Sew pieces right sides together. Each block is made of three parts: the center square, flying geese sets, and corner blocks. You may choose to assemble one block at a time, or chain piece. Block A (Make 7) 1. Sew (1) (6.35cm) Fabric B square to (1) (6.35cm) Fabric A square. Make a total of (8) pairs per block. Press seams toward Fabric B. 2. Sew (1) pair of Fabrics A/B squares to another pair, alternating fabrics to create a four-patch unit. Repeat for all pairs. Make a total of (4) four-patches per block. Press seams open. 3. Sew (1) x (6.35cm x 11.43cm) Fabric A rectangle to (1) (6.35cm) Fabric B square. Make a total of (4) strips per block. Press seams toward Fabric B. 4. Sew (1) x4 1 2 (6.35cm x 11.43cm) Fabric A rectangle to the completed four-patch from Step 2. Make a total of (4) per block. Press seams toward Fabric A. 5. Sew the completed strip from Step 3 to the adjacent corner of the completed rectangle from Step 4, so the Fabric B squares form a diagonal pattern (Fig. 1). For each set of flying geese, you will use (2) squares in Step 7 and (2) in Step 9. Fabric K, cut: (8) x WOF (6.35cm x WOF) for binding 3 of 6

4 7. Align two (7.30cm) Fabric A squares in opposite corners of (1) (13.34cm) Fabric G square, so the drawn diagonal lines meet in the middle and extend from corner to corner. The squares will overlap slightly. Sew 1 4 (.64cm) away from both sides of the drawn line (Fig. 2). Make a total of (3) flying geese sets per block. Fig Cut along the drawn line. Press seams toward Fabric G, creating (2) halves per flying geese set. 9. Take (1) marked (7.30cm) Fabric A square from Step 6, and align it in the open corner of one half of the flying geese set from Step 8. Sew 1 4 (.64cm) away from both sides of the drawn line (Fig. 3). Fig Complete the block by sewing the (3) rows from Step 12 together (Fig. 4). Repeat to make a total of (7) Block A. Fig Cut along the drawn line. Press seams toward Fabric G. 11. Sew the long edges of (3) flying geese together. Each block requires (4) sets of (3) geese. 12. Assemble the block by sewing (2) corner sections on either side of a flying geese set, noting the orientation. Make another set. Press seams toward the corner sections. Sew (1) set of flying geese to each side of (11.43cm) Fabric H square, noting the orientation. Press seams toward Fabric H. 4 of 6

5 Block B (Make 7) 14. Repeat Steps 1-13, substituting Fabric D for Fabric B to create the corner units, and substituting Fabric F for Fabric G to create the flying geese sections. Substitute Fabric J for the middle square. Make a total of (7) Block B. Block C (Make 6) 15. Repeat Steps 1-13, substituting Fabric C for Fabric B to create the corner sections, and Fabric E for Fabric G to create the flying geese sections. Substitute Fabric I for the middle square. Note that only (6) Block C are needed so adjust section quantities accordingly. Quilt Top Assembly 16. Following the Quilt Layout diagram for block placement and orientation, lay out the (20) blocks in (5) rows of (4) blocks each. Sew the blocks together in each row, matching adjacent seams. Press seams alternate directions for adjacent rows. 17. Sew the rows together in order to complete quilt top. Press seams open. Finishing 18. Layer the backing (right side down), batting, and quilt top (right side up). Baste the layers together using spray or pins. Quilt as desired. 19. Trim the excess batting and backing to match the quilt top edge. 20. Sew the (8) Fabric K binding strips together end to end using diagonal seams. Fold in half lengthwise, wrong sides together, and press. Sew the binding to the quilt top, raw edges aligned. Turn and fold the binding to the back and hand-stitch in place. 5 of 6
