2 Course Art II Grade 10th Unit/Lesson Drawing Techniques and 2D design Overview Students will use a variety of drawing techniques including stippling, crosshatching, and shading to render a series of objects. Standards/Assessment anchor/eligible Content B D D C A Big Idea The skills, techniques, elements and principles of the arts can be learned, studied, refined and practiced. Artists use tools and resources as well as their own experiences and skills to create art. Essential Question Why do people value and engage with art? How do artists use personal vision, concerns, and life experiences to create art? Concepts (what should students know as a result of the instruction) - The study of aesthetics includes the examination of the nature and value of art. Artists work in various styles to express experiences and ideas. Competencies/Skills Creative thinking Describe the nature and value of a particular work of art using terms from aesthetics. Be able to define and identify the elements and principles of art in an artwork. Participate in a formal critique with peers to assess the developing qualities in their own artwork. Develop and present a personal body of work that documents personal vision, concerns and life experiences. 5 Course Art II Grade 10th Unit/Lesson Multimedia and Cross-Curricula Projects Overview Students will combine a variety of art supplies and media in a single project that incorporates the elements of art and several different drawing techniques. Big Idea Artists use tools and resources as well as their own experiences and skills to create art. The skills, techniques, elements and principles of the arts can be learned, studied, refined, and practiced. Standards/Assessment anchor/eligible Content B D D C A Concepts (what should students know as a result of the instruction) - The tools artists use influence the outcome of their artwork. Artists create works of art that invite multiple interpretations. Artists work in various styles to express experiences and ideas. Competencies/Skills Creative thinking Create a set of unconventional drawing tools and use them to create a visually interesting series of images. Know how use a variety of art media to make an interesting multimedia composition. The study of aesthetics includes the examination of the nature and value of art. Competencies/Skills Participate in a formal critique with peers to assess the developing qualities in their own artwork. Describe the nature and value of a particular work of art using terms from aesthetics.
