2 Payment Infrmatin: Beginning with the April 2015 STAC, the CCBA will prvide sme mnetary relief t the clubs. The CCBA understands there is extra effrt needed t create hands frm hand recrds, and t reprt results. On a per sessin basis (nt per sectin) the CCBA ffers a $1 rebate per table fr the first 10 tables that are in play. Fr half tables rund up. Fr Example: Yu hld a 4.5 table game and cllect $36 in STAC fees ($8/Table). Yur STAC fee due is $36-$5 = $31. Yu hld a 35 table game and cllect $280 in STAC fees. Yur STAC fees due are $280-$10 = $270. Prerequisites: Hand recrds will used. Fr recmmendatins n using hand recrds see the sectin belw n "Hand Recrd Requirements". The spnsring rganizatin will have them available by the date listed in the Key Infrmatin at the beginning f this dcument. If a club wner chses nt t pre-duplicate hands, then that sessin will be placed int an individual side game, and nt cmpared with the rest f the field, and will nt participate in verall awards. Participating Club Rules: The ACBL General Cnventin Chart will be used. Cnventins and systems nt allwed by the General Cnventin Chart will nt be allwed. Nn-playing directrs are encuraged but nt required fr games with n mre than ne sectin f 17 tables r less. Nn-playing directrs are required in games larger than 17 tables r with tw r mre sectins. Clubs that start prir t nn must register as a Mrning event. Frm Nn until 4PM, must as an Afternn event, and then starting after 4PM, an Evening Game. N ne may play wh has participated in making cpies f the hands r duplicating the bards by hand. Duplicatin by machine des nt disqualify smene frm playing in the STaC. T enfrce this rule, it is mandatry that the directr put his/her full name int the ACBLscre setup fr the game. Failure t fllw all these rules may jepardize yur inclusin in the STaC and prevent yur players frm receiving silver pints. Any club within the invited unit may hld a STAC game in lieu f its regularly scheduled club game. Additinal games may be held, as nted abve. Games must have at least 3 full tables. Payment t the spnsring rganizatin must be submitted within 24 hurs f the cnclusin f the STAC. If the wner fails t meet this requirement, participatin in the next STAC culd be jepardized.

3 Scring Infrmatin: The Overall Results will be determined by the percentage game fr each pair. There will be n scring acrss the field as in previus events. Yur players will, at a minimum, receive the Master pints nted n the club s recap sheet. Please nte the REQUIRED Flights (Over 2000, 750 t 2000, and 0-750). Games that have different flights will be scred as a separate sectinally rated game. This will reduce the verall master pints yur players will win if yu chse t run different flights at yur game. Each such game will be placed int their wn sectin and reduce their chance f higher verall awards. Invitatinal games will be scred and ranked as stand-alne as sectinally rated Champinship event with ne restrictin unless these games are pened t all players and advertised as such. Limited master pint games will be scred and ranked alne unless a like limited master pint game is held at ne r mre ther STAC sites. In this case, these games will be scred tgether fr verall rankings and master pint awards. Reprting Instructins: ACBLScre must be used. When reprting results, include the SESSION number fund n the upper left crner f the first page f the Hand Recrds used t create the bards. Cpy the ACM, ACA r ACE file t a disk r flash drive and attach them t yur yur results t the DIC. (See Key Infrmatin at the beginning f this dcument.) D nt send LZH, TXT r HTML files generated by ACBLScre. The final reprting perid fr the STAC ends 12 hurs after the last event ends. Late reprts will be returned t the club, t be reprted as a regularly scheduled club sessin. The crrectin perid at each club is 24 hurs after the cmpletin f the sessin. A club must pst a cpy f the recap fr inspectin at the end f each sessin. Please address questins fr reprting t the DIC listed in the Key Infrmatin at the beginning f this dcument. Each club must reprt its results t the DIC within 24 hurs frm the end f the game. If yu have registered fr a game but d nt hld it, yu MUST ntify the ACBL STaC directr immediately. Failure t d s will delay results fr ther clubs and ptentially affect yur participatin in future STaCs. Club games nt reprted within the time limit will be scred, ranked, and issued master pints as a Sectinally rated, single sectin side game and will nt be included in the Overall Awards. Hand Recrd Requirements: Using Hand Recrds requires that hands must be pre-duplicated prir t presentatin t yur players, r duplicated at the game by the players. If pre-duplicated, the persn that duplicates the bards cannt play in the event. If duplicated by the players n the day f the event, then the persn handing ut the hand recrds t each table fr duplicatin cannt play in the event. As the event draws nearer, the hands will prvided in all frms fr the club wner -- PDF, BRI, and DUP -- frm the ACBL website. Club wners that chse nt t pre-duplicate hands will have their sessins placed int an individual side game and nt cmpared with the rest f the field. They will nt participate in verall awards. Club wners need t be very careful when duplicating bards. If mre than tw fuled bards are fund in yur sectin, then yur results will be pulled ut f the veralls and entered int a separate, Sectinally rated side game.

5 Starting the Game: Here are sme recmmendatins fr using Hand Recrds: Duplicate yur bards ahead f time, and yu can run any mvement yu wish -- Hwell r Mitchell. D nt use the special directins belw shuld yu chse t pre-duplicate yur hands prir t play. When yur players duplicate the bards, always play yur nrmal number f bards except when limited by the number f tables. If yu expect less than 5 tables yu shuld make up yur bards ahead f time s that they can play the ptimum number f hands and ppnents. If yu have yur players duplicate the hands, here are the recmmended starting prcedures. 6 Unit 123 STAC Frequently Asked Questins Last Revised: Oct 2013 Why des Unit 123 use hand recrds? Mre Units and/r Districts are mving t this frmat f play. Hand Recrds mre accurately reflect a Turnament style f play as Turnaments rarely shuffle, deal and play ther than Swiss Team events. The size f the games at the varius lcatins f the STAC can vary dramatically. Bigger fields are harder t win at cmpared t smaller fields. By having the same hands played at all the clubs, we can cmbine the results f all the clubs int ne big sectin. By prviding hands t the wners, the randmness f the shuffle is remved frm the entire event. Hw many Master Pints will I win? Just like at a turnament, yu will win the better f the Master pint awards frm either the sectin result r the verall results. They are nt additive. Yu will win at least the number f master pints listed n the recap sheet at the club. Fr example: If yu wn 1 MP fr placing 3 rd in yur strat, but was 10 th verall fr 0.5 MP, then yu will win the 1MP fr placing 3 rd (nt 1.5MPs) Will the Master Pint awards fr the player change? Yes and N. Yu will always win the number f master pints listed n the recap sheet at the club. Hwever, if yu place high in the veralls, yu are likely t win mre pints. Why is my game recrded in a side game and nt included in the verall results? A number f factrs culd place yu int a separate side game: Yur club did nt use hand recrds. Thrugh n fault f yur wn, there may have been a number f fuled bards that require the Directr in Charge t place yur sectin int its wn event. The club wner may have reprted the results t late and were nt cmbined int the Overalls. My club Shuffled, dealt and played. Des this affect my master pint winnings? I see that several clubs ran a Swiss Team event. Were my Swiss Team results cmpared t the ther clubs as well? The directr at my club was playing in the event. Is this allwed? Yes. Yur sectin will be scred separately, and have a reduced number f Master pints rewarded. Yu will still win silver pints, but at a reduced rate. Swiss Team events are each entered int their wn single sessin, Sectinally rated side game. Yu will still win silver pints, but at a reduced rate. It is allwed but certain cnditins must be met. It is discuraged, but it is nt disallwed. The directr must NOT be invlved in the duplicatin f the bards prir t play. This culd mean either at their hme prir t play, r when handing ut the single hand recrds when duplicating by the players at the club. Shuld either f these ccur, then the directr may play, but neither they nr their partner may win master pints and will be disqualified.

7 General Cnditins f Cntest and Guidelines fr Sectinal Turnaments at Clubs (StaCs) Sectinal Turnaments at Clubs (STaCs) prvide bridge players with the pprtunity t win silver masterpints at their lcal clubs. All f the ACBL s rules, regulatins, and prcedures fr running a Sectinal turnament apply t the rganizatin and management f a STaC. ACBL s current STaC guidelines and fees will apply. Spnsring rganizatins may, with ACBL apprval nly, amend these cnditins fr a specific event. Such amendments shuld appear in all printed turnament schedules and be psted prir t the start f event. The Directr in Charge (DIC) shall make the final decisin n any item in these cnditins. Furthermre, the Directr in Charge will reslve any issue nt specifically cvered. SPONSORING UNIT 1. A STaC may be scheduled fr up t seven cnsecutive days, but may include nly ne weekend: hwever, Management may grant an exceptin t the weekend requirement fr cause. A sanctin applicatin must be sent t the apprpriate District Turnament Crdinatr at least 12 mnths prir t the scheduled turnament date. The ACBL may sanctin a STaC when it receives the sanctin applicatin with fewer than 12 mnths advance ntice if there is n scheduling cnflict and the STaC can be advertised in The Bulletin calendar schedule at least ne mnth prir. 2. While nly Units may apply fr a sanctin t hld a STaC, there is n bjectin t a Unit nminating a District r Districts t cnduct the turnament. In District-wide STaCs all clubs within the District(s) must be ffered the pprtunity t participate. Participatin is at the club level when spnsred by a District. If a Unit utside f the spnsring District wants t participate, all clubs within that Unit must be invited t participate (the Unit must receive apprval frm its District crdinatr). 3. A spnsr may schedule mrning, afternn and/r evening sessins. Fr the purpse f determining in which sessin a club shuld participate use the standard club sessin designatins. The lcal spnsr must designate the sessins t be scheduled. As an example: Mrning games wuld be thse starting prir t 12:00 lcal time, afternn games start prir t 18:00 lcal time, and evening games 18:00 and later. Mrning and afternn games may nt be cmbined as day games nr may afternn and evening games be cmbined. 4. STaC sessins may be scheduled at any participating club fr any sessin that the club has a regularly sanctined game at that club. Additinal games may be held at the ptin f the sanctined club. Hwever, when a scheduling cnflict exists, preference shall be granted t the club that hlds a regularly scheduled game (within a 25 mile radius) at the time in questin. The STaC spnsr has the final decisin. 5. Each Spnsr must develp a schedule f games and Cnditins f Cntest (CC). This schedule and the CC will be psted n ACBL s web site. Open and limited Stratified Pair and Swiss team events may be scheduled. All pair events are single-sessin events. Team games shall be standalne events at the site played. 6. All masterpints awarded are silver. Overall awards are based n the ttal entry in each event except that Swiss Team verall awards are based nly n the entry at each individual site. Open Swiss Team verall awards d receive credit fr limited event tables at the same site. Open Pair events d nt receive credit fr ther limited event tables at the same site, unless they are nt cmbined with ther clubs in the main STaC. Revised 12/31/2015

Fr a STaC using hand recrds, games at sites nt using hand recrds will be entered as a side game fr ranking and masterpint awards (65% f Champinship rating). 8. Masterpint levels and strat limits will be set by the STaC spnsr. The strat levels will be the same fr all pen pair games and fr like limited pair games. Swiss team events are at club ptin. 9. The spnsr is respnsible fr ntifying all club managers t register fr the upcming STaC. An blast may be requested fr thse managers with an address n file. Snail mail ntificatin will need t nte that they must register nline and submit results by t participate. 10. The rganizatin receiving the sanctin (spnsring rganizatin SO ) is respnsible fr the cllectin f any fees due frm a participating ACBL sanctined game. Each participating club is respnsible fr submitting all fees t the spnsring rganizatin in a timely manner. The SO is als respnsible fr ensuring that all fees due the ACBL are remitted in a timely manner. Shuld a participating club we a debt t a unit, district, cnference r ACBL, the SO may ask Management fr assistance in cllectin as permitted by ACBL regulatins. PARTICIPATING CLUBS 1. Any club within the area f the participating Unit may hld a STaC game in lieu f its regularly scheduled club game. Additinal games may be held, as nted abve. 2. The ACBL General Cnventin Chart will be used unless the spnsr specifies and advertises therwise. 3. A minimum sectin size f 10 pairs is needed t be included in the Open Champinship sessin event. Sectins with fewer than 10 pairs may be reprted, cmbined, and included as a separate Champinship event. This restrictin may be mdified r waived, prir t the start f the turnament, at spnsr ptin. 4. Invitatinal (nt masterpint limited) games will be scred and ranked as stand alne Champinship events with 1 restrictin (80% sectinal rating). Invitatinal clubs will use the same limits as the pen event and will be cmbined fr verall ranking. Clubs which hld sanctined invitatinal games may nt declare such games as pen fr the turnament. 5. Limited masterpint games will be scred and ranked alne unless a like limited masterpint game is held at ne r mre ther STaC sites. In this case, these games will be scred tgether fr verall rankings and masterpint awards. Clubs which hld sanctined limited games may nt declare such games as pen fr the turnament. 6. Playing directrs may nt duplicate the bards in games using hand recrds. The club directr f such a game may play nly with the cnsent, in advance, f the DIC f the STaC. 7. The time limit is 24 hurs frm the end f its game unless the spnsr specifies an earlier time limit. In n case may this time limit be less than twelve (12) hurs frm the end f the game. At spnsr ptin, special reprting arrangements may be made fr games with fewer than 17 tables. Reprting prcedures will be psted with the spnsr s STaC Cnditins f Cntest. 10. The final reprting perid fr the STaC ends 12 hurs after the last event ends. Later reprts will be returned t the club, t be reprted as a regularly scheduled club sessin. 11. The crrectin perid at each club is the same as the reprting time limit. A club must pst a cpy f the recap fr inspectin at the end f each sessin. 12. The club manager must register fr all sessins t be held using the registratin prcess available n ACBL s web site at least tw days prir t the start date f the STaC. Late registratins are at the discretin f the DIC. 13. The club must ntify the STaC DIC f any scheduled sessin that is canceled within ne hur f the start time fr the sessin. 14. The STaC spnsr may require clubs t dwnlad hand recrd files frm ACBL s web site. 15. In rder t be eligible fr verall awards in a STaC, r any event that is scred acrss mre than ne club, the minimum number f bards played is set at 20. Directr-in-Charge 1. The DIC f a STaC must be an ACBL Turnament Directr r higher rank. 2. The DIC f a STaC, and the spnsr, will develp reprting guidelines and specific cnditins f cntest t be psted n ACBL s web site at least six weeks prir t the start f the STaC. 3. The DIC f a STaC will label hand recrds when used. 4. The DIC will rganize and prvide results t participating clubs fr each sessin after the deadline fr reprting the game results. 5. The DIC will create reprts at the end f the STaC as requested by the spnsr. 6. The DIC will prvide standard Sectinal turnament reprts. 7. In additin t the expected functins f a DIC, the DIC may be asked t perfrm a variety f additinal tasks. Typical tasks may include distributin f hand recrd printuts, preturnament advertising, r a pst-turnament bulletin. The DIC and the spnsr will determine the time and fees fr these tasks.
