Cut out each template 1 8 (.32cm) beyond the dashed outer line. A needle and a short stitch length are recommended to help with perforation and removal of the foundation paper. Backstitch at the beginning and end of each seam to help secure stitches for paper removal. Fabric is positioned on the back (blank) side of the foundation paper and sewing is done on the right (printed) side, directly on the lines. Sewing Seam allowances are 1 4 (.64cm) and pieces are sewn right sides together. The quilt requires (24) identically pieced blocks. Each block is made up of Templates A-E (Fig. 1). Fig. 1 Paper-Piecing Template A 1. Begin with (1) 6 x (15.24cm x 19.05cm) Fabric A patch and (1) x 8 (11.43cm x 20.32cm) Fabric B patch. Place the Fabric A patch right side up on the non-printed side of the template paper covering section A1. You may have to hold Template A and the Fabric A patch up to a light source double check the placement. Fabric A should cover the entire 3 of 11

section and extend at least 1 4 (.64cm) beyond solid lines of section A1. Place Fabric B, right sides together with Fabric A. Align the long Fabric B edge 1 4 over sewing line 1.

Turn to the side of the template with the fabric and press Fabric C over the seam allowance to cover section A4. 6. Repeat Steps 4 and 5 with a second Fabric C patch covering section A5. 7.

Turn to the side of the template with the fabric and press Fabric B over the seam allowance to cover section A2. 3. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 with a second Fabric B patch covering section A3. 4. Place (1) 3 x 6 (7.62cm x 15.24cm) Fabric C patch right sides together with the A/B unit. Align the long Fabric C edge approximately 1 4 (.64cm) over sewing line 3. Sew on sewing line 3 (Fig. 3). Where these two loose ends meet, fold them back on themselves and press to form a crease. Using this crease as your stitching line, sew the two open ends of the binding together right sides together. Trim seam to 1 4 (.64cm) and press open. Finish sewing binding to quilt. 22. Turn the binding to the back of quilt and hand-stitch in place. 6 of 11
