During our January meeting we will learn about the quilt journeys of 3 of our members. Journey night is always a highlight for the year and I m sure you ll enjoy it. February will be our UFO night, so get ready to buy some fabulous UFO s. Please bring donations to the January meeting or call Bev Valle to make other arrangements. Our quilt show still needs some volunteers. Please think about working with some of the most dynamic and nicest ladies in our guild. You will get to know our members so much better by helping the show team. Talk to Beverly Knapp or Lin Caido if you can help. We have an incredible opportunity to become THE best fall quilt show in the area and a part of the Newburyport art community with your help. Annis Redwork Sneak peek at next June program Diana Annis, a Massachusettts quilter/teacher is coming on Thursday, June 16 th. She is going to lecture and have a trunk show that night about Redwork all about the history and how we have gone through a revival and brought it into the new modern generation. She will show us antiques, vintage and current works. Workshop : SOMETHING DIFFERENT SO MARK YOUR CALENDARS EARLY Will be held on the same day. Thursday June 16 th 1-5pm at a location TBD. She will teach the basics of hand stitching and embroidery, and tips and tricks to make your work the best it can be.

NECCO Technology Building Fast trip from the highway FYI: Quilters' Quarters in Georgetown will be going into hibernation for the months of January and February, Normally open Wednesdays through Saturdays, we will be closed but still available to quilters who need fabric, notions, threads, etc. To conserve heating costs, we will not have regular hours but will always try to accomodate friends who call and ask us to open for a visit. If we're not home, please leave your phone number and we'll get back to you as soon as we are. We have no caller id, just an ordinary answering machine, at , and we will check it every day that we are home, hibernating. Quilters' Quarters is at 59 North Street, Georgetown, MA, "Just two doors north of Perley School." We will open for springtime hours in early March, and look forward to a New Year of beautiful fabrics and wonderful quilter-friends! Moda Sampler Block Patterns remain available weekly at our blog, Sew and Know for January will be on paper piecing. Be sure to come early to the meeting to see one of the two demos being done at 6:15 or 6:30

4 This year instead of making a quilt block for our Guild President Ann Hockmeyer has asked the members to help her with the final requirement to enter the Certified Judge Program. That requirement is to judge a show that has a minimum of 35 quilts. If you d like to help here s what you have to do Theme Favorite Holiday (must be stated on label). Size The sum of the sides cannot exceed 100 inches. Construction 3 Layers (top, batting, back) no false backs. Label Required on back but securely covered with fabric or masking tape. Deadline May 17, The quilts will be displayed at the June meeting (with ribbons) and again at the Guild s Quilt Show in September 30 th & October 1 st Please see Jane Hamel at Guild to sign up or if you have any questions. For this year s Comfort Quilt Project I ve chosen Quilts for Kids. These quilts are given to children in need especially those with cancer and other life threatening illnesses. The quilts that our Guild makes will be going to local New Hampshire hospitals. If you d like more information about Quilt for Kids or to download free patterns you can go to their website or you can contact me or janehamel@yahoo.com. When making your quilts the size should be around 34 X 40 (or a little larger), low loft batting, no mono-filament thread, make sure all pins have been removed and PLEASE wash and dry the quilt before you turn it in. UFO AUCTION UFO Silent Auction February 18, Plan ahead to drop off your treasures by bringing them to January 21st meetings at NECCO. Bev will park her green van close to the front door of the building and be there to accept items between 6:00 PM and 6:50 PM each meeting. It will save a lot of steps! If you have a ton of stuff, I would prefer to receive that closer to February 12 at my home, or arrangements can be made. In that case, please contact Bev Valle. No items will be accepted at the February meeting. Anyone who is available to help sort items, the date is set for Tuesday, February 16, 10 AM at the Trinitarian Congregational Church, 72 Elm Street, North Andover, MA. Let Bev know if you can help!!! 5 September 30, October 1st 2016 Theme: AUTUMN SPLENDOR Location: New Hope Community Church,11 Hale Street, Newburyport Raffle Quilt will be drawn at the show. Two challenges: *President s details in the newsletter. * Quilt Show Challenge Have you started thinking about what you want to do for the quilt show challenge yet? Maybe you have fall fabrics out that your basket could be full of fruits and veggies, or maybe your holiday fabrics are near where your basket could be filled with poinsettia s, holiday ornaments, pine cones,.just what will your MVQ basket be filled with? Remember each quilt must have at least ONE basket block in it and be no more than 30 inches on any side. A Tisket, A Tasket, What Is In Your MVQ Basket??? Next year's quilt show will be held at the Hope Community church in Newburyport, MA on September 30 and October 1st, with setup day September 29th. We need three Chairs - one for the Kitchen,one for Vendors and one for Check-in. Please consider helping us with this event as you go about the hustle and bustle of the upcoming holidays. Please check the newsletter for the form and rate page, complete the application, be sure to add your check for the full amount (made to MVQ) and bring them to the sign-up table before the meeting begins or at break. You can also mail your application and check to Sue Molin. And then we apply for good weather. The dates are after Easter, a relaxed time to complete your charity quilts, or work on your show entry! When it expired they contacted us and wanted a new card number which we do not have. I decided to directly pay 6 months. It will be due again by May 30, 2016.

9 Merrimack Valley Quilters General Meeting December 3, 2015 First meeting at our new location, Northern Essex Community College, Technology Center. Tonight s meeting, Christmas Party Potluck Supper Fun and games! 63 members present, 2 guests. Welcome new member, Marilou! Meeting called to order at 7:05 PM Potluck Supper, enjoyed by all! Tables called up by number, found under the centerpieces on each table. 8:00 Business Meeting President Ann Hockmeyer Ann wanted to thank Gail Wozniak and Lyn Grenier for their work in securing our new meeting place at Northern Essex Comm. Col. UFO Auction Bev Valle Thanks for dropping off items in the dark green van in the handicapped parking area in front of the Technology Building, before coming into the meeting. The van will be in the same place for the January meeting, 6:00 to 6:50 PM. Stop by, drop off your donations, and then park. Quilt Show Lin Caiado The committee is still looking for help in these areas, Kitchen Chair and Vendor Chair. The Challenge quilts will have the theme, A Tisket, a Tasket, what s in your MVQ Basket? More information to follow. Comfort Quilts Jane Hamel This year s recipients will be Quilts for Kids. Size 36 X 42, due by the June meeting. New member Quilting Group had a change in date from Wednesday to Thursday this week at Compass Point Quilts. See Liz Swan for details. Membership Raffle won by Louise Robitaille, Susan Sisson and Helen Thornton. Programs Nancy Dempsey and Diana Doucette Due to the health problems of her parents in PA, Rosemary Bray needed to step down from the Program committee this year. Thank you for all the work you started for this year. It is greatly appreciated. Nancy and Diana have stepped up to complete the year. Thanks to Nancy, Diana and Gail for putting the Christmas Party together. Mystery Quilt Deb Kelso Directions are available for the 2 part mystery quilt. They can be found on the blog, under projects, or contact Deb. Due by June. Fun and games followed the business meeting. Prizes were won by several members, and most of all, many toiletries were collected to donate to a few programs. After the meeting, a note from the blog The toiletries were divided in half. Warren and I delivered one half to Emmaus House in Haverhill and the other half to Lazarus House, Lawrence this morning. I left a slip with the MVQ mailing address at each place.
