20 Frequently Asked Questions When is the payment due for each camp? Payment must be received by the Community Education office one week prior to the start of your child s camp week. My child does not meet the age minimum for a particular camp. Can he or she still participate? Your child may not participate in the camp if they do not meet the minimum age. Community Education adheres to the vendor s age requirements. What happens if I am waitlisted for a program? Vendors set a maximum number of registrants. When that number is met, the class will close and a waitlist will begin to generate. When a waitlist is generated, there is no guarantee your child will get into the program. If a space becomes available, the Community Education office will contact you. You may want to choose another camp option if your child is placed on the waitlist. My child is registered for a morning camp and again for an afternoon camp. What happens between 12:00 and 1:00 each day? Be sure to send your child to camp with a nut-free lunch each day. Your child will eat his or her lunch under camp supervision then will be escorted to afternoon camp. Does camp provide transportation to and from home? Transportation is not provided for camp programs. I see pre and post care offered at a different location than my child's camp. Can he or she attend pre and post care at that location? Your child must attend pre and/or post camp care at your child s camp location. There is no transportation to and from each location. Is there a drop-in service for pre or post camp care? Pre and post camp care is offered at a weekly rate only. Drop-in s will be charged as a weekly registration. Can my child switch camps mid-week? Because your child s spot is a paid in advance, Community Education cannot switch your child from one camp to another mid-week. What if I register my child for a program and do not pay? Unless you fill out a withdrawal form and submit it to the Community Education office ONE WEEK prior to the start of your child s camp, you are responsible for payment. What should my child bring and/or wear to camp? -AM nut-free snack -PM nut-free snack -Full Day Nut free lunch -sunscreen -hat -water bottle -swim suit (ADC only) -appropriate footwear What should my child not bring to camp? Because items are easily lost or stolen, campers are encouraged to leave the following at home: -electronic hand held games -playing cards -cell phones -toys -personal computers -money -anything that can cause harm to another camper *Items brought to camp are the responsibility of the camper. Community Education is not liable for lost or stolen items. Behavioral Expectations Community Education camps create an environment in which our children are encouraged to develop an appreciation of their own rights, responsibilities and the rights of others. Site supervisors and vendors will review the rules with campers each week. Rules may vary from classroom to classroom, but the general principles are all similar. If a behavioral problem arises the following steps will be instituted: First: verbal warning Second: call to the parent Third: meeting with parent, child, and Director Fourth: recommendation for dismissal Community Education reserves the right to alter the above action steps, given the severity of behavioral issue. Medications A Prescription Form for Administration of Medication in School, signed by you and your child s physician must accompany the medication in it s original container. If there are special dosing instructions, be sure to provide those as well. The medication will be kept in a locked area of camp. Should your child go on a field trip, their medication will be kept with their program lead. Important Summer Forms See page 21 for Summer Withdrawal Form Prescription for Administration of Medication is located at under Community Education, Summer
