3 Preparation Print out the template pages at full size and tape together matching the respective color crosses. Trace the resulting right triangle shape onto plastic template material and carefully cut out. Cutting WOF = Width of Fabric Fabric A, fussy-cut: (16) 90 triangles, following the Fussy-cutting Guide on page 7 and using the template created above Fabric B, fussy-cut: (3) x WOF (11.43cm x WOF); sub-cut (25) (11.43cm) squares Fabric C, cut: (1) x WOF (54.61cm x WOF); sub-cut (8) x (11.43cm x 54.61cm) Fabric D, cut: (1) x WOF (54.61cm x WOF); sub-cut (8) x (11.43cm x 54.61cm) Fabric E, cut: (12) x WOF (11.43cm x WOF) strips; sub-cut (12) x (11.43cm x 74.93cm) Fabric F, cut: (8) x WOF (6.35cm x WOF), for binding Sewing All seam allowances are 1 4 (.64cm) and pieces are sewn right sides together. 1. Sew four fussy-cut triangles together to make a square, being careful not to stretch the bias edges. Trim to (54.61cm) square (Fig. 1 on page 4). Make a total of (4) squares. 2. To assemble the block, sew a x (11.43cm x 54.61cm) Fabric C strip to opposite sides of a square. 3. Sew a Fabric B square (11.43cm) to each end of a x (11.43cm x 54.61cm) Fabric C strip. Make a total of (2) strips. 4. Matching adjacent seams, sew (1) Fabric B/C strip to the top and the other to the bottom of the square (Fig. 2 on page 4). 5. Repeat Steps 2-4 for remaining three blocks, substituting Fabric D for Fabric C on (2) blocks. 6. Alternately sew together (3) (11.43cm) Fabric B squares and (2) x (11.43cm x 74.93cm) Fabric E strips (Fig. 3 on page 4). Make a total of (3) sashing strips. 7. Alternately sew together (3) x (11.43cm x 74.93cm) Fabric E strips and (2) different blocks to make one row (Fig. 4 on page 5). Make (2). 8. Noting the block color placement, sew (1) Step 6 sashing strip to the top of a row, (1) between the two rows, and another to the bottom of the block row (Fig. 5 on page 6). Finishing 9. Sew together the (8) x WOF (6.35cm x WOF) Fabric F binding strips end to end using diagonal seams. Press the seams open. Press the binding strip in half wrong sides together. 10. Layer the backing (wrong side up), batting, and quilt top (right side up). Baste the layers together and quilt as desired. Trim excess batting and backing even with the top after quilting is completed. 11. Leaving an 8 (20.32cm) tail of binding, sew binding to top of quilt through all layers matching all raw edges. Miter corners. Stop approximately 12 (30.48cm) from where you started. Lay both loose ends of binding flat along quilt edge. Where these two loose ends meet, fold them back on themselves and press to form a crease. Using this crease as your stitching line, sew the two open ends of the binding together right sides together. Trim seam to 1 4 (.64cm) and press open. Finish sewing binding to quilt. 12. Turn the binding to the back of quilt and hand-stitch in place. 3 of 10
