1 Armour Heights Winter 2019 Lunchtime Program Descriptions Programs WILL NOT RUN the weeks of March 11 th and March 18 th to accommodate March break. This has already been factored into the duration and costs below for all programs Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday programs are 10 weeks of instruction Monday programs are 9 weeks of instruction (programs will not run Feb 18 th - Family Day) Friday programs are 8 weeks of instruction (programs will not run Jan 18 th or Feb 15 th PA Days) All program fees include a $5 FSA surcharge that will be remitted back to the FSA for use in funding FSA initiatives (supplies, programming, etc..) for all students MONDAY JANUARY 14 APRIL 1 (skip Family Day FEB 18) DI NAHLA ART MIXED MEDIA/ART DECO Cost $130 + $5FSA = $135 The students will be making at least two complete art projects using paint, decoupage, stencils, modelling paste & many more to create a 3D effect on different surfaces (wood, canvas, glass & more). Demonstration of colour mixing and use of different brushes & techniques on different surfaces, allow the students to make projects that they can proudly take home and display. Everyone is an artist, and it's usually the shyest if kids that enjoy art the most because it brings out what they want to say and what they feel. And we guide them through everything step by step! ***Please note that cheques should be made out to Nahla Ghandour. VIDEO GAME DESIGN Cost: $142 + $5 FSA fee + HST = Create It This program is designed to challenge students in a fun, non-competitive environment as they design and create their own unique video games. Throughout the program, students will learn how to create up to 5 different video games. For each game, they ll learn how to add characters, obstacles, backgrounds, and multiple skill levels. Students will also be able to fully customize their title pages, high-score boards, instruction pages and cheat codes. At the end of the program each student will receive a copy of everyone s video games to take home on a BRAND NEW USB KEY! Online Registration and payment Link: LITTLE FINGERS MUSIC Cost $180 + $5 FSA = $185 Grade 1 The Little Fingers Music Keyboard Classes are a fun introduction to keyboard for JK-G1 learners. Students learn basic keyboard skills, read notes and rhythms, complete written theory exercises and a sing a variety of songs. Keyboards are supplied and classes are designed by Little Fingers Music founder and composer Charlie Kert (Honours degree in Theory and Composition) and taught by qualified music teachers.

2 Click for: Promo Video Online Payment and registration ADVANCED DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY Cost: $ 155+$5FSA + HST = Explore It Grades 4-6 Join the world of professional photography in this hands-on program! In Advanced Photography, students will learn what is required of professional photographers, working with the world around them to develop the skills required to create a beautiful shot. Each week, students will be provided with real-life scenarios, which mimic the many areas of professional photography. At the end of the program, each student will participate in the creation, execution and completion of a final project. Get ready for your close-up! No Camera? No problem! While we encourage students to bring their own to learn on, we will have cameras available for students to use and borrow. Registration and payment link: TUESDAY JANUARY 15 APRIL 2 CRAFTY CREATORS Cost $160+$5FSA+HST = Explore It It s time to move past two dimensional creations, into the realm of Crafty Creations, where students will foster creativity through the creation of 3-dimensional art and craft projects. Using materials such as clay, textiles, paper, and wire, students will create art through sculpture, weaving, collage and other creative processes. Get engaged in a new dimension of the art world, with Crafty Creators! HANDSEWING 101: DIY FASHION MINI BACKPACK Cost $ 130 +$ 5 FSA HST = DesignHer Co Learn the whip stitch, straight stitch and decorative stitch to create a carry-all that is fun, functional and totally your style! In this NEW DHC program you will learn how to create a simple pattern and hand-sew your very own mini backpack! If you think you have what it takes to become Toronto s Next Top Bag Designer, then join us for DIY Fashion Mini Backpack. We will supply all the materials and teach you how to create all the elements that are used to sew a fashion mini backpack.

In this fun, hands-on program, you ll learn to tinker like a pro taking things apart, using a wide variety of tools and materials, and putting it all together in a variety of wondrous projects! Join our tinkering team this term where we could learn anything from the science of photography, to how circuits and LEDS work, to making our own squishy robots, electronic pop-up art or automated mini marvels! There s no limit when it comes to exploring science, technology and art with your hands so join us in our Engineering Workshop this term and learn what it means to Create! WEDNESDAY JANUARY 16 APRIL 3 PAWSITIVELY PETS Cost: $ $5 FSA +HST = Grades JK SK Grade 1 Take a walk on the wild side with the Pawsitively Pets Lunch Program! Get up close and personal with all things furry, feathered, slithery and slimy while learning all about animals, science and nature hands-on! Registration and payment link: TYPING ADVENTURES 101 Cost $160+ $5FSA+ HST = Create It Children will learn the basics of typing, developing their fine motor skills through our exciting interactive weekly adventure games and activities, including POP UP tests and challenges to win cool prizes! Based on a Mac environment children will also learn how to navigate their way through Photo Booth, Comic Life and imovie as they edit and create their own ONE-OF-A-KIND photo slide show movie. In addition to receiving a certificate of completion, children will also take home their photo slide show movie on a brand new USB key on the last day of the program. Our classes consist of gentle step-by-step, no fail instruction, creating new and exciting oven baked clay projects each week. THURSDAY JANUARY 17 APRIL 4 MINI HANDS ART Cost $199 (includes FSA fee and HST) Art Studio for Children Mini Hands - A Fine Art introduction for your little Picasso.
