In 1989 quilting had made a resurgence and beautiful fabrics in saturated colors and patterns became available. I thought of Great Grandma Thea making quilt tops and selling them for egg money. I decided it was not nearly as scary as sewing my own clothes so continuing the tradition of quilting I took up the needle again. Once I found out about rotary cutters and rulers there was no going back. I immediately drew up a quilt pattern and started to journey on. Because I'm lazy and don't want to waste time or energy I found or developed new, faster methods. I have difficulty staying in one genre. Really I think that is normal for quilters. No, we don't have ADD. No, I am not in denial... Most of us have way more than one project going. All over the house. Little nests in strategic locations! What really drives me is COLOR! Oh, yes, and visual textures... and dimension... and, oh, yes... COLOR!

2 Programs Color Theory - Learn a simple method for choosing color when creating any project. This technique is the method I use for every project I create and once you see how simple this method is, the success you will have, the worry that is eliminated when choosing fabrics for your project, you will never go back! Many quilts are shown in a variety of different styles to show how this same method is used as a basic tool. Smorgasbord - A wide range of quilts are shown in a variety of styles, from stained glass, appliqué, strip piecing, wool, art quilts, mixed media and more. There is something for everyone from very traditional to very artsy. This is to inspire and motivate with a humorous rendition of the journey through the years. Workshops Freedom In Motion Free motion quilting has never been easier!! This project (I'm Free! I'm Free!) is wool applique on a linen foundation, backed and bordered with burlap. Learn free motion stitching by machine in this workshop. The nature of this design actually begs to have those little odd jumps in stitching that happen when you first try to coordinate the movement of your hands, feet and needle speed. You gradually learn to create smoothly beautiful, consistent stitching. Class time is spent learning free motion. Just think, you won't have to throw away your first project! It's supposed to be a little wonky. This is suitable for all skill levels, but you must know how to use a sewing machine. If you choose, a material fee would pay for the following in your kit:

3 Linen, burlap, hand over-dyed felted wool, 12 wt thread (3 colors), fusible web, stabilizer, hand dyed silk ribbon, needles, pattern and handout, all packaged in a reusable vinyl bag. Contemporary Wool Create your own happy garden of funky flowers as a table runner. You may choose to sew only one end of your base fabric to make a wall hanging or a table topper. IN THIS WORKSHOP YOU WILL LEARN DESIGN PRINCIPLES, COLOR THEORY, THE BASICS OF BLANKET STITCHING WOOL APPLIQUE TO THE FOUNDATION BY MACHINE. Fusible web is used to bond the wool to the fabric, hand over-dyed felted wool is stitched to a beautiful piece of batik to create your own magic garden. Stabilizer placed under the batik helps give a firm foundation making it easier to stitch successfully. This is a beginner to intermediate level project. The batik used in the project will not be exactly the same as that in the model but one will be provided that is as similar as possible. This is suitable for beginners with basic sewing experience up to advanced level. You must know how to use a sewing machine. Please bring to class scissors (both for cutting paper and fabric), thread snips and pins. You will also want to have a piece of 18" x 22" flannel for a design wall. Curves Made Easy Workshop If you have always thought that curves and long, narrow, sharp points were too difficult to sew you need to learn this fabulously simple way to sew perfect curves every single time. You won't have to deal with lumps, bubbles, holes where you snipped too far, warping, whether or not you have a perfect 1/4" seam, or grain lines!

4 In this workshop we begin with a walk through the steps on how to take your own design or favorite photo and translate it into a line drawing suitable for creating your masterpiece in fabric. Then learn this unique method which even allows you to incorporate fabrics other than cotton into your artwork. The workshop focuses on appliqué, art quilts, crafting and design, with a brief discussion on incorporating embellishment, embroidery and decorative stitches by machine or hand as part of using the curve pieced item as a foundational piece in mixed media. Included in your kit is fabric, interfacing, pattern and handouts all in a reusable vinyl bag. You will need to bring the following supplies to the workshop: Neutral sewing thread, small sharp pointed scissors, pins, a rotary cutter and mat (about 12" square or so), a water erasable pen or a Frixion pen (I prefer Frixion). Painting on Fabric If you have ever tried painting on fabric with fabric inks and given up in despair because your inks wicked and bled all over the place you are going to want to know about this method. Learn how to keep your fabric ink under control, how to blend, create depth, and be successful creating beautiful art. It doesn't matter whether the artwork you are creating is realistic or wonky. With all of the amazing art, zentangles, doodles and coloring books once you have learned this you will have everything you need to take your fiber art to the next level. Kits are available. The Kit includes a 6 pc Fabrico pen set, PFD fabric/batik, white all purpose ink with a Fantastix bullet tip applicator for blending and a brush tip for detailing and highlighting, accessories, pattern and handouts all provided in a clear vinyl reusable bag.

5 This class is suitable for all skill levels. It is a project as well as process oriented mixed media workshop. Please bring a mechanical pencil to class with you. Wool Leaves - Mug Rugs Play with the colors of wool, cut them into shapes for these funky leaves and then learn how to use simple, basic hand embroidery stitches to create beautiful visual texture. You will have enough wool and thread in your kit to create 4 mug rugs, just in time for the holidays. These make wonderful gifts for the person who has everything but needs a personal touch in their life. This is a hand sewing, project as well as process oriented class where you will learn about embellishing, embroidery and hand stitchery. Your kit will include: wool for four mug rugs, felt for backing, 5 spools of 12 wt. thread, hand sewing needles, fusible web, pattern and handouts, all in a reusable vinyl bag. Please bring a good pair of scissors for fabric cutting (preferably one with serrated blades...some will be available for purchase in class if you do not own a good pair), pins, a small trash bag, a smile. Tooth Fairy Pillow It is simple to learn about working with wool as you create a small, adorable tooth fairy pillow for some lucky child. Blanket and stem stitch are the foundational stitches you learn. Other's are optional. The kit is partially assembled (the teeth and jaw) so in class time is spent creating the face

6 with hand stitching. The alphabet is provided for you to personalize this project. You can complete the pillow (add the stuffing) at home. This is a hand sewing workshop that is both project and process oriented. Even though the project teaches beginners this is a fast and fun project to create. All skill levels are welcome. Kit are available and includes wool, felt, threads, needle, stuffing and pattern all in a reusable vinyl project bag. Please bring the following to class: fabric cutting scissors, paper cutting scissors and a small trash bag. Paint a Landscape Landscapes have their own set of rules for composition, value placement, and colors. Come learn the basics as you explore using alcohol based markers to create flowing watercolor imagery on fabric. We begin by lightly tracing some basic elements to the prepared for dyeing fabric. Then explore what happens with ink of fabric when it is applied, adding the colorless blender to mimic watercolor artwork. A brief discussion will be included on ideas for quilting the project to enhance your artwork. This is project as well as process oriented and is a mixed media class. The workshop is suitable for all skill levels. Kits are available and include Copic Markers, Colorless Blender, PFD Fabric, pattern and handouts all in a clear vinyl reusable pouch. Please bring a mechanical pencil to class with you.
