2 During six hours of instruction, students will learn and practice two techniques for creating quilt blocks on paper. Week one will focus on making a quilt block by sewing fabric to a pre-printed paper foundation to make the Cartwheels Quilt as shown above. Week two will focus on making a quilt block by strip-sewing fabric onto unprinted paper. Students may make pre-printed and unprinted blocks as desired, to make a project of their own choosing. The instructor will provide project guidance, as well as foundation papers. A supply list will be ed prior to the first class. 3 1 day Fee: P$50/ R$55/G$60 Allamanda Rec Center at 1395 St. Charles Place, The Villages, Florida October 2016 Quilting With a Walking Foot Quilters are finding it extremely rewarding, and economical, to make an entire quilt - from piecing to quilting to binding - entirely by oneself. During this five hour-plus workshop, you ll learn how to get started quilting your own quilts. Students will learn to how to prepare their home sewing machine for straight line walking foot quilting, and will need to bring to the workshop a sewing machine that has: 1 a walking foot, or the capability of engaging a dual feed or even feed foot 2 an owner s manual 3 been recently cleaned or serviced. Instruction also includes a review of how to properly prepare and baste a quilt sandwich, and the suitability of types and brands of sewing machine needles, fabric markers, batting, and threads.

After registration, a complete supply list will be provided by the instructor. Students do not need a quilt top for this workshop. A 45-minute lunch break is allowed.

Course: WI16CRA54101 Friday, October 7, 9am-3pm 1 day Fee: P$62/ R$67 / G$72 Del Mar Classroom at 974 Del Mar, Spanish Springs, The Villages, Florida Quilting With a Quilting Foot If you are a quilter who: 1) already feels comfortable straight line quilting with a walking foot, or 2) has previously taken Quilting With a Walking Foot, and 3) is ready to expand your home machine quilting skills, then this workshop is for you! Students will learn how to free-hand (without following drawn designs) free motion quilt, and methods for marking drawn designs to quilt a particular pattern.

5 Instruction also includes how to start/stop quilting - what to do with those thread tails - and options for controlling the movement of the quilt under the needle. It s expected that students are already familiar with various types of sewing machine needles, fabric markers, battings, and threads.
