It is getting harder and harder to prevent these bugs! Did you know that something as simple as washing your hands or using a disinfectant anti-bacterial hand gel can keep you safe? Come and join us to learn how to make and take home your own anti-bacterial hand gel and learn about all types of bacteria; the good, the bad and the REALLY ugly! 5 "A Journey through Space" - Robert Hill This journey will take us on a fantastic trip through space and time. On our way, we will visit a space station and see how astronauts live in space, go to Mars and go back in time to see our Sun and the planets being formed. We will learn about our Solar System and find out just how big outer space really is. We will discover what a light year means and find lots of exciting objects throughout the universe. So, get ready to launch and join us for a 3D voyage through the universe! Date : Friday 18th November Start Times : 10am Location : UL Analog Devices Building Target Audience: Primary level "A Celestial Journey" - Robert Hill We will then be transported back in time to see the beginning of the Solar System and witness our star, The Sun burst into life. Along the way we will see what resides at the very edges of the Solar System and how we as a species explore our place in space. As part of our Solar System voyage we will see how our knowledge of Planet Mars has grown and take a flight over the surface of the Red Planet using our latest knowledge and images as a guide for discovery. The presentation will use the latest in 3D technology and visualisation and will be a fantastic voyage through the cosmos! Date : Friday 18th November Start Times : 11.30am Location : UL Analog Devices Building Target Audience: Second Level "Cell Explorers : Fantastic DNA Primary School Workshops" Fantastic DNA is a hands-on science session designed for primary school students to practice science and see where it fits into their own lives Date : Friday 18th November Start Times : 9.30am, 11.00am, 12.30pm Location : EG0-10, UL Target Audience: Primary level "Head games: Fun Experiments about the Mind." A number of different fun experiments and activities will be set up at stations where participants will spend 15 minutes at each station. There will be ten students at each station. The workshop target audience is primary school students. Date: Friday 18th November Start Times: 9.30m; 10.30am 11.30am; 12.30am Location: Psychology Dept Target Audience: 4 th -6 th class Primary

6 "Medicines and Me"- Dr Sarah Hayes In this workshop you will become a scientist to explore medicines and how your body works! Scientists need to understand how the body works when we eat or take medicine. When you take a tablet how does it know what to do and where to act in your body? Date: Friday 18th November Start Time : 1 pm Location: MSG-024 Target Audience: Active Retirement Group, Public "Tensegrity Workshop, at Fab Lab Limerick" Fab Lab Limerick would like to invite young people to build their own "tensegrities". Tensegrities are strong and light structures made out of struts and cables arranged such that the structure retains a 3D shape without the struts touching each other.will learn about the idea of tension and compression in structures, and see how these special structures work. They will see demonstrations on the laser cutter, and assemble their very own, laser cut "tensegrities" to take home."
