2 Workshop Descriptions 1. Creating Music with GarageBand. : GarageBand This session celebrates music by teaching kids how to create exciting tunes and beats using GarageBand on ipad. First we ll cover rhythm basics, and kids will get hands-on with creating their own drum beats. Then we ll show them how to use Live Loops to make their very own rock, hip hop, or EDM track. Kids can bring their ipad or we ll provide one. Recommended for ages 6 to 12. ipad GarageBand Hip Top EDM ipad Developing your sound : Explore how to develop your sound inspired by rapper, record producer, and Wu-Tang Clan frontman RZA. We ll share how RZA developed his trademark beats that revolutionized hip-hop in the 1990s. You ll brainstorm and sketch out ideas to create your music story and sound profile. Video Storytelling with Clips : Clips Join us for a 60-minute session to explore creative expression through video with the Clips app on ipad. Based on the Everyone Can Create curriculum from Apple, we ll show you how students can create videos to enhance assignments by following basic elements of story structure. They ll express ideas with built-in stickers, emoji, music, and more. Recommended for educators of students ages ipad Clips app Apple Making Movie Together : This session is dedicated to exploring creativity through movie making for both kids and parents. We ll start with brainstorming ideas. Then kids will practice basic camera techniques and shoot footage using ipad Pro. They ll finish by creating a professional movie trailer with imovie. Kids can bring their own ipad or we ll provide one. Recommended for ages ipad Pro

3 imovie ipad Sketch, Draw, and Paint with ipad. : ipad Bring your ipad Pro and Apple Pencil and we ll practice basic techniques for sketching, drawing, and painting. We ll go step-by-step as we sketch together as a group and build our own gallery of artwork. Then you ll get time to put your new skills to work on your own project. This is all levels seasoned illustrators are welcome to partner with beginners and share techniques. ipad Pro Apple Pencil 6. Sketch Walks: Watercolor and Brush Techniques. : Join us for an engaging session on watercolor painting. Bring your ipad Pro and Apple Pencil and explore basic techniques for using various brushes, mixing and selecting color, and composing a scene. Photo Walks: Portraits and People : From selfies to photographing groups, we ll show you how to take great portraits of people with your iphone or ipad on this photo walk. We ll experiment with interesting backgrounds, work with Portrait mode and Portrait Lighting, and explore creative framing. Photo Walks: Capturing Action and Video : From the winning goal to an impromptu dance party, we ll explore inspiring ways to capture exciting moments with iphone or ipad. We ll share techniques for setting up the shot, so you don t miss a thing. Then we ll show you how to edit photos and create sharable moments with Live Photo effects and new filters. 4 9. Sphero Maze Challenge Sphero This session is designed to spark imagination and creativity through fun, hands-on projects. Kids will explore coding with Sphero robots by programming simple movements, loops, and more. Then they ll design a maze and navigate their robot through the obstacles. Kids can bring their own ipad and Sphero Sprk+ robot, or we ll provide them. Recommended for ages 6 to 12. And, Swift Playgrounds is an app for ipad designed for beginner coders ages 12+. Explore basic coding concepts and get started with writing your first line of code.
