1 Happenings May - August 01 Upcoming Events Southern California Quilt Run June and June 1- It s a Mystery! Two long weekends to take in thirty-two of Southern California s finest quilt shops. Shop hours have been extended to give you ample time to make the rounds. Mystery gifts will be given at every shop you visit! Get together with your friends and take off for a fun filled field trip. Enjoy the mystery. Who knows where this will lead you! Long Beach Quilt Show Bus Trip $50 July 8 8:30am - 6pm Plan to join Quilt in a Day on the bus to Long Beach. We will leave Quilt in a Day at 8:30 sharp and return at 6pm. Cost of $50 includes, a sit-back-and-relax ride to Long Beach Convention Center, ticket for admission to the show, and a goodie bad filled with fun gifts and surprises from Quilt in a Day. The store will open at 7:30 for those early bird shoppers. Please sign up early as space is limited. Farmers Market Row Run May 5th - 1th Featuring nine quilt shops in San Diego County! Each shop will give you directions for a different row...put them all together and you can make a terrific quilt measuring 30 x 44. Spring Retreat at Camp Cedar Glen $385 May 9 - June 1st 8:30am Camp Cedar Glen is located in the Laguna Mountains of San Diego County, at the base of Vulcan Wilderness Preserve. The surrounding scenery and town of Julian is a quaint place to visit on your way to retreat. Spring days are warm and nights are cool. Our accommodations are comfortable, with rustic bunkhouse lodging, 4-8 bunks to a room. Teachers will be on site to help guide you through the steps for making your quilt. We have plenty of room to sew and tables to lay out quilt tops for finishing. Even if you have never made a quilt before, this is the weekend for you! So come, relax, and go home with a brand new quilt! A $100 deposit is required. Basic Quilting $65 Multiple Times - Check Calendar for Dates This four part 1 hour Series teaches you the basic skills required to make a quilt with our quick and easy techniques. Our experienced Quilt in a Day teachers will guide you through the process and be on hand to assist and answer your questions. Learn the basics about rotary cutting your fabrics, using the sewing machine and the techniques for crafting your own lap size quilt. The patches are simple to sew together with this easy to understand method. Civil War Love Letter Quilt $5 Club Sue Bouchard May 1, June 16, July 14, Aug 11-10am The Civil War Era was a time of great tragedy and triumph. For a diverse group of women, it held a distinctive thread in their lives and their quilting. Quilters and love letter historians alike will appreciate the timeless lessons shared through actual diary entries and 11 related quilt blocks featured in The Civil War Love Letter Quilt from Rosemary Youngs. This is a lecture formatted class held the second Saturday of each month beginning in February 01. Saturday es $35 Annie Dease - May 5, July 7, Aug Teresa Varnes - May 6, June 30, July 8, Aug s are a great opportunity to work on your favorite quilting project for the whole day! Learn on your own computer, or you can rent one from Sheila. Sheila offers a easy going, though, get right to it approach to using your EQS.
