She has been commuting to Corona every day to help her sister arrange things at home while she is hospitalized for breathing problems. I know Carol is looking forward to seeing us all at the May meeting. Look at all the beautiful work our members did and shared with us last month.

3 SEW WHAT S NEW Page 3 May 2015 Danish Puff Pastry Recipe from Terry Seaburg 1 cup flour ½ cup butter (Use real butter if possible, or use half butter and half margarine.) 1 T. cold water Mix as for piecrust. Divide in half, and then pat into 2 rectangles on an ungreased cookie sheet (12 x 3 or 10 x 4 rectangles whatever fits). Bring ½ cup butter and 1 cup water to a boil in a small pan. After boiling, remove from heat. Add 1 tsp. Almond extract. Dump 1 cup flour in all at once and stir until smooth and thick. Add 3 eggs one at a time, beating well after each. (It should be fluffy and your hand will be very tired!) Spread this mixture on the two rectangles on cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees about 60 minutes until lightly browned. When cool, frost with 1 cup powdered sugar 1 T. butter ½ tsp. Almond extract Cream to spread Sprinkle with chopped almonds. (The frosting serves as a thin glue to glue the almonds on.) I usually bake the Danish the evening before, and then frost it in the morning before taking it to a meeting. If you frost it too early, it gets a little soggy. To serve the Danish, slice diagonally. (Served at our last meeting)

So many of you are contributing a quilt top, an entire completed quilt, bibs, gently used baby clothing, binding quilts for hours and children s or baby fabric that you are clearing out. The project is a cute little snap-bag. Don't worry about finding the part that keeps the bag closed - that is a section cut from a metallic tape measure and will be provided by the guild. You may purchase them at $2 each and bring them back the following month sewn into a square. Your name goes into a drawing and the winner gets all the blocks to make into a quilt top. Meeting are held at the Scripps Ranch Library, Scripps Lake Dr., San Diego, CA :00 AM to 12:00 Noon VQ is an organization of people who like and appreciate quilting. Our membership is made up of new quilters, old quilters and people who just appreciate the fabric arts. If you are new to quilting and thought quilt guilds were only for experienced quilters, please think again. Our meetings offer an opportunity to learn from each other and to be challenged to try new things. Each meeting provides opportunities to hear from talented guests in the quilting industry and identifies ways you can support your community through the making and giving of quilts to the needy.
