3 About Our Camps: Summer 2018 has so much in store! Children ages 5-13 will be able to think, learn, and create, all while having fun in our colorful learning environment that is unlike any other! Our camps are designed to be well-balanced in both STEM and the Creative Arts in order to uncover your child s potential! Minecraft Coding Robotics Camp Choices: Full-Day STEM and Art camp or Half-Day (am or pm) STEM or Art camps Camp Details: Full-Day Weekly Camps 8:30am-5:30pm - $450 (Week of Fourth of - $350) Half-Day Weekly Camps 8:30am-1:00pm or 1:00pm-5:30pm - $295 (Week of Fourth of - $240) Registration: Weekly Camps Science Art Cooking Full-day campers will experience both STEM and Art camps. Half Day campers will choose from either STEM or Art camp.
4 STEM Camp Descriptions: Week 1: Excellent JUNE 11-15: Younger groups will be introduced to the world of electrical engineering and will learn about inputs, outputs, & electricity using magnetic circuits. Older campers use microcontroller technology designed for tinkering with circuit boards while working with sensors, lights, sounds and more! Week 2: Minecraft Worlds JUNE 18-22: Minecraft at Mindworx goes to a whole new digital level this summer! Campers learn about urbanization including planning, architecture, building design, growth and sustainability. Students will become environmentally conscious as they build ecofriendly communities while learning about electricity and water supplies. Don t Miss! Week 3: Ready, Set, LEGO! JUNE 25-29: Calling all Builders & Tinkerers! This is the camp for you. Younger campers explore and discover the science behind forces & motion, wheels & axles, inclined planes, and design and technology, while older campers problem solve and explore more machines & mechanisms including pneumatics, renewable energy and more! Week 4: Let s Get Reel Movie Making JULY 2-6: Become a movie maker! Explore filmaking technology and explore stop motion animation & more. Campers will post their creations on the Mindworx YouTube channel. Week 5: Programming Party JULY 9-13: A favorite for many - we will be programming this week! Using Block-based coding software as well as the MIT App Inventor, campers create, code and connect with the digital world! We also have off-screen fun times engaging with friends in minute-towin-it games! Wear your PJ s on Friday, 13 for a Programming Pizza Party in the morning or Programming Popcorn Party in the afternoon! Week 6: Light It Up JULY 16-20: Join the FIFA craze as you design prototypes of soccer fields & other sports arenas using snap circuits and more! Design, build, and engineer with legos and add to your arenas; compete in each other s creations! Week 7: Mad Science JULY 23-27: Calling all Mad Scientists! Put on those lab coats because this week, adventure seekers will explore chemistry & physics! Lots of hands-on experiments! Campers learn the science behind making slime, bubbles, & more and explore our aeronautical worxshop as they learn about the forces of flight! Week 8: Robot Adventures JULY 30-AUGUST 3: Design, build and program with the latest LEGO WeDo Robots, LEGO Mindstorms, Ozobots, Sphero & more! Week 9: High-Tech Tinkering AUGUST 6-10: Level up and learn how to build 2-D games. Code your way through adventures in this week-long, fun programming camp!
5 Art Camp Descriptions: Week 1: Abstract Art & Artists JUNE 11-15: Art campers will depart from reality as they explore shapes, forms, colors, and textures! Get messy and achieve fun effects in art. Learn about the history of abstract art and the artists that made this style of art popular. Week 2: Beach Getaway & Oceans JUNE 18-22: Campers splash their way into fun during this beach and ocean themed art camp as they travel their way through the deep blue oceans while completing fantastic art projects. Week 3: Go, Go, 3-D Art & Sculpture JUNE 25-29: Come ready! This week, art campers will experience art in 3-D! Enjoy working with clay, plaster, and recyclables and transform your ideas into beautiful works of art! Week 4: Art-4-Reel Animation JULY 2-6: Who doesn t love Star Wars, Marvel, & Pixar? Have fun drawing, painting and learning how to draw your favorite characters and images from these popular movies! Week 5: Video Game Character Art JULY 9-13: Paint & draw and make video game art using your favorite video game characters. Use chalk, charcoal, watercolor & acrylics this week. On Friday, full-day campers get to participate in the Pajama Popcorn Party and watch Wreck-It Ralph! Week 6: Color Me Crazy JULY 16-20: Explore the Science of Art and explore Color Mixing and Ancient Art Techniques like Suminagashi & more! Week 7: Modern Pop Art JULY 23-27: The fizz, boom, and pop carries on over from STEM camp this week, as Art campers learn about the genre of Modern Pop Art.
