audi & Data shall be CAT 5, CAT 5e r CAT 6, 4 pair, with RJ45 cnnectrs. F. Lcatin f grunding pints shall be determined carefully t insure minimizing f system hum and eliminatin f grund lps. In additin, all cnnectins f shields and cnductrs t equipment shall be in accrdance with manufacturer's instructins and best prfessinal practices. G. In pen areas and larger enclsed spaces, the verall sund level prduced shuld have spacial unifrmity f n mre than ±½ db between any tw sund generating units.

The sund generating units must have an adjustable sund spectrum shaping cntrl in rder t meet the varying spectral requirements f drywall ceilings; varius types f ceiling tile, air return grills and penings arund lighting fixtures, etc. The fllwing is required: The spectrum shaping ability shall be variable within the accepted backgrund sund masking range (acustical preferred curve). Ensure that facility is cnstructed accrding t plans including wall lcatins, ceiling types and plenum barriers. C. Ensure that the plenum height is apprpriate as per manufacturer s recmmendatins and as per plan. D. Ensure pwer requirements have been prvided as per plan. E. Ensure sufficient space fr centrally lcated cmpnents is available as per plan and manufacturer s specificatins. F. Ensure any third-party cmpnents required t be interfaced with the system have been prvided. G. Play Masking and Audi fr a minimum f ne hur prir t cmmissining t ensure that all amplifiers in the system are wrking prperly PERMITS A. Obtain necessary permits fr installatin wrk INSTALLATION A. Fllw all applicable cdes fr the installatin. B. Fllw manufacturer s recmmendatins regarding installatin as fund in the manufacturers Sund Masking / Paging system installatin manual. C. Ensure that supplementary materials used meet applicable safety standards. F. Muntings and Ludspeakers shall be cncealed abve the acustical ceiling. The ludspeakers shall be suspended frm the slab abve by chain. Where pssible, the bttm, f each speaker shall be lcated a minimum f 6" t 8 (150 t 200mm) abve the acustical ceiling tile. It is mst imprtant that all units hang at a unifrm height thrughut t insure a unifrmity f sund when the system is turned n. G. Wiring Methd: Install wiring in accrdance with all lcal electrical cdes. Cnceal cable in accessible ceilings, walls and flrs where pssible. H. Pulling Cable: D nt exceed manufacturers recmmended pulling tensins. Remve and discard cable where damaged during installatin and replace it with new cable. I. Ensure that plenum heights meet the minimum recmmended by the manufacturer fr the ludspeakers. B. Ensure that distance between the tp f the ludspeaker and the deck meets manufacturer s minimum specificatins. C. Ensure that ludspeakers are suspended in a level manner. D. Ensure that ludspeakers are nt bstructed as much as pssible. E. Ensure cables are prperly supprted in the ceiling. F. Ensure cables are securely terminated 3.6. CLEANING A. Ensure that empty packaging and any material waste is remved frm the site. B. Ensure the prduct is clean and presentable TESTING AND REPORTING A. At the cmpletin f installatin initial tests and adjustment are t be perfrmed in accrdance with specified spacing and rientatin, tests be cnducted in an pen area f 35 ft. x 35 ft. minimum size. Tests shall indicate that all acustical perfrmance requirements described herein are satisfied. B. Verify that masking and paging zning levels are apprpriate and as per plan. C. All testing and adjusting f the system shall be accmplished in the absence f the eventual ccupants whenever pssible. These precautins are essential t insure that the attentin f the ccupants will nt be unnecessarily drawn t the nise r t its surce. Test area fr cnsistency f masking vlume and quality.

Manufacturers Field Service: Engage a factry authrized service representative t inspect field assembled cmpnents and equipment installatin and cnnectins. Reprt results in writing. Include the fllwing. Operatinal Test: Start system t cnfirm prper peratin. Remve malfunctining units, replace with new units and retest. Make initial sund spectrum and level adjustments fr each zne. Test and adjust cntrls and safeties. Replace damaged and malfunctining cntrls and equipment. Inspectin: Verify that units and cntrls are prperly labeled and intercnnecting wires and terminals are identified. Sund Masking Pwer Level Adjustments: Adjust independently fr each space t minimum level f 47dBA, unless therwise nted n the plan, t ensure speech privacy between adjacent wrkstatins while cmplying with ther system requirements. F. The Subcntractr shall prject the cmpletin date f tests and adjustments s that he can give a minimum f ne week's ntice t the active Prject Manager. G. Measurements f system perfrmance shall be made using a calibrated ANSI precisin sund level meter set fr "slw" meter damping and A scale filtering. The measurements shall be made at nt less than twenty test psitins at 4' height abve the flr level, with gain adjusted t prvide the system design level.
