NERC CIP cmpliance receives a great amunt f attentin in mst electric utility IT and OT departments and has been the subject f many UTC presentatins. There are hwever, ther NERC reliability requirements that can affect implementatin f ICT systems. While prfessinals wh deal with the specific technlgy areas are aware f these standards, ften brader awareness f these reliability standards can be lacking, which can lead t sme unfrtunate surprises fr thse ICT prfessinals wh wrk just utside these highly-specialized areas. This presentatin will give a high-level verview f these nn-cip NERC reliability standards and their applicability t different aspects f the utility envirnment. Thrugh efficient selectin f base statin sites, sectrized antennas and prperly spaced frequency pairs a utility can cver large territries thrugh frequency reuse and antenna dwn tilt angles. In ur presentatin we will review the differences between a cnventinal system with mni-directinal antennas and the advantages f sectrized antennas with cverage distances limited by antenna pattern and dwn tilt. With prper frequency spacing a utility can als minimize selfinterference at the base statin r path versht frm distant, unrelated remte sites. We will shw examples f frequency planning, sectrized cverage and high-density remte distributin. Additinally, we will discuss systems where there are mixed channel bandwidths fr mderate speed DA and high-speed substatin SCADA in 25,50 and100 KHz wide frequency channels.
