1 Week 1 Upside-Down drawing Contour Line -To prepare student for demanding drawing this activity will help students to visually analyze to draw more accurately on their effort to use this technique to improve their drawing ability 26A11 26A14 27B8 Week 2 Cubism Blending, Cubism, Deconstruct, Logo Offset -Students will be introduced to the art of Pablo Picasso and George Braque 25A5 25A6 25B10 26A6 26A7 26A9 27B5 27B6 27B7 on their ability to produce a piece of artwork that demonstrates their knowledge of cubism and the quality of the completed work. 2 Week 3.5 Still Life Drawing Composition, Crosshatching, Depth, Format, Hatching, Still Life, Negative Space, Proportion -Students will choose objects to draw in a still life set up. They will choose their format and composition. Special attention will be focused on proportion, depth, and shading. -Still life drawings will be completed with charcoal or pastels, or chalk -Student evaluation will include a test on the basic vocabulary of still life. 26A4 26A5 26A6 26B10 -Projects will be evaluated on effort, shading, composition, and overall quality of the completed work -Sketchbook Week 5 Impressionism Painting Acrylic, Canvas, Palette Knife, Reproduction, Opaque, Open Air, Transparent -Students will become familiar with the art of French Impressionists -Student will research the art of the impressionists. -Students will choose an impressionist painting and attempt to reproduce the masters work 25A8 25B10 27B2 27B4 27B7 27B9 on their effort, degree of difficulty and quality of the completed work. on their ability to create a painting reflecting the techniques of the French Impressionists. 3 Week 7 Georgia O Keeffe Positive Space, Self Expression -Students will become familiar with the art of this American woman artist. We will focus on the flower phase of O Keeffe s career. -Students will create an O Keeffe style of flower artwork using photographs of flowers. 25A8 LCD slide presentation of on their knowledge of O Keeffe s flowers. O Keeffe and their ability to create a piece of Discovery Education short artwork that demonstrates film on O Keeffe, her life 26A7 their understanding of and work. 26A10 O Keeffe s unique techniques. 27A6 27B4 Week 8-9 Interior Perspective Careers, Creativity, Interior Perspective, Surrealism -Students will demonstrate their knowledge of perspective by creating a realistic interior space designed by the student. The drawings will exhibit their understanding of perspective and provide them the opportunity to be creative. 25A6 25A8 26A5 26A7 27A5 27A6 27B6 27B7 on the basis of their understanding and demonstrated accuracy of their drawings. They will also be evaluated on how creative they were with the creation of their interior spaces. Student will show slides of interior spaces and how perspective is used to make these rooms appear to be three dimensional. Students may use the internet to research furniture styles, architectural features, details, etc. for their final drawings.
4 Week 10 Semester 8 th grade students will continue work on relief printing. Students will continue on a more complicated reduction process.
