1 April 2015 Merrimack Valley Quilting Guild Celebrating 35 years of encouraging the art of quilting in the Merrimack Valley. MVQ was established in PR ES I D ENT S MES S AG E EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE President: Ann Hockmeyer Vice President Betty Dahlquist Secretary: Jan Taylor Treasurer AP: Elaine Rando Treasurer AR: Marianne Karp Whew! We made it through our awful winter! April is finally here and it s time to stop hibernating. We have a lot to do this month. Everyone should be getting ready for our annual quilt show. Helen and Gail have done a lot of work with their team of dedicated volunteers to make it happen. Remember that you must contribute two hours at the show as part of your membership duties and please be as generous as you can with your time and talent as it takes an army of people to put on such a big show. Our beautiful raffle quilt will be on display at MQX in Manchester this week. Please call Betty Hastings and volunteer to quilt sit or white glove. We must work four hours a day at MQX in order to have our quilt there and help is needed! Our meeting this month is going to be fun! We have some of our own members speaking about their quilt journey. I ve always loved hearing and learning from our journey quilters each year. I get to share my story and quilts with you, along with two others! Remember to bring your penny raffle basket to the meeting! See you there! Happy quilting, Ann Hockmeyer To reach any committee, please address correspondence to MVQ Guild PO Box 566 Haverhill. MA Newsletter items must be in to me by the 1st of each month: Pat.lucey@verizon.net April 16th -Lecture: Journeys Time travel with several MVQ quilters & their quilts. 2 2017 Raffle Quilt Fabric Guidelines 1 Set is equal to (3) four inch squares of fabric all cut from the same fabric. OR a larger set of up to (5) four inch squares all of the same fabric. Give us all you got! We need a variety of colors in lights, mediums and darks, quilt shop quality and perhaps newer to your stash. Clear tones, fabrics that read as one color, prints, textured solids, subtle stripes, plaids, checks, dots, geometric. Think all colors like: Turquoise, teal, seafoam and jade; lime, mint, olive, tarragon, and greens from the garden; red, burgundy, berry, pink, magenta, coral, melon, peach, tangerine, orange; daffodil, butter, honey yellow and soft gold, cool grays light and mediums; lilac, grapey purple or grayed purple, amethyst; and the blues, denim blue, navy, royal, marine and periwinkle; a few browns, chestnut, chocolate and tan. Just NO old stuff, no fabrics that are more than 50% white, huge prints which do not read as any particular color and true solids. Hope this helps. Bring to the April, May and June meetings basket at back table. This year we are featuring 9 demonstrations from some of our most talented members. You may want to plan your visit to catch one or several of them. We don't want to keep them a secret!
