1 BEGINNERS QUILT (Quilting 101) Have you always wanted to make a quilt but didn t know where to start? We will take you step by step through the process as you make a quilt with rail fence, log cabin, 9-patch and friendship star blocks. We will cover everything including choosing fabrics, rotary cutting, strip piecing, borders, quilting options and binding. Choose from 3 different sizes. Instructors: Sharon Rice & Lynn McCamant. Starting dates:, July 5th 6:30pm-9pm, July 28th 1pm-4pm, Sept 11th 10am-12:30pm, Sept 13nd 6:30pm-9pm, Oct 6th 1pm-4pm, $70 for 7wks SQUARE in a SQUARE After taking a class by Jody Barrows, this class became a must to teach. Come learn the different options that make up all of the wonderful blocks that can be made with the Square in a Square ruler. Difficult blocks suddenly become easy. There will be a series of three classes for each session. In the first two classes, we will learn the most common Options. Instructor: Sharon Rice Aug 19th Noon-6pm one day. Oct 17th 6pm-9pm. 2wks $35 +Ruler and book BLOCK OF THE MONTH They re cute and they re sassy they are Garden Patch Cats or Bloomin Dogs! They are also a Block of the Month program. You may use any method of applique you wish to create these quirky little kitties or dogs and then assemble them into a quilt. Not only does it make lovely trees for landscapes but for those who collect scraps it also makes use of fabric that might otherwise be thrown away. You will start with a simple fused landscape background on which you will create confetti trees. Skill level: Confident Beginner Instructor: Helene Knott Aug 30th 10:30am-5:30pm $45

This is your next class after beginning quilting. In this class you ll learn many ways to make flying geese, sashings, and mitered borders. Instructor: Sandy Aug 15th 6pm-9pm 3wks $45 Cultural Inspiration Cultural Inspirations: Special fabrics deserve to be seen without chopping them up into little pieces. This fabric sampler showcases these fabrics, featuring a hand or machine appliquéd motif block surrounded by panels, strips and squares of those 'can't bear to cut it' ethnic fabrics. Themes can focus on African, Japanese, Indonesian, etc or you might choose a theme based on a subject like horses or dogs, a Christmas theme anything can become your inspiration. A variety of ethnic motif patterns will be available in class ranging from simple to intricate or you can create your own unique motif (to fit a 10 square). Skill level: Confident Beginner and up Instructor: Helene Knott July 31st 10:30am-5:30pm $40 Mitered Corners You will be making practice samples of mitered corners and learning tricks for making and turning corners. There will be BOTH outward miters such as you would use for borders on a quilt and inward miters for creating a napkin or tablecloth with no exposed seams. Instructor: Victoria Jones July 25th 1pm-4pm OR Oct 11th 6pm-9pm $20+Kit Fabric Collage We ll be using an easy collage technique to create fabric that you will be able to use for a vest, tote bag, jacket, and/or quilt blocks. You ll never look at fabric scraps the same again and find that there are many places this technique can be used. This is a fun technique and you ll be amazed at how easy it is. 3 FREE QUILT HISTORICAL APPRAISAL, DOCUMENTATION & EVALUATION Amelia Endorf will analyze and give you a Historical Appraisal, Documentation & Evaluation of your quilts. (See store for details) SEPTEMBER 8TH 1PM-5PM Arc-I-Texture This dazzling project from the cover of the popular Skinny Quilts & Table Runners book is so much easier than it looks, and I ll show you all the easy tricks to making it. Shown as a table runner, the technique used is easily adaptable to clothing, a wall hanging, handbags, and more. You could have a different set for each season or holiday! There is NO lining (or batting) and yet all seams are enclosed. Feel free to make your table cloth and/or napkins larger (just be sure to allow This is part of my Victoria s Secrets series in which you will learn an exciting technique for adding circles to your projects. The technique is very easy and you ll be amazed at how fun it is to do. You will be ready to add circles to everything after this class. After creating the background you will applique the happy jacks using fusible web technique. You ll be amazed at how quickly this project goes together. If you wish, you may choose one of the other projects within the book as the techniques are the same from one project to another. You may find that you want to begin with napkins and then you ll be familiar with the techniques when working with the larger tablecloth size. I chose to add borders to my sample project the choice is yours! The techniques for this project are very simple and although there is a lot of sewing, it s all straight lines. I think this design would work very well as a bed runner, table runner, and/or wall hanging as well as a quilt. 4 MACHINE QUILTING 101 This class will cover various approaches to machine quilting as well as troubleshooting tips. Students will bring a simple pieced top (from a pattern provided) ready to practice various techniques and styles of quilting on. You will learn stitching in the ditch, using freezer paper templates, stitching through tracing paper, stippling (both classical and innovative) as well as glean a wealth of tips to make machine quilting your own quilts easier and more pleasurable. Instructor: Helene Knott Sept 30th Noon-6pm 2wks $50 THREAD PAINTING Thread Painting: This beginning level thread painting class will teach you to use your sewing machine and thread much like a box of crayons. The class project is simple enough to render in a basic color within the lines approach but can be stitched in a more complex style adding details and blending colors for the more adventurous spirits. You do not need an embroidery machine for this, just one that can be used for free motion stitching with a straight stitch. The stitching is hand guided not computerized and even a basic machine will work fine. Skill Level: Intermediate (familiarity with freemotion stitching is a prerequisite) Instructor: Helene Knott Sept 26th 11am-5pm $45 Dimensional Shooting STAR This beautiful quilt is created using appliqué star blocks with a 3 dimensional Glow center. You can do hand applique or machine buttonhole stitch. Also a good quilt for using fabric s from your Stach. Instructors: Linnea Schmidlin Sept 19th 11am-2pm $45 3 Wks Reverse Applique Reverse Appliqué Leaves: Learn reverse hand appliqué techniques while making a sampler of various leaf designs. The designs are versatile and can be rendered and arranged in a number of different ways to create a truly unique wall hanging. In class you will learn how to appliqué the four basic forms you need to master: points, valleys, convex and concave curves as well as the reverse appliqué techniques. During class you will learn this fun new technique while coloring a pear, a pansy, a butterfly, one of Terrie s fanciful Pinwheel flowers and what ever else you d like to try, as time permits. You re going to get beautiful, artistic results with Terrie s anyone can do it methods. BEGINNING PAPER PIECING If you ve ever wanted to try paper piecing, this is your chance. A quick & easy pattern to learn the techniques for paper piecing. This is a very basic paper piecing class so you can learn what paper piecing is all about and the techniques involved. Instructor: Jim Curtis Aug 4th 9am-Noon 3hrs $25. Scallop Placemats Graceful swirling curves add elegance to your table, and they are so easy to make! Let this project be your inspiration for learning or perfecting your curved piecing skills with this easy technique. 7 FEATHERWEIGHT 221 MAINTENANCE CLASS You will learn how to maintain your Featherweight 221, how to inspect the machine for potential problems and how to correctly rectify any problems found. You will learn how to use common basic tools, and where to get parts to upgrade your machine. Bring your 221 or 222 or 301 Singer machine, tools and other items on the supply list. This years quilt is available in three color ways: Blue/linen/white, red/white or red/white/ blue. Each color way is limited to 12 participants each.
