1 Art and Design Long term plan : scheme 2016/17 Class 1 Term Unit Theme: Electricity Sketching and observation- pencil sketching techniques, mark making crosshatching In sketchbooks etc explore colour pattern, texture, line shape, space and form Design a product- using a range of materials creatively, research product design. Display in school and evaluate using art vocabulary. Greek pottery/ architecture. Ceramics coil pots. Surface decoration. Theme: Shipwrecked Using a variety of mediums mixed media piece Use of watercolours, acrylic, oil pastels etc. explore colour pattern, texture, line shape, space and form.seascapes and seascape artists Turner storm. Photos of boats and beach scenes visits to boat museum Newport and beaches or local seascape artist. Installation art ship wreck photos and role play. Class 2 Theme: Animals Sketches of animals, pencil skills and drawing materials chalks, oils, ink, animal motifs in art throughout history ceramics. Aboriginal, cave paintings, Matisse, Rouss, Theme: Norman Conquest Brass rubbings, visit to Brading, Carisbrooke; Bonchurch. Bayeux tapestry comic strip cartoons around the room. Research abstract Still life. Drawings from still life display. Experiment with colour ways and materials. Produce a painting on canvas or board. Plan and design their own collage using a range of materials Unit 2 Photo unit 2 Portraits Gallery studio visit Portraits project. Research portrait photography and techniques. Link with Dimbola Lodge museum for workshops and research Julia Margaret Cameron. Use photo studio for shots Identity using objects of importance. Edit images on photo draw. Class 4 KS4 WJEC Creative Pathway Entry Level Unit 1 Colour and pattern: Abstract -Drawing skills Abstract Art:. Focus on colour and pattern. Under a microscope, colour and pattern. Make an illustrated booklet about an artist - Link to Asdan Expressive art.

Learn camera skills macro, focus and zoom, learn downloading and editing techniques. Take photos considering lighting and camera angles. Learn printing own photos and selecting best images Idea development final photo and review Complete Close up unit Unit two- Portraits Portraits research famous portrait photographers, investigate portrait techniques. Use cameras to practice techniques and learn editing for portraits. Exhibition of finished photos.-slideshow. Mock exam select exam question on portrait theme Judith golden and mixed media. Develop own idea.eg canvas, scrap book, installation. Unit two- self image and mixed media Year 2 Unit two Self image and mixed media -Individual projects focusing on the core assessment areas to include sketchbook work, research/ design sheets and idea development. Photography and editing Work assessed predicted grade given.

Three d forms, texture. Using charcoal, inks, chalks, etc. Drawing in three dimensions paper sculpture gum tape. Visit to Quay arts./ Jo Kori. : : Unit Two: Painting Nature Unit Three: Ceramics/ sculpture; Animals Painting skills, various techniques, watercolour, acrylic, washes and overlays, brush techniques. Research artists inspired by nature. Develop own paint idea from pencil work in autumn term. Composition and colour combinations. Canvas painting developed and displayed in sixth form. Open evening and evaluation. Working from past paper exam question, research animals in art through history. Design sheets. Learn a variety of ceramic and sculpture techniques. Develop own design idea sculpture/ceramic piece. Year 2 : Unit One: Pop Art Investigate Pop Art, Design research on one artist. Develop own art piece on Pop art theme linking own ideas to artists work. Large painting or sculpture. : Unit Two; Controlled test Work on a selected exam question covering all assessment objectives Examination, controlled test exam question. Half term research and planning individual work. Exam set by exam board AQA ten hours plus planning. Individual work on exam questions.
