3 PRESCHOOL CLASSES Little Music: Around the World age 2-3 (duo), 4-5 (solo) Ethos preschool program engages young children through culturally diverse musical experiences. This term will focus on the music of Latin America and will include a variety of music, rhythm and dance from that area. Students and parents get a chance to explore cultures through rhythms, songs and dances while developing their musical perception, phonological awareness, and motor skills. The duo classes require parental participation. $90/10 week term. Level 1 Saturday 10:00-11:00pm Koufman Kinder Keyboards (Piano) age 5-7 Children grades K-2nd learn to play simple songs while focusing on the basics of rhythm and note reading in a fun and supportive environment. As students progress they will work on playing with both hands together, and integrating chords into their playing while tackling more advanced songs and melodies. 5 Violin age 7-11 Students learn basic bow techniques to produce good tone, first hand position, simple melodies and scales, and how to play as a group. Students learn first by listening and imitating, with careful guidance, while also learning to read notes and basic rhythms. Levels 1 / 2 Tuesday 6:00-7:00pm Lovell SMALL ENSEMBLES Chamber Ensemble age: 10+ This ensemble class provides an opportunity for current students playing violin, viola, or cello to focus on ensemble playing and group awareness, as well as intonation, articulation and dynamics. The music will range from classical to jazz to pop. This class is for students with at least 2 years of private instruction, or equivalent experience. $90/term. Tuesday 6:30-7:30pm Gannett

6 Rock Band age Students learn to play and arrange rock songs in a group setting. Guitarists, bassists, keyboardists, drummers and singers between the ages of 10 and 18 are encouraged to join. Students must have at least one year of experience on their instrument in order to sign up for this class. Returning students/bands will be given schedule priority. New students will be integrated into open positions or formed into new groups as scheduling permits. Please contact the front office if you have any questions regarding scheduling. $90/term. INTER-GENERATIONAL ENSEMBLE African Drumming for Adults and Teens age 10-adult Students will drum in a group to learn the three primary sounds of the djembe, the words that make up the language of the djembe and dunon drums, as well as the cultural context of each. $90/ term. All levels Monday 7:00-8:00pm Koufman PRIVATE MUSIC LESSONS FOR ALL AGES Weekly private lessons are available for students on nearly every instrument/skill level and are designed to fit your schedule. Private lessons are offered year-round and can start at any time. Ethos offers private lessons in 8 lesson packages. Students are encouraged to start with 30 minute lessons. $180/8-lesson package. If you or your child are interested in learning a particular style or if you have special needs, please mention that info on your registration form. Once we receive registration and payment, we will contact you to set up your lesson time and start date.

7 INCOME-BASED RATES Ethos offers discounted rates, for students qualifying for the free lunch or reduced lunch programs at their schools. Families for whom the free/reduced lunch program is not applicable, but have a comparable income to household size ratio are also eligible for sliding scale prices. Lessons $180 $135 $90 SPRING BREAK CAMP Ethos will be offering a full day rock band and hip-hop camp during the week of March 24th-28th. The camper eligibility, format and cost will be the same as the full day summer camps that we offer. All abilities are encouraged to register. SUMMER CAMPS Camper Eligibility Ethos Music Camps are open to all students of all abilities. Age requirements vary. Please see camp listings below. Young students must have prior experience with full day school or day care. Students will be assigned to small groups according to age, ability, and instrument of choice. Camp Format Each camp runs Monday through Friday. Full-day camps run from 9:00AM- 5:00PM. Half-day camps run from 9:00AM-1:00PM. Different instruments are featured each session (see below). Each student chooses a primary instrument to focus on during the week. Students study technique, rhythm and music theory while learning performance pieces and preparing for the final recital. Instrument classes have a low student to teacher ratio (no more than 6 students per instructor). 8 AFTERNOON ACTIVITIES In addition to their regular music classes, Ethos student campers participate in daily performing arts workshops, and are treated to a number of professional concerts and presentations. In previous years camps have featured performances in various musical styles including Japanese Taiko drumming, African Drumming, Blues, Jazz, Country, Classical Chamber Music, Jamaican Reggae, Rock and Brazilian Samba. Founded in 1998 in Portland, Oregon, we are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides music lessons, multicultural performances and workshops to more than 7,000 students a year.
