1 MICKEY DEPRE Mickey Depre is one unbelievably talented designer whose head is filled with whimsical visions that clamor to be made into fun-loving appliqué quilts, such as The Ninepatchers a Family Reunion. Her absolutely adorable designs make perfect wall quilts. Mickey teaches her machine appliqué technique throughout the United States. Her book Garden Whimsy Appliqué is a great reference to Mickey's appliqué techniques. Her patterns make perfect classes for quilters of all ages

2 CLASSES AND SUPPLIES #102 CHARM PACK WILDFLOWERS March 12, 2015 Beginner/Intermediate Charm Packs those delightful sets of 5 inch squares of fabric. Who can resist?!? Well I couldn t. So I designed a pattern that allows you to put them into a charming little wall quilt. But wait you could make 9 of these little quilts

3 Class #102 Continued for a unique full size sampler quilt. Hmmm the possibilities are endless Pillows? Just add some small amounts of an additional background fabric and vine/leaf fabric and you re done. So grab a charm pack or two and let s spend a day making it work for you. We will go over the best placement of fabrics/colors for the most impact in both the pieced background and the flowers. When it comes to the appliqué you can use needle turn, fuse or zigzag machine appliqué. I will have demos/tips for all three methods to help you decide. And the best part is every student s project becomes uniquely their own based on their decisions regarding fabric placement. See images on my website for three examples of the same quilt done with three dramatically different charm packs! Pattern is necessary and is just $4.00 at workshop. Supplies: #1 Supply Sewing Machine in good working order that you are familiar with. Please bring instruction manual to class if available. Basic: Cutting Mat and Rotary Cutter with a new blade Ruler Best size is 6 X 12 and a 6 X 6 or smaller if you have it Ironing Pad or a thick towel Iron Ironing stations can be shared Seam ripper just in case you need to unsew it happens Pins flat pins work best Universal ¼ Foot and appliqué foot if you choose to machine appliqué vs fusible appliqué New machine needle for piecing

4 Scissors Class #102 Continued Fabric: FABRIC A: 40 Charm Squares 5 X 5 if your charm pack has less than 40 then bring two charm packs! FABRIC B: ½ yd background. I suggest a soft print or a solid reading one color fabric FABRIC C: ¼ yard this is for the vines so a true ¼ yard is needed for length FABRIC D: ¼ yd or Fat Quarter this is for the leaves, 1 yard of fusible web if you choose to fuse your appliqué or 1 yard of stabilizer for turned edge Machine Appliqué (I use freezer paper method) Thread: Piecing I tend to use gray or taupe thread Appliqué threads your choice depending on technique you choose! Note: Class pattern fee of $4.00 per student Note pattern is discounted for workshop attendees. A design wall or flannel fabric hung in workshop space is needed for instruction purposes.

5 #202 MACHINE QUILTING 101 March 13, 2015 All Levels A six hour workshop for Machine Quilters of all skill levels who wish to dive into the world of machine quilting and or learn my building block approach to putting together stitch patterns. Learn the basics from thread, needles, and tricks of the trade. Then apply this knowledge to 12 simple (but effective!) free motion machine quilting patterns. Patterns taught will give you a great base in which to find your own quilting style! My machine quilting workshop can be described as speed dating the stitch as you will spend approximately 20 minutes total with each stitch during the course of the day (we revisit stitches in reviews) and will leave with enough information to be armed and dangerous. Or in other words your dating a stitch not marrying it. Machine Quilting is not a skill that you perfect in 6 hours but you can learn. And I have been told that my approach to teaching machine quilting and building a skill set is one of the best. You will walk out of class a better quilter but as always practice is required to achieve an even higher skill set. NOTE: with each stitch I discuss where it will work best in a quilt (generally speaking) and will happily answer questions regarding quilting design at the end of class or lunch break if you wish to bring a project with you for personal review. Supplies: Sewing machine in good working order that you are familiar with. Please bring instruction manual to class if available. Machine must have ability to drop feed dogs or adequately cover the feed dogs in good working condition. Basic:

6 Scissors Class #202 Continued A hand needle-any size sharp will be fine as long as the eye is big enough to feed the quilting thread through A pack of new quilting needles for your machine, size 75/11 ((recommended Schmetz brand needles) Open Toe Embroidery, Free Motion Embroidery or Free Motion Quilting Foot, must have SPRING MOTION 2 Pencils sharpened Fabric: Nine square quilt sandwiches composed of solid fabric on top, cotton or cotton mixed batting and either muslin or light solid for backing. Thread: 1 spool of 40wt or finer machine quilting thread. Fill two bobbins prior to class! Misc: 5-7 sheets of white copy paper for drawing Optional: Rubber Filing Fingers or Cotton Rubber Grip Gloves or any other item that you use for machine quilting.

7 #302 PIECED HEXIE BUFFET March 14, 2015 All Levels Join me and learn how to take the Hexie to a whole new level with my Pieced Hexies Patterns. You will find 7 Fun and Exciting New Samples. Some English Paper Piecing experience would be helpful but not necessary. Students will leave class with three new design samples and their imagination running wild.

8 Class #302 continued BOOK PURCHASE REQUIRED - Pieced Hexies A New Tradition in English Paper Piecing will be required for all workshop attendees. BOOK can be purchased at the time of the workshop for $22.00 to attendees on the day of the workshop. SUPPLIES: Basic: Sewing Machine have bobbin loaded with your favorite piecing thread Ironing Pad or thick towel Iron Ironing stations can be shared by up to 4 persons Fabric: Bring lots of scraps we can play with choices there are so many variables that giving specifics for fabric requirements cannot be done. Scraps on average should be at least a 10 square in size. Toss in a fat quarter or two if you want to have some consistency in fabrics between all the designs. Threads: Silk thread (I use YLI #224 for appliqué of every color 90% of the time and/or 50wt or 60 wt cotton thread (Prescenia) An odd spool of thread for basting - a bright contrasting color is best Notions: 1.5 English Paper Piecing Hexagon papers at least 25 papers John James Sharps #4/#8 Easy Thread Fine Appliqué Needle or Milliners Needle Bring a fine hand needle you are comfortable with Thimble highly recommended Clover Table Top Needle Threader (if you have it bring it if not I will have some to test try but I warn you you will want one when we are done! Seam Ripper nice and sharp Pins fine appliqué pins work best at least 1 in length
