2 Detailed Prcessing in Lightrm Crp image & straighten Adjust image t maintain highlight & shadw detail. Use the histgram t make sure there is sme headrm in bth highlights & shadws. Here is the histgram f the image "as sht". We knw we're ging t punish pixels later in Phtmatix & phtshp, s limit pushing them in LR. N adjustments t "Basics" (WB, Expsure, Cntrast, Highlights, Shadws, Whites, Blacks, Clarity, Vibrance, r Saturatin) ratinale: Maintain the histgram with the headrm in Highlights & Shadws fr nw. Detail Sharpening: Use a small amunt f "capture sharpening" Amunt 25, Radius 1.0, Detail 25, Masking 73 Adjust Masking visually using Alt key methd. Detail Nise Reductin: Luminance 25, Detail 50, Cntrast 100, Clr 25, Detail 50 (Careful nt t lse detail with the Luminance adjustment) Lens Crrectin: Enabled Camera Calibratin: Prfile Camera Faithful r ther setting that wrks best fr the image. In this case I chse Camera faithful because it had the least spreading f the histgram (prtect thse pixels fr later punishment) Exprt t Phtmatix Pr as 16 bit TIFF Prcessing in Phtmatix Pr Gal: Increase cntrast and detail in the pht, especially useful with bland grey skies. Use "Details Enhancer" methd Preset "EnhancerBW Increase "Clr Saturatin" t 50% Nte the cntrast appearing in the cluds this is what we're after Reduce "Strength" t 70 nte hw the green bridge lightness variance is reduced in a nice way Check the 8 bit histgram in Phtmatix A small amunt f Highlight clipping is OK when Phtmatix renders the image t 16 bit, it will prbably disappear. Save & re imprt t Lightrm Page 2

3 Back in Lightrm Check the rendered image Visibly OK? Histgram OK? (n blwn highlights r blacks) "Edit in" Phtshp Phtshp Prcessing FOR SPEED OF DEMO ONLY Reduce image reslutin t 50% Duplicate layer (always wrk nn destructively if yu can) Clne/Clean artifacts n the duplicated layer Check the histgram hw much headrm d we have? Layer > Smart Objects > "Cnvert t smart bject" allws nn destructive filtering Run Silver Efex Pr n the layer Find a preset yu like (In this case, "High Structure (harsh), use this as baseline Use the Zne alerts in the histgram t check fr blwn whites. Adjust "Tnality Prtectin" if needed t make sure anything in zne 10 is limited. Adjust verall Brightness t taste Use cntrl pints t enhance lcal cntrast thrugh the image as needed Add and adjust cntrl pints t water, Bridge, Sky, Land Add grain under film types: use apprx 420 grain/pixel (A little grain adds perceived sharpness/natural character t the print) Apply tning: Selenium Save back t Phtshp Page 3

4 Back in Phtshp nw Add a curves layer, darkening verall image, then apply a black mask t the layer Paint in vignette t tastefinal layer stack: Save image Return t Lightrm fr printing Back in Lightrm Use Lightrm Print. Use yur paper prfile and crrect printer settings check with paper Mfg Sharpening: Lightrm des a great jb f sharpening fr printing. Fr this image I used "HIGH" print sharpening n Glssy paper. My preferred paper is Ilfrd Gld Fiber Silk. I use an Epsn 3800 printer.
