If you're reading this newsletter, you survived this cold holiday season, but as good Canadians, we only survived by dressing warm and complaining 'just a little'. Wow! Another year has gone by and here we are going forward into a new year. Making new resolutions and planning out new quilting projects. We are introducing a few new classes for this winter session as well as some of our regular classes. Let's warm things up by looking forward to a great 'Quilty Year'. Some workshops may have kit fees, patterns or books that need to be purchased. CLASS LEGEND: *New Beginner; **Advanced Beginner; ***Intermediate; ****Intermediate to Advanced January Workshops **Painted Landscape Sat, January 20 $55.00 Playing with several mediums fabric paint, crayons (wax and pencils) and techniques (drawing, shading, hand stitching and quilting) you will create your very own landscape. The landscape could be incorporated into a carry all or framed as wall art. *Sewing Machine Trouble Shooting Sat, January 27 - $ :30 am 12:30 pm Thread breaking? Loose stitches? Breaking needles? Tension issues? Frustrated? This is the class for you. While we won t be servicing your machine during this class, learn all you can about your machine and how to keep it in tip top working condition. **2-Fabric Bargello Wed, January 31 $55.00 This great project is very eye catching and uses (yes) only 2 fabrics for a bargello! You will need an ombre and coordinating secondary fabric. The pattern gives 3 distinct designs this one is a guaranteed WOW! February Workshops *Quilting 101 Sat, February 3 - $55.00 Learn the ABC s of quilting: accurate rotary cutting, strip piecing, basic machine quilting, binding, etc. Make a 3 block table runner or wall hanging in this fun filled quilting class. Please Note: This is a one day class where you should be able to get the majority of the runner project completed **Free Motion Quilting, Level One Wed, February 7 $55.00 Easy step by step techniques. You will be able to free motion quilt your masterpiece after this class.

3 *Beginner Embroidery Sat, February 10 - $ :30 am 3:30 pm Handwork of all kinds is hot right now! To learn the basics or re-acquaint yourself with skills learned long ago, join us for this day of stitching. Basic supplies (including a small embroidery pattern that you like) will get you on the road to hand embellishing it s fun and could be your new addiction. *Applique the Needle Turn Way Sat, February 17 - $ :30 am 12:30 pm Suitable for anyone (including beginner) wanting to learn to applique by hand. This is a technique class you will learn to create smooth and even looking appliques that you can use for your future applique projects. *9-Patch Bonanza Wed, February 21 - $55.00 Take the simple 9 patch block and create approximately 8 different blocks. Come and be amazed as you transform this simple block into its many variations. *Dolls A Two Day Class Fri, February 23 & Sat, February 24 - $70.00 Fri 1:00-4:00 pm and Sat 9:30 am 3:30 pm You will construct fabric dolls using Chi Chi s patterns and techniques. Each doll ends up being unique and you will have lots of fun giving your doll his or her own special character. March Workshops **4-Patch Posie Sat, March 3 - $ :30am 4:30pm This stack the fabric Kaleidoscope technique will give you great fun creating unique designs with your fabric cuts. You ll never look at a piece of fabric the same way again. **3-D Blocks Sat, March 10 $55.00 Using your 60 Degree Ruler see how easy it is to make 3-D blocks that can be arranged to make absolutely stunning quilts. Sew fun. Sew easy. Sew effective!

4 *Laura Heine Collage Wed, March 14 $55.00 Simply cut and paste using Laura Heine s techniques and patterns. So much fun creating the image of your choice fox, cat, dog, truck, boler trailer, dress form available at the shop. *Serging 101 Sat, March 17 - $ :00am 3:00pm Get better acquainted with your 3/4 thread serger. Make samples of serging stitches using a variety of threads. Bring your serger, foot pedal, tool kit and manual. Your fee includes fabrics to make your samples & a variety of serging threads. **Free Motion Quilting, Level One Sat, March 24 $55.00 Easy step by step techniques. You will be able to free motion quilt your masterpiece after this class. April Workshops *Intro to Silk Ribbon Embroidery Sat, April 7 $ :30 am 3:30 pm Learn the basics of silk ribbon embroidery. Some embroidery experience is helpful for this class but not strictly necessary. You will need to purchase some silk ribbon, a background fabric and chenille needles these essentials produce lovely results that aren t as difficult as they look.
