Lgistics The mvement, distributin, delivery, maintenance, repair, upgrade, and eventual recycling f gds, is a glbal enterprise that fuels the wrld ecnmy. The WF will explre hw IT can dramatically imprve the degree f synchrnizatin, speed, reliability, and efficiency in this critical industry. With Singapre as ne f the large lgistics hubs fr its regin, lgistics plays an imprtant rle. In this cntext IT is an imprtant tl fr better managing the multi-mdal assets that are needed fr imprvements in peratins and in creating benefits. Public Safety, Emergency Respnse, and Humanitarian Technlgies It is practical tday t cntemplate the deplyment f systems that help us better anticipate, amelirate, and recver frm natural r man-made disasters and accidents. The wide deplyment f IT is likely t further raise the bar in hw well we deal with disasters and incidents in the future. The necessary step is deeper deplyment f mnitring and tracking systems, and better sensr netwrks that warn f an earthquake, a tsunami, a likely vlcanic eruptin, frest fires, accidental releases f chemicals, r that allw us t frestall a bilgical epidemic. At the same time the technlgies in IT will als imprve ur ability t recver frm such incidents. The WF will fcus n hw IT can better cntribute t better utcmes frm gvernment t gvernment interactins and use f reginal capabilities, and hw IT technlgies can assist vlunteer rganizatins and gvernments t better serve the individual citizen. Industrial IT The digitizatin and autmatin f industrial enterprises prmises t create new ways in which the cycle frm cncept t gds in service prduces value. At the same time the applicatin f IT technlgies als prmises t significantly change the way we maintain gds and equipment in service and cmmensurately the use and accmpanying business mdels. The WF will explre the ways in which IT will impact Industrial rganizatins and the technlgies that are likely t drive the greatest changes. IT fr Agriculture The grwth f the Wrld Ppulatin is prjected t exceed 10 Billin peple by 2035, That cmbined with the increasing affluence f ur planet's inhabitants indicates that by 2035 the demand fr fd will rughly duble. The WF will explre hw IT technlgies can cntribute t meet the fd demand f the wrld's ppulatin thrugh imprvements in yield and efficiency. Agriculture is a vertical that has many aspects and many specialties where IT is imprtant. The aspects include the peratin f agricultural equipment; hydrlgy and irrigatin; pest and invasive species cntrl; management f facilities; and preservatin f land and sil.
