1 SEW WHAT S NEW Page 1 December 2016 December 2016 It s that time of year... It certainly looks like December in my sewing room. The one comfortable chair is piled high with fabric and unfinished projects. Every other available surface is covered in gift projects in various stages of completion. Bits of thread and yarn are sprinkled around the floor like decorations on a Christmas cookie. Amid the chaos is one organized corner, where several tote bags, each with music for a different concert, are lined up next to my music stand. One of those tote bags holds a collection of holiday music duets for violin and cello, and I ll be bringing it, along with my violin and my cellist friend Carol Tolbert, to our guild holiday party! The holiday party, for those of you who haven t been before, is a lot of fun. Aside from music, there will be bargains from the boutique, some of the best potluck food in town, and lots of time to chat and catch up with your friends. I look forward to seeing you there! --Jennifer Williams, President

This year was very successful for the Village Quilters. Sales on Friday were $1466, Saturday we sold $884. and Sunday we sold $144. for total of $ Great job for everyone and many many thanks to all who contributed to the boutique and to all who volunteered to monitor at the boutique. 9 SEW WHAT S NEW Page 9 December 2016 Fabric Exchange Well ladies, as I write this, it is exactly 1 month until Christmas and Hanukah will have started the day before. The holiday season is in full swing, music is playing on the radio stations, people are putting up their lights & decorations outside -- especially fun to drive past each night, menus are being planned, cards are being written, holiday movies are on to watch, and the excitement is building! Our meeting in December will be full of food, fun and frolic! Not much to do in the way of our normal committees. Fabric exchange will not be done this month, but I'll put the color palette out so you can add items to your letter to Santa. January - black & white - New Year's formal February - red, pink & white - Valentine's Day March - what else? greens, of course -the Irish in me is in full force April - pastels of any color or print - it's Easter time May - flowers or ribbons prints - May Day Now I know some of you might be thinking "why the color/theme for these months might be after the occasion?". Pre-planning for next year's quilt tops As always, these colors and themes can be for fat quarters, 5" charm squares, or 10" layer cake squares. I must say the charm squares were a hit last month. This is still a work in progress, and suggestions are more than welcome!!! See you at our pot luck! Karen karenkluwin@msn.com

10 SEW WHAT S NEW Page 10 December 2016 Fellow quilters, Block of the Month The blocks for November were donated by Mary Lewis. Thank you Mary! Carol Schull won the blocks from October that were donated by Karen Kluwin. We will have a block of the month in December and they will be brought by Rebecca White. The following members have signed up to bring blocks for the remainder of the year: December January February March April May Rebecca White Kathy Greene Karen Kluwin still needed Suzy Marshall Sharon Ainsworth Thank you to all of you. See you at the December pot luck. I am looking forward to it! If you have any questions about block of the month please contact me.
