ITRISA ffers educatin, training and cnsulting services aimed at assisting rganisatins and individuals t develp the necessary knwledge and skills t succeed in their internatinal business endeavurs. Fr mre than 10 years, Ali managed ITRISA s business relatinship with Nrth-West University s Schl f Ecnmics which invlved, inter alia, ITRISA licensing (via the intellectual prperty wner and licensr, Tradsa (Pty) Ltd) several subjects frm its distance learning prgramme t the University fr use as prescribed texts in the latter s B.Cm and B.Cm (Hns) degree prgrammes. The licensing agreement als made prvisin fr the university s lecturers t receive a range f teaching aids frm ITRISA, including sample assignments and examinatin papers and related memranda. In 2008, Ali was cmmissined by the university s Schl f Ecnmics t develp the study material fr a new subject, Internatinal Trade Cmmunicatin, which was incrprated as an elective int the university s 3 rd year B.Cm curriculum. In terms f ther prfessinal pursuits, Ali authred tw chapters in the textbk, Internatinal Marketing, and served as an external mderatr fr Nrth-West University s Schl f Ecnmics. Internatinally, Ali was heavily invlved in the cnceptualisatin and design f the Internatinal Accreditatin and Certificatin System perated by the Internatinal Assciatin f Trade Training Organisatins (IATTO). Deputy Executive Directr, SA Institute f Exprt, Suth African Freign Trade Organisatin (SAFTO) ( ) In 1986, Ali jined the Suth African Freign Trade Organisatin (SAFTO), a private sectr trade prmtin entity prviding infrmatin and practical assistance t exprters, imprters and service prviders t the internatinal trade cmmunity. Ali was part f the team respnsible fr establishing (under SAFTO s auspices) the SA Institute f Exprt as a vehicle fr the prvisin f prfessinal exprt educatin in Suth Africa, a hithert neglected area. As Deputy Executive Directr f the Institute, Ali had the fllwing key respnsibilities: Managing the Institute s prfessinal distance learning peratin which centred n a 3-year Diplma in Exprt Management prgramme; Authring several vlumes f curse material used in the Diplma prgramme and acting as a subject specialist and tutr in respect f such subjects; C-authring three bks, the Exprt Practice Handbk, the Exprt Marketing Handbk and the Exprt Finance Handbk, which were widely used by practising exprters as well as financial institutins and universities thrughut Suth Africa; Develping publicity material fr the Institute and verseeing the publicatin f the Institute s newsletter, Glbal Thinker; Representing the Institute at the annual cnferences f the Internatinal Assciatin f Trade Training Organisatins (IATTO); 4

5 Peridically lecturing n the Institute s Internatinal Trade Bridging Prgramme; Acting as a part-time lecturer and examiner fr Technikn SA under a cllabrative arrangement with that institutin. Training Officer, Angl American Life / Suthern Life ( ) After cmpleting a pst-graduate diplma at the University f the Witwatersrand s Graduate Schl f Business, Ali jined Angl American Life as a Prgramme Develpment Specialist and Training Officer. In this capacity, she had the fllwing key respnsibilities: Analysing the training needs f administrative (i.e. nn-sales) staff, and prpsing and implementing apprpriate training interventins t enhance bth technical and sft skills in the wrkplace; Develping trainer guides and curse material fr insurance-related and management develpment training prgrammes; Cnducting face-t-face training fr a wide spectrum f staff bth at the Jhannesburg head ffice and at selected branches in ther prvinces; Researching and dcumenting administrative systems and prcedures in peratin at the cmpany and, where necessary, prpsing imprvements in the interests f greater efficiency. When Angl American Life merged with Suthern Life in the mid-1980s, Ali relcated t Cape Twn where she was appinted t a team respnsible fr establishing a training and develpment unit at the new head ffice in Rndebsch. A majr prject in which she was invlved was the develpment and implementatin f a cmpany-wide training prgramme designed t acquaint staff with the prcedures assciated with Suthern Life s new cmputerised administratin system. Administratin Officer, Suth African Institute fr Mining and Metallurgy (SAIMM) ( ) Ali jined the Suth African Institute fr Mining and Metallurgy in 1979 after cmpleting her undergraduate studies. As an Administratin Officer reprting t the Secretary f the SAIMM, Ali had the fllwing key respnsibilities: Assisting in the editing f the jurnal f the SAIMM; Attending and taking minutes at Cuncil meetings f the Institute and cmmittee meetings f varius engineering bdies affiliated t the Institute; Perfrming administrative tasks assciated with members subscriptins; Assisting in the rganisatin f sympsia and cllquia, under the SAIMM banner, fr the mining and metallurgical industries.
