1 DeKalb SIT Presentation Descriptions RED Sessions Amateur Radio Radio is a way to send information, or communications, from one place to another. Broadcasting includes both one way radio (a person hears the information but can't reply) as well as two way radio (where the same person can both receive and send messages). How to Make a Kahoot A popular school program is Kahoot. In this presentation, we will introduce the partcipants to the educational program and how to use it. Making games with ROBLOX Participants will be taught how to make games using a gaming platform called ROBLOX. Wiring Pi Come to this demonstration to see how to use your GPIO on your Raspberry Pi! We will talk about what you can do, how to code with it, and end products that will come as a result. This is geared towards people who understand basics of the Raspberry Pi. Lego EV3 Robotics Students will learn how to use Lego Mindstorm software to accomplish various tasks, such as reaching a destination following a path, displaying custom text on screen, etc. Create Green Screen Magic We will demonstrate how to take a photo using a green screen and then edit the image to add any background you want. The green screen will be setup so you can try it yourself. Let's Get Shaking We will demonstrate how earthquakes are measured by building a simple seismograph and experimenting how different vibrations are recorded.

2 Lego Mindstorm EV3 Building & Programming a Robot This presentation will walk other students through the process of building and programming a robot using Lego's Mindstorm EV3. The EV3 is the ultimate set for engineers and programmers in training. a user can create and command robots that walk, talk, think and do anything you can imagine. Raspberry Pi What Is It, And What You Can Do With It This presentation's main focus will start with the description of the raspberry pi, and the codes it runs on (e.g python, scratch, etc.). Then, I will proceed to the middle, which will take up most of the time. This is when I will actually show you things you can do with it, starting from flashing lights to controlling robots. Then, I will conclude the presentation with an overview of the whole presentation, and some main points, and then finish with telling everyone where you can buy it, and what you need to buy for specific projects. Introduction to Sphere and Learning Code (Streaming from Bloomington) Mystery Challenge During this session you will complete a MYSTERY project according to the Challenge instructions provided. Donovan will take participants through the simple steps and answer questions as they go along. Storybird Storybird is an online program for reading and writing your own stories. The site is filled with creative artwork to use for your stories. You can share, publish and comment on other s stories as well.
